Thank you teacher! The lesson was very helpful to me. It carefully summarizes almost the grammar knowledge of passive forms. I love the "your turn" section where you gave learners instructing examples and you left us number 5 to challenge our understanding. My answer is: The situation is serious, something must be done before it's too late. See you again, teacher.

Hi, Well done! Your sentence is correct but you don't need the "by someone" as that is implied when using the passive. The situation is serious. Something must be done before it's too late. I hope that helps!

Mam what is the difference between perfect infinitive and past perfect?
@oxfordenglishnow
@oxfordenglishnow 10 ай бұрын
The perfect infinitive is a construction that involves "to have" + past participle and is often used to show the completion of an action before another action or point in time, while the past perfect tense involves "had" + past participle and is used to describe an action completed before another past action or a specific past moment. I hope that helps!

Dear Splendid Prof , what about these sentences: a) More than fifty people HAVE BEEN evacuated SO FAR. or b) More than fifty people HAVE BEEN BEING evacuated SO FAR. If I use " so far = until now " the action is completed at that moment, thus I should use Present perfect in passive voice and not present perfect continuous in passive voice . c) The cathedral WAS renovated in the 1970s and not "...has been renovated in the 1970s" I use was renovated because of "in the 1970S in specific time" Am I wrong ? Please help me ! I do love English language, but sometime it makes my crazy. Thank you kindly. A
@oxfordenglishnow
@oxfordenglishnow 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Andrea, With your first 2 sentences, a is correct. a) More than fifty people HAVE BEEN evacuated SO FAR. As for your sentence c) I agree WAS is the correct answer because we have the time flag of the 1970s and the action is complete. Hope that helps!
