My companion and I attended Synagogue several times, wore our Yarmulka's and had great conversations with Jewish members afterwards, never trying to convert anyone, just being friends. We went to lunch with a couple of Rabbi's and loved it, had a wonderful time. My great-grandfather was Jewish and converted to our church and have always felt a closeness to Jews and Judaism. Ironically, we share A LOT of similarities with Judaism and our people share similar historical pains here in the U.S. I've often joked that if you took Jesus out of our worship service, you'd have Synagogue.

23:55 - "The family is an idol in a sense because it is more important than God." This reminds me of a story told by all faiths that can be a parallel to this concern. A man on a roof is trapped by a flood. He prays to God for deliverance. A truck wades through the rising water and the driver beckons him to climb aboard and escape. He rejects the truck saying that God will save him. The river rises and he prays again for deliverance. A rescue boat arrives and he is beckoned to climb in. Again he rejects the boat saying that he is waiting for God to save him. The waters continue to rise to the roof where he is and he prays again for deliverance. A helicopter flies over him and drops a ladder for him. He rejects the helicopter saying God will rescue him and it leaves. The flood waters finally sweep him away and he dies. When he gets to Heaven, he asks God why He did not save him. God replies, "What more did you want me to do in order to save you? I sent you a truck, a boat, and even a helicopter and you rejected them all. It is your own fault that you died." There are those, who too often, count on God to create some magnificent scene to accommodate our every insignificant desire as though he were a magician who must perform magic tricks for our amusement. The truth is that God uses small and simple means to accomplish great things. - - - Now compare this to what Pastor Jeff is saying about the family, that God is all we need to make us happy. Imagine a person, being overly cautious not to put things ahead of God, or so they assume, neglects, or even rejects things like his marriage, his family, etc. He dies and gets to Heaven and says to God, "Ok, here I am. I was faithful and put you at the forefront of everything in my life, rejecting anything that might stand in the way of that. Now make me happy!" God then replies, "What more is it that you think I am going to do to make you happy? I gave you my gospel and the recipe for happiness that it contains, which includes marriage and families, yet you rejected it thinking you knew better. Don't you know that I want my children to be happy both on Earth and in Heaven? My gospel is the same here as it is there. Each of my children may choose whether they accept or reject my gospel making them responsible for their own happiness. I gave you a chance to be happy, but you insisted that your way was better than mine. I will only give you my gospel, not more magic tricks. If you reject my gospel, you reject me."

Great conversation! If i may add one thought about the importance of family as it pertains to God and salvation. It is said that salvation is a personal matter and exaltation is a family matter. Our individual salvation is between us and God, however our exaltation is far more than that. We are all part of God's literal family (Acts 17:28; we are Gods "genos", or literal kin or offspring). God's whole work and glory is "to bring to pass the immortality and eternal life of man" (Moses 1:39). God glories in bringing His seed up to His level, to experience all the joy He has. To be like God, we must engage in this work too. We must look beyond our own selves and reach out in love to those around us. As we "loose ourselves" in the work of God, we actually "find ourselves." Exaltation is developing that outward love that God has, and this can only be done by the Spirit of Christ transforming us to become more God-like, more Holy, more elevated in nature and in being..... i.e exalted.

Thank you Jeff! I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and I so appreciate the respect that you have shown throughout your video clips. To ditto the previous comments made, the world would be a better place if everyone were as kind and thoughtful with their words and actions and attitude as you are toward everyone. It seems like you have set out to learn, not cut down. And I think the thing that has stood out to me the most with both of you here, and Jeff’s other videos, is that when we really are converted to Jesus we truly and deeply remember that when Jesus himself was questioned about what the most important commandment was He said LOVE! I am a true believer that anything can be discussed and friends made when Love 💗 is at the center of the conversation. And we can be great friends at the end of the day even if we don’t agree about everything. This is a personal thought of mine, not doctrine from my church, but I believe that just maybe one of the tests God is giving us here on earth is to see to what degree we can Love everyone… not just those who agree with us. But agree to disagree and still be honorable and respectful and even Love everyone. And I love your curiosity. Just THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
@tj61112 жыл бұрын
@23:25 If I could interject, there's context for our doctrine on the family: Latter-day Saints believe God has revealed that His purpose as God is to bring about the immortality and eternal life of man. His purpose is to build a place for His children to be tested on outside of His presence, send them there, test them, redeem them, and bring them back to live forever in His presence. So when Latter-day Saints talk about "eternal life," we believe that God is going to teach us what it means to have an 'eternal' life. You could even say He's going to teach us how to live his 'lifestyle' for lack of a better term. We believe He is going to teach us to do what HE does. Part of that lifestyle is eternal relationships. We believe the family unit is central to this eternal plan that God has for us. It's the vehicle by which we come into the world, are taught the gospel of Christ (hopefully), and experience our closest relationships. But just because we believe the family unit is central to this plan and that it's a feature of what it means to receive "exaltation" doesn't mean it replaces God or our need to place our relationship with Him as the top priority. But our doctrine on 'the eternal family' is completely unique to the rest of Christianity.
@hackerj232 жыл бұрын
Thanks for doing this! My answer to the family-replacing-God question is that we emphasize the familial relationship of God as our Father. We see God through the lens of family. So our goal to be with our family forever is a reflection and parallel of our desire to be with God forever since he is our literal Father in Heaven.

