I've been doing the 2R AON for a few weeks now with the bracket, but my goal for this week is to actually walk away and not watch. Had a taste of it last week w/ a 5' 3B on NBEV. I entered the trade..went to start some dinner, came back 10 min later to check on things and it was 1 cent from target. :) I like everything about this idea. Thanks, Anmol!

Sounds great, but difficult to imagine how this works in a volatile market: 1. What is your experience regards to Win/Loss ratio, does it make sense to place bracket orders before the market opens and shoot for the initial run or sell-off? Or the Win/Loss ratio will be better by placing oders only after 5-15-30 minutes after the open? 2. Usually the entry price is easy to determine. However, the market is moving fast or sometimes the patterns show up "too late", so before transmitting the bracket order the stop price, the target price and therefore the share size needs to be adjusted (again) to keep the Risk roughly constant. This takes time How do you have time for adjusting your stops and and share size in a volatile market? Or you play only on higher time frames like 15-30-60 minutes, and this startegy does not fit to 2-5 minutes time frames? Thanks
@Live.Traders
@Live.Traders 4 жыл бұрын
I dont trade pre market so no orders before market opens. You wait for the market to open and then actually wait for a pattern to setup and then you place orders appropriately for that pattern. Share sizing needs to be done based on $Risk on the trade also known as R unit.

I like the fact that you literally showed how you go about placing the order. I use bracket orders but I think a lot of the education on like talks about and explains about things but doesn’t literally show how to, and for people that are visual or more tactile learners literally showing how makes all the difference. Wish I would have seen this before I started trading. Thank you for all the info definitely going to try your system. QUESTION. Do you ever look at the stock and the end of the day that hasn’t hit stop or mark and decide to hold for a swing?

I know you’re slammed but I had a question for you. If you have a moment. Considering market sentiment when I compare the stock I’m looking at with overall strength to nasdaq, s&p and dji (using the “compare” indicator on TOS) does the stock have to be above all three in order to be considered strong positive sentiment? Or am I looking at it wrong and need to look at the the degree in which the stock is currently trading over the last few bars?

Thank you for that great video. Takes a lot of stress out of trading. One question: How do you place your limit orders? How do you choose what price you will enter? Thanks.
@Live.Traders

That is based on the pattern is is setting up. So limit orders are mostly used for entering into Pull backs , Buy setups or Sell setups. For most other trades, Stop Limit is used.

Woah.. I havnt came across this bracket order strategy yet, and as someone who works a full time career and struggles with watching stocks during the day this is an eye opener. Definitely going to try this. I left IB a while back and went back to Questrade (I’m Canadian ) I’m wondering if they have these Bracket orders . Two questions, what time frame do u use and find best for setting this strategy? And Do you suggest placing these orders before market opens or when? Thanks great Video!!

Hey Anmol, good job done .You and Jared together is a double win. My questions are these: Bracket orders best set before the market open ? i know that could be a bit easier . Can a bracket order cancel an order if the stock hits the stop first versus hitting the entry first? Iʻm thinking you might need a "contingent" order connected to a "one -triggers-OCO". "one-triggers-OCO" handles everything, but the stock hitting the stop first. We are taught to cancel the trade if the stock hits the stop first.
@Live.Traders

Regular bracket orders will only go into place after they trigger but some platforms you can add contingency

I’m not there yet. You said if you know technical analysis and chart patterns and you’re still not profitable than this is the way to go but I’m taking the other approach and doing it backwards by learning prep and trade management and trade tracking and trade plan development first. I also learned how to place orders using the active trader ladder (TOS) with bracket orders and trailing stop losses. I don’t like the order entry dialog lol I like to see what profits and losses I’m locking in the P/L Open row. Can I learn all the prep and management first (all the boring stuff that will keep me in game is not so boring when you look at it like that) and then hit the technical analysis setups and patterns after I learn all that?

Stop losses need to be based on the stock you are trading and the pattern that it has not based on arbitrary value of the option. Then you size your options accordingly based on the stop loss and take the correct contract size. Glad you liked the video. Thanks

Here’s a problem I run into... Details, I use Webull, if that matters... But here’s what happens sometimes, I’ll have my sell price, position average, and stop loss, waiting for the buy price to hit, it hits and then sometimes after the buy goes through the stop loss and the sell target gets canceled? I’m not using much money right now, but I’d hate for that to happen when I start putting in real money. How can they cancel my take profit/stop loss options in my advanced order?

I am lucky to be learning this before I have even started trading. And when I do start with real money I will have an R of just $10 a trade (as recommended by Live Traders). So emotionally it will be much easier to just let it go. I know this will change when I eventually move up to $25, $100, $500 R values but by learning this behavior early and knowing that the plan works I hope to avoid the emotional pitfalls.

Awesome Anmol, love you and Jared's videos. Keep them coming! I think I want to trade a combination of this type of all day trading with swing trading. You can check up on your trades around 3:00 and make adjustments and if the trade continues in your favor keep a few shares for a swing trade into the next day. I trade with the TOS platform on TD Ameritrade and it's free commissions but not the fastest fill rates so it's difficult to scalp and trade the opens so this is right up my alley since slower fills might not be as critical with this. I was just interested in doing this myself. I've been using WeBull but haven't tried bracket orders yet. At the very bottom of the trade page, there is an option 'Take Profit/Stop Loss', enabling this option drops down more options to set a 'Take-Profit' target price and a Stop-Loss price. I believe this option is available for all order types. 'Time-in-Force' options are 'Day' for day trading, or 'GTC' (Good til cancelled) if you are looking to swing trade a stock. GTC on webull is set for 60 days.

Best advice for everything is to Track both and compare after 3-6 Months and use whatever worked the best over that time.

Thanks Anmol for the video. I have recently been trying both set and forget when I can, some orders are not allowing me to. And have also tried moving my stop up after 1 R , I have gotten stopped out because of that so I am trying to just use set and forget in a bracket when possible

After listening to this Anmal; I will DO THIS ! Someone might say: well what about the 84% rule? You have proven that this rule is way too less likely to happen; to be pulling your hair out over! Thank you!
@Live.Traders
@Live.Traders 4 жыл бұрын
Awesome, Let me know how it goes. 84% is good too but jared manages a bit differently than me, He goes breakeven so it's okay to re-enter as he tracked it and his stats say it works. Long run i would always go with what the stats say. I do not raise my stop so i just stay in it till it hits target or stops.
