Watching all these shows - Al Ludden WAS Password. His personality was as powerful as any of the stars on the show, but his skill in containing it while steering them and the games and the show made him one of a kind. No wonder Betty White fell for him. When she was asked, many years after he had passed away, if she would ever marry again, she said: When you have the best, why bother with the rest? RIP Al Ludden

R.I.P. Mr. Orson Bean. One of my favorite jokes of his was: The mafia was roughing up this French guy who they say stole a million dollars from them. They ask their interpreter to ask the French guy where he hid the money. The French guy won't say and the interpreter informs the mobsters "he refuses to talk" so they rough him up some more. The French guy still won't tell and the interpreter tells the mobsters "he still won't talk". So the mobsters tell the interpreter to tell the French guy if he won't talk they'll shoot him. The French guy gives in and confesses he buried the million bucks in his backyard 5 yards west of the pine tree. The interpreter tells the mobsters "Nope, he _still_ refuses to tell where the money is". LOL! A truly charming, mild-mannered but quick-witted comic. Thank you for the laughs, Orson.

@loissimmons6558
@loissimmons6558 5 жыл бұрын
They interviewed the contestants before the show to find out the salient details of their lives. When a female contestant had a job outside the home, Allen would ask a question to find out what kind of job it was. Of course we don't know the details of those interviews. In those days, there were women who had outside jobs but still were prouder of being a wife and mother. And with college students, whether male or female, Allen would ask their major or what their plans were after graduation. As a student of history, I know that social norms and conventions in the past two to three generations have changed at a dizzying pace compared to most other times in human history.

I think they should have let them accept signal due to pronunciation. Sign is the long I. Signal is the little i sound. Sort of ridiculous! Also really surprised that Orson Bean's opponent didn't immediately think of Vampire when he said Dracula. I think he thought she was kind of dumb but didn't want to say anything directly because he said something to the effect that it was a direct hint. Also she didn't get cheat when he said examination, crib, etc. And she couldn't even get the word rake until about 8 clues. It was too obvious. I'd be so mad at her if I was Orson. What a DUMMY!!!
