Lovely ballet for breakfast. Any tips on how to avoid foot sickling when speed-flicking foot?

The shape of the foot is the result of the rotation of the thighbone in the hip socket.

Thank you. And all that 4th position and transfer of the weight at the barre helps lock the thighbone in the socket. Now need help locking the knee during tendu side-extension....@@HolisticBallet

@@anibrown5374 I would not use the word 'locking' as I associate this with blocking movement. I prefer using 'lengthening', 'aligning', 'engaging', etc. Please mention the knee question in the next class and I'll explain.

I was curious; does the pas de cheval shared here give a foundation for other techniques - perhaps more dynamic movement in petit and grand allegro? I was half guessing that drawing everything back from pas de cheval might lead to a jump or beated steps?

Firstly, I think it's a coordination exercise. Further, many stepping movements are initiated via a pas de cheval. You also need it for petit allegro. Watch the first act of Giselle when Giselle and Albrecht have their famous first dance together.
