I agree with tubeyhamster on the subject of "Silver Charm had an undistinguished pedigree?" However, I wanted to ad that Silver Charm was a grandson of the legendary Buckpasser. Buckpasser and his lineage (Tom Fool, War Admiral, Man o' War) is in other recent Triple Crown hopefuls' (horses that won both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness) pedigrees (California Chrome, Real Quiet, Charismatic, Funny Cide, and War Emblem). Also, two of the Triple Crown spoilers, Touch Gold and Easy Goer, were Buckpasser grandsons. The undefeated filly, Personal Ensign, was a great-granddaughter of Buckpasser. Also, on a trivia side note, 10 of the past 11 horses (from Alysheba to present) to win the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, all had War Admiral in their pedigrees. Making him one of the most represented Triple Crown winners, pedigree wise. The exception being Sunday Silence. Man o' War appears 5 times in Sunday's pedigree, but, the most notable Man o' War descendant in Sunday's pedigree was Man o' War's great-grandson Stymie. Who like Sunday was an unlikely champion, who no one seemed to want, at least for awhile. Both retired as top money earners. Stymie was claimed for $1,500 and earned $918,485. Stymie managed to win against the 1946 Triple Crown winner, Assault. Ironically, the race he did it in was called the "Gallant Fox". The last 2 Triple Crown winners, Affirmed and Seattle Slew, were both War Admiral descendants. Seattle Slew being a descendant of War Admiral's 1945 Horse-of-the-Year daughter, Busher. Affirmed, was also a descendant of Gallant Fox. Giving both War Admiral and Gallant Fox two Triple Crown winning descendants. Two of the horses who won the Derby and the Preakness, Funny Cide and I'll Have Another, were both descendants of the father/son Triple Crown Winners, Gallant Fox and Omaha. Mr. Prospector was a great-grandson of Count Fleet. Pretty much guaranteeing that Count Fleet will be another one of the most represented Triple Crown winners, pedigree wise. A.P. Indy's success as a sire, should help make Secretariat and Seattle Slew also be very represented, in the future, in terms of Triple Crown contenders (Derby and Preakness winners).

Silver Charm had an undistinguished pedigree? His damsire was Poker, a stallion who has to be one of the best bred horses of the 20th century and who may have carried the large heart gene. In addition to Bonnie's Poker, Silver Charm's dam, Poker got My Charmer: Seattle Slew's dam. Silver Buck, Silver Charm's sire, won a couple of G1 stakes and got 39 stakes winners overall.

Easy Goer had the most natural talent than any other horse of all these Triple Crowns..Sunday Silence had the 3 to 1 edge over Easy Goer but my opinion is Easy Goer was the better horse..Will never forget Easy Goers Track record Gotham where he won by 13 lengths and galloped out in 1:45 4/5 for the 1 1/8th..One of the most brilliant race displays i have ever watched...Most disappointing race of his career was the 1989 Classic when he was terribly sluggish throughout entire race and still managed to miss by a diminishing neck...He was about 70% in that race and should have easily won if he was not so sluggish that day...Pat Day never respected Sunday Silence either and that cost him also..

They may have fallen a little short, but they are great. imagine the level of talent it must have taken those 13 who did it. For that alone they must be ranked in the top 13 of all time. 3 yr olds running longer and faster in a span of a few weeks. wow! and in 3 different states! one even won by 31 lengths and another by 25. talk about conquering the test of champions.

Well I can TELL you alllll them are fucken excuses. Excuse my French. Everytime there was a excuse for. Ot winning triple crown my mom and dad yelled excuses or booed at tv!!! How I know this?? My daddy Paulino" pablo" Ortiz trained that triple crown winner and he was SICK in the belmont stakes and won like that. In my father's words" miko I was surprised he wasnt supposed to win" him being a smart horse and using his HEART he forced himself to win!!! My dad drove 50 miles back and forth from my moms and his apartment to keep affirmed healthy. I love u dad and proud of you!!!!
@wecandobetter98214 жыл бұрын
Although I love horse racing the rules allowing horse owners to cherry pick running in the 3 Triple Crown races is really unfair to the horses who run in all 3. Think about a horse who wins both the Derby and Preakness only to lose the Belmont to a horse who sat out the first 2 grueling races. It’s just not a level playing field.

Mariana Long If she had entered she would have broken down just the same. She wasn't built to last and those three grueling races would have killed. Ruffian was fantastic but her bones were too weak.
@marysueeasteregg9 жыл бұрын
Bella Kwan Siu I don't think any horse would have beaten Secretariat that day . . . but it's impossible to "prove" no horse could. There's no way to be certain. Horses *have* run a mile and a half -- on turf, rather than dirt -- faster than he did at the Belmont. Any since the Belmont is the only race left on dirt at that distance, there is little opportunity for his record to be beaten.
