Scooping around with the back leg is physically easier on the hips as well as maintaining 'spot', when slow turning, always knowing where you are. Are some of us built back to front?
@HolisticBalletКүн бұрын
It is easier in a way. It can feel more natural as it is a 'forward movement' and we mainly move forward rather than backward in regular life.
@anibrown5374Күн бұрын
@@HolisticBallet so nothing physical like hip sockets direction or turnout?
@HolisticBallet21 сағат бұрын
@@anibrown5374 yes, moving this way aligns more with the direction of most peoples' hip sockets. You should feel similarly during relevé-passé en dedans.

I'm new to ballet. Started at 62. Never had it before. I am now almost 68, and I'm strong and now have the muscles, but I'm super struggling with center work cognitively and balance-wise; it's extremely frustrating and humbling. I am so happy to have found YOU. This lesson was so helpful in many ways. Thank you for giving front and back views and for slowing things down. Ballet is the hardest thing I've ever attempted, and I never give up. Thank you for making it seem possible that someday I can do center. Thank you.

Thank you for showing us this step. One question: I see pas de bourree forward and backward only done not changing feet. Could it be done changing feet or is it stuck this way? I tried to do it changinge feet and it seems okay. Maybe that would be something else?
@HolisticBallet2 ай бұрын
Thank you for your question. The forward and backward one is called pas de bourrée bateau and is a regular ballet step, therefore not meant to change feet. What you may be thinking of this like this: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqKnf4qPorJ-Z80

Dear Franziska, there are some good things in your demonstration, but I will allow myself two remarks: although it is for debutant, the movement is too decomposed, the Degage should not arrive in extension in the Diagonal, because it is 'Melted' in the Quarter of Rond-de-Jambe: the change of Diagonal is excellent, but there is no "Cinquieme". The Left Foot Slips by the First passage to reach the extension in the new Diagonal, the Right Leg will be in "Pointe" in Arabesque. The Pas-de-Basque can stop there, or end with a Cinquieme, closing the Right Foot behind, to chain another Pas-de-Basque, towards the Left (for example). I would like to sign that when you close in Cinquime Position, it is no longer a "Glissade", but a "Temps-Lie". I hope you will take advantage of the advice. Most cordially.

Maybe this is a stylistic difference, but I've been doing it with a tombe 4th facing stage right with right leg bent and left leg straight, left arm in 1st facing stage right, right arm straight facing more upstage.
@HolisticBallet3 ай бұрын
Thank you for your input. I am having trouble visualising your version. You are saying that it the version you describe is not similar to any of the three I demonstrated in this video? It'd be great if you could find a video of your version and post it here.
@GeorgeOu2 ай бұрын
@@HolisticBallet I mean on the second version you are doing where you tombe plie second position in the legs, I am delayed rotating the body by nearly a quarter and my body is still facing the leg I tombed onto. My downstage arm is in 1st position. But this is very brief because the arms quickly open to second. So it's more of a forward tombe lunge to an open 4th position.
@HolisticBallet2 ай бұрын
@@GeorgeOu thank you, that's very interesting and shows how nuanced ballet training is.
@GeorgeOu2 ай бұрын
@@HolisticBallet I think it's a minor stylistic difference in the transition and barely visible because it happens so fast. The ending pose is what really shows because it's held longer.
@GeorgeOu2 ай бұрын
@@HolisticBallet I found a version from Olga Smirnova that does it the way I show it. I think that's just an alternate style. I am trying to send you the picture on IG.

I’ve also been taking ballet classes for about seven years s now it’s really hard and I’ve taken a couple of your zoom classes and I really like your ballet instruction. You teach ballet, beautiful you’re beautiful dancer, and I was looking for, something a little bit little bit more challenging in a big beginner intermediate way and I like this video Your combinations are a little fast but they’re good for me.
