Amazing video. This dryer model is 100% more involved to change the moisture sensors vs every other dryer in videos on the internet! I drilled a hole in the front to get to the 4th (hidden screw) that gets removed the opposite direction of the other three screws so I didn’t have to pull the dryer out from under our folding table and disconnect the gas line/dryer vent and remove the top/front panels. There should have been an access hole there to begin with which would save a tech a LOT of extra effort as you so wonderfully illustrated throughout this video. Thanks again. I had the first three screws out, inside the dryer, but could not lift the trap holder out. Low and behold a mystery fourth screw buried deep in the bowels of the machine.

How did you drill the "hidden screw"? Was it on the small circle mark?
@cyrussteele9362 Жыл бұрын
Yup did the same thing myself. No way was I unstacking the dryer just to do this repair. For anyone looking to do the same the drill point is centered on the top edge of the raised circle area of the panel. Use a moderatly large bit as well so you can get the screw out the hole. Silly design to hide that screw.

My dryer isn’t getting hot. Could that be a moisture sensor issue? I’ve cleaned the vents, checked the outside duct and tried the smart care button for any errors. Still not getting hot or drying clothes
@PartsDrАй бұрын
Usually if the moisture sensor fails, the dryer will still heat but it might not run for the correct amount of time or prematurely end the cycle before the clothes are dry. Check out this video for things to check that could be causing your dryer to not heat kzbin.info/www/bejne/n4i9ppZ5rph4eZo

So my Samsung dryer is 5 months old and all of a sudden the cycles that depend on the moisture sensor stop after 1 minute. I look at the sensor and it looks pristine. I find it hard to believe that a metal conductor that’s literally a piece of metal will cause this issue. Any other ideas on what can be the issue? Thank you!

Check the wiring that goes between the sensor and main control board to make sure there are not any breaks in the wiring or disconnected wires.

Whats the symptom of faulty dryer sensor? Cos mine is always stopping mid cycle
@nextlayersecurity3 жыл бұрын
me confused. there's literally (figuratively and explicitly) nothing that can go wrong with the "sensor" itself since it's simply a metal conductor. The problem would like in wire connection, wire, and upstream connections that would possibly affect the resistance. Is there a scenario where age and moisture affect the resistance provided by metal strip?
@PartsDr3 жыл бұрын
The sensor can get physically damaged in same cases where something snags onto it and rips it out. Over time we have seen some develop a film over the sensor bars which can cause them to not sense properly.

Brother, you don't need to take any of those parts out . Simply open the door, and two screws that hold the lent collector. Then the whole lent collector with the two sensors will come out , ten you see them and can replace them .

How do you know if it's one bar or both that are out
@PartsDr2 жыл бұрын
There isn't much to fail on the moisture sensor bar. Most commonly something will snag onto one and it will rip it out of the dryer. Over time they can also develop a coating on them that causes them not to read properly. Most of the time people replace them as a pair since they aren't too expensive.

We haven't tried using the dryer without the sensor, but it may throw an error code if no sensor is installed. Let us know what you find. But, if it does work, you would only be able to use the timed dry cycles. It would be in your best interest to try to repair the sensor issue.

you don't need to replace it. just sandpaper it with 600 or 800 grit sandpaper and alcohol. it just need cleaning because of the film build mostly from fabric softener. use ohmeter to check to ensure there is continuity on each moisture sensor bar and not between the two bars.

Sometimes they can get damaged or ripped out of the dryer. Also, we have seen a buildup or film on the bars. If that happens, they can usually be cleaned instead of replaced.

Ok. I have a Samsung DV42H5000EW/A3. Have had warranty technicians out 4 times for the same problem. They keep throwing parts at it. Problem: Dryer dries clothes fine. Gets to the 1 min mark and continues to cook the clothes until it overheats. Doesn’t matter the setting. Even on timed dry. Techs have replaced the thermistor, motherboard, and a handful of other parts and still does the same thing. This is the last thing that hasn’t been changed.
