Dave thank you, I really enjoy watching your demonstrations, this is another incredible piece of work and I love your mindfulness references when you do the demos. You can actually see the love and freedom you put into this painting, like a great chef does with his food, lol. Do you ever use pan pastels combined with the pencils? I have pencils, sticks and pan pastels which I recently acquired.

Hi Sonia... thank you so much for your kind words... thrilled you can feel this shining through the painting. 😊 I have observed others using pan pastels and are considering trying them out. I am concerned that the pans would add too much pigment where this would have an adverse effect on my technique. Thanks for watching my video... much appreciated... all the best 💕🙏

@@DavePortersArt I just wanted to let you know the pan pastels are not opaque like stick pastels. They make a blender also and it makes the colors as sheer as you want it. You can mix them as you would other colors with the blender off of the surface (paper) for a sheer layer. They really are lovely the way they mix like paint with the tools like a brush. They work great for the underpainting or for the complete painting. I like using them for the background. It really speeds up the process. Jason Morgan Wildlife Art on KZbin uses Pan Pastels for the background often. There are good examples on the Pan Pastel website also. I’m really loving your approach and your techniques. Thank you for sharing your art and teaching your process. I going to sign up for your Patreon channel.
