Excellent description of passage planning; fortunate one had the availability of copious navigation instruments, all fully operational. Hats off to you all for a safe trip, beautiful job of editing Brent; of course behind every successful man stands a strong and intelligent Woman.

well done guys, looked a lot more enjoyable than your last passage. I assume you hired a different router.
@CatamaranImpi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you Colin - yes it certainly was a more enjoyable passage and must say we put a massive effort into the planning of this one and once we saw the gap, made the decision to jump on it, appointed a different weather router to send us text messages on the inReach garmin along the way - he was our eyes to wether changes and did a great job updating us along the way . Cheers my friend Brent and Ana

Yes we’ve met a few KZbinrs out here 😂 - and we sure do feel like the oldies 😉. Yes exactly our thoughts is how they did this in the old days but then again not as many vessels were in the water and many were lost to the sea … it’s still something I marvel at though - how people in those years navigated by the stars, the winds and currents 👋

I read Ann Gash's book, "A Star to Steer Her By". She was a grandmother who decided to sail a 27 foot Folkboat to England from Sydney in 1975. Despite having very little experience she set off using a sextant and some pretty ordinary charts and photocopies. She had no radio and missed St Helena due to a navigation error. She didn't even tell her children where she was going. Now people need a GPS just to go to the shops. She later would say she was just going for a sail and went to New Zealand without saying where she was off to. Just 1241 Nautical miles each way.

G'day you guy's, thanks again Brent for the detail on your passage planning. As a land lubber I do find it interesting. You may have seen in the news that we have been experiencing some pretty significant flooding here in Echuca. Congratulations Granny and Grandpa
@CatamaranImpi2 жыл бұрын
Thank you David Yes, I can hardly believe how bad the weather has been over Australia - so sad to see all the flooding 😞. I hope you’re ok Thanks for taking the time to comment and I sure am looking forward to seeing the little one 👋
