Great selection with The Pharcyde. This track is one of the all time gems. A Tribe Called Quest should be reviewed next. "Check the Rhime" "Jazz (We've Got)" and "Luck of Lucien" are all really fun tracks that you will enjoy.

Fun fact, when this song originally dropped in 1992 it contained a sample of Jimi Hendrix - Are you Experienced. This was still the time period when sampling rules were taking shape. If you listen to the beginning of Are you experienced, then the beginning of this song you can see how they had to change this. It did release on cassette and CD with the original Jimi Hendrix beginning.

This is what's missing in today's so called Hip Hop. From about '88 to the late '90's, music sampled was crates and crates of R&B music, some groups very obscure, but it's that silky sound of R&B that help make the rap music back then. When groups like a Tribe Called Quest, and this group started infusing jazz into their music, a entire vibe was created. Today's music is all digitalized from some drum machine, which makes it hard to listen to. Also lost is the creativity of the lyrics - nothing but garbage today. One of the best rap lines in my opinion is from A Tribe Called Quest on the song Award Tour from the excellent Midnight Marauders album, Q-Tip spits "lyrically, I'm Mario Andretti on the Momo", most people probably didn't know who Mario Andretti is (a Formula 1 racecar driver) and one had to look up what a Momo was (the removable steering wheel used by Formula 1 drivers). The line is made spectacular when most rappers would just say they are great rappers lyrically, but Q-Tip compares his lyrical style to a world class Formula 1 driver. That type of wordplay is lost in today's music.

You may like this one more than Lil Wayne's because this group is birthed from the Tribe Called Quest or Del la soul sector of rap. REQUEST: Busta Rhymes - "Put your hands where my eyes can see." That one lots of people will want to see your reaction to. It's one of the most crazy but balanced videos and songs he's ever done, and his energy in it is great, or "Woo Haa" from him, but that one is just nuts. Reaction videos to those are fun.
