How's the AF on video? I'm thinking to wait for ZV-E10 2 in 2 months, or get X-S20... Mostly for at home KZbin... But I'd love to have the Fuji for travel as well because I'm moving to Japan next year but I have seen horror AF examples of the camera losing focus in the most WTF moments that are hard to believe from a camera of that price point. @Thomas.B.a2 ай бұрын
Hi Pascal, thank you so much for your great videos. Maybe I need an advice because I am really undecided about switching from Sony a6700 to the X-T5 because I am a bit more on the photography side. Since I did a step up from my older Sony A7 II to the A7 IV and then because of the size to the A6700. I was never very happy. Liked the results and the Sony always(!) got me there. But I miss the great feeling of photography while traveling. Maybe the Sony is somewhat too "technical" and has a bad EVF in my opinion. I am asking here because you mention similar experiences with the fun factor of photography/travelling/videography. Starting on 31.12 to travel Southeast Asia for about 6 months. We try to do many "animal focused" experiences like jungle trekkings, bird watching etc. So I am a bit worried about the Fuji Autofocus. I think x S20 and X T5 are almost the same. My girlfriend will go with the x S20 so the Display on the X T5 is fine for me. If we want to vlog or sth, we can take her camera. What do you think about switching to the X T5 in my case because of the FUJI Vibe (also for the Film Simulations in Video - we don't like to color grade much)?

Ah the existential crisis I go through all the time. Earlier I used to be trigger happy. Now I usually enjoy the moment. And then I take photos afterwards. Sometimes I visit a place with the primary purpose of taking photos. There I set my priority to take photos. every trip, every day is different. As a traveller I try not to give in to the psychological pressure of ‘take breath taking photos or your trip is ruined’ motto.

The more you know your gear, the more it will be a part of you and not be obstructive. I can switch my settings without looking because I know the dials and buttons by feel. So what would be a complicated shot for others (which requires a lot of fiddling), I look like that I'm just taking a quick snapshot but I've already decided and curated it in my mind how to shoot it and a rough final image. You can only achieve this with experience though. I also got a camera body which ergonomics feels good in hand and which controls I can easily reach one handed. The bodies with more controls tend to be pricier than entry-level ones though.

Great video as always, thank you. It's amazing how full frame evolved recently, a ZV-E1 or A7CII with a 20-70 f/4 is a lot smaller and lighter than anything equivalent from APS-C. You would need a 13-45mm f/2.7 lens on APS-C to match the depth of field, which in practice means multiple lenses like in your example here - full frame will also perform a lot better in low light. You can of course get fantastic results with APS-C but it's becoming a harder sell when you can get faster lenses, smaller/lighter package and better results from full frame (UK prices): - Sony ZV-E1 (or A7CII) - £1.56k + £160 (28-60 kit lens) + £450 (Tamron 17-28) + £315 (Tamron 70-300) = £2,485 - Fujifilm X-S20 - £1.02k + £252 (18-55 kit lens) + £800 (Tamron 11-20) + £409 (Fuji 55-200) = £2,481

Sony doesn't have film simulations and film recipes. This is what a lot of people keep missing in their comparisons, and it's arguably one of the top reasons why people love Fuji cameras and continue to choose them over Sony.
@DigiDriftZone10 ай бұрын
@@wesleychapman9001 Recent Sony cameras like ZV-E1 and A7C II have user LUTs, so you can add in your own "film simulations" and access them with a swipe. There are ones that mimic Fuji but you're not limited to just those - only for video though, hopefully they'll add this for photos like Lumix did.

Mate, its amazing how what you said about lightness of FF set ups is completely UNTRUE. So, comparing weight of mentioned ff cameras with lens to crop fujifilm xs-20 with lens used in the video we have (in kg): Sony A7CII + Sony 20-70 f/4 = 1.07 Sony ZV-E1 + Sony 20-70 f/4 = 0.82 Fujifilm X-S20 + Sigma 18-50 f/2.8 = 0.65 Not to mention sony colour science and zero fun using these. Yep, for videography its usable with slog and luts, but its just mehhh for photography. To each its own
@DigiDriftZone10 ай бұрын
@@andriibudim 20-70mm is equivalent to 13-46mm f/2.7 on APS-C, find me a similar lens on APS-C, I'll wait :) -- but all joking aside, once you find equivalent lenses, full frame is often lighter, look at that Fuji 55-200mm, compare it to the Tamron 70-300 on full frame, the FF is much lighter. Take the kit lenses of 28-60 on FF vs 18-55 on Fuji (or that Sigma), full frame is much lighter. I recorded a video about this on my channel giving many examples of comparable lighter/smaller/cheaper full frame alternatives to APS-C if you're interested :) Sony colour science has improved drastically in the past year or so and they shoot RAW, so you can apply any Fuji look you want in post, I'll grant you being able to have an already stylised look straight out of camera is important for some. So let's see : ZV-E1 + Sony 28-60mm = 649g X-S20 + Sigma 18-50mm = 776g Thanks for playing.

I think the Sony APSC is just not interesting, I feel nothing looking at it. Fuji has the special look, both the photos but also the camera and small lenses itself. Only a small full frame like the A7C can rival it but then again that misses features like 4K60 and the A7CII costs €2k, so also no option. If there was a small, light full frame Sony with the hybrid feature set for under €1.5k with small fast lenses, then we'd have a case for Sony, but otherwise I don't see it, especially not for hobby shooters. Professionals have other priorities anyway, they probably rather walk around with a 1kg Canon uggle over a nice little Fuji, but as a travel or street hobby photographer your friends would get scared if you bring such a clunky Canon beast lol
