The issue I have is the freezer became unplugged and the water is bloody at the bottom. I cooked all the meat for my dogs. I fed them a lot but then froze bags of cooked meat to use in the future as dog food. But does dish detergent kill germs that might exist when your freezer becomes unplugged for days and your meat gets bloody?

Question I have a large box deep freezer approximately 35 years old knock on wood by the grace of God no problems ever. Being completely empty having nothing to go back in right away is it wise to leave the freezer off for a while so the motor rust and how long if so

Everybody knows how to clean a freezer once defrosted but you should have shown how your drain the water out of the freezer

I'll sometimes use a rubber spatula to speed up the de-icing.