Accepting and following the Savior transcends all.

Loved the tone! As a latter-day saint I kept thinking "that's a great point!" to Jeff's statements without feeling defensive or attacked. The whole conversation at the end about heaven is a true differentiator between doctrines that I wish had been articulated a bit more clearly. Even more than putting "families" over God, I think latter-day saints put "individual exaltation" over God which is really alarming. However, I think the correct doctrine is that we believe in becoming one with God (John 17). This means losing ones self (Matt 16:25), not exalting ones self. It's not as common to discuss it in those terms but I believe that's the correct application of our doctrine. So, in exaltation we are completely united with God and therefor we ARE God and share his attributes rather than eternally being separate and less than him. Our purpose isn't just to be saved from sin as a lesser being, but to grow to become totally united God. To take it further, God is Truth and our suffering is a result of separation from truth so Christ allows us to be totally united as one with truth (God). So, that family connection is really just a universal unity as Jeff described more than the family unit we think of in mortality, IMO. Still, I completely understand the resistance to this belief but hopefully it makes sense.

I think of ordinance work as our path to becoming joint heirs with Christ. All of our ordinance work connects us to Christ and strengthens our bond (covenant) with Him and Heavenly Father and as we practice living higher laws, we transform into holy individuals. In becoming like God, I've understood it to mean we will be godlike, emphasizing lowercase g. We cannot ever become God. Like David said there is no replacing God, He is still always and will forever be our God. His son, Jesus Christ will always be our God the Son, our Savior and Redeemer. We rely solely on His grace for our salvation and exaltation.

The relationships within our families is the best way to know and feel the love of our Eternal Heavenly Father. When we work for good family relationships, we are progressing towards what God is, a loving, giving, all knowing, omnipotent Father. It’s all about how we treat one another, especially as family. That’s why the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- Day Saints puts so much emphasis on the family. But it’s more, God has one family, I’m a part of that so if anything, the focus on the family is 100% about GOD! The point is ( when I’m sealed to my wife, now my family is sealed to God. Meaning I “if I choose through my actions and keep covenants I’ve made during my life,” I will be with God, I will be a part of HIS family which is eternal, To live a Christ like life, is the way, the example or model to follow… Long answer short, the emphasis on families in the church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints, is completely focused on God, it can’t overshadow it it’s not more important because the answers one in the same. One of the most important things that Latter Day Saints and other Christian faiths have in common is the love of family and healthy family relationships. We both believe that the joy we feel through these Christ centered relationships will endure throughout eternity. I have always appreciated that about my Christian brothers and sisters and have much respect for them in this common goal. Best video so far. You’re right, being with Heavenly Father forever is Eternal Life. “This is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent” (John 17:3) We believe in putting God before family but we also believe that family is central to God’s eternal plan of Happiness for us. We believe that Heavenly Father is the father of our spirits so when the scriptures teach that we are the family of God, we believe this in a very real sense. That being said, at the the end of the day, we follow God over all things. Here are some of our core beliefs: 1. We believe in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost. 2. We believe that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam's transgression. 3. We believe that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the gospel. 4. We believe that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost. 5. We believe that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof. 6. We believe in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth. 7. We believe in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth. 8. We believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God. 9. We believe all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God. 10. We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory. 11. We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may. 12. We believe in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law. 13. We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things. We also believe God is outside of time. Modern day scriptures declares that “all things for their glory (God and His angels) are manifest, past, present, and future, and are continually before the Lord.”

This was so inspiring- two people with different faiths being able to share what they believe with each other. Their commitment to a path of peace and Christian discipleship was more important to them than being right. After all, how will others know of our love for God other than our love for each other. As a member who grew up with a shattered family unit, this over emphasis on earthly family fulfilling us was always excruciating. Jesus is what I need. I was 15 when I realized Jesus was my center of gravity, God the Father is the only father I truly need. And I needed to seek them first. Jeff is right, this cultural oversight needs correction. Family is so important. But Jesus is the goal. He is the way. He is the life.

I have been a member of the LDS Church for over 50 years, and I only learned that the cheesy potatoes served at potlucks and funerals were called funeral potatoes during Covid when a new Relief Society President was called who was a Utah native. Cheesy potatoes was always an important part of potlucks, I just never heard anyone call it Funeral Potatoes. As for the Jello, again the lime green Jello with carrots and marshmallows is something I also associate with Utah transplants. My Ward's potlucks tend to have lots of Hispanic/Brazilian dishes. What else would one expect from southern Michigan.

I'm learning a lot from Pastor Jeff about how big God is. As a member of the LDS church, I believe that God has a body and is our Heavenly Father, and that Jesus Christ is His Son in the flesh. But recently I've really been contemplating how sometimes in the culture of my faith I think we oversimplify God. I agree with so much of what Pastor Jeff is describing God as. I believe that we see God from different viewpoints at different points in our life and gleam bits of understanding about Him, but that ultimately He is so much bigger than I can comprehend in this life. At the same time, I believe that He is a caring Father who knows me personally and hears my prayers and knows the details of my life. I believe there are many paradoxes like this as we strive to understand God and His nature. (The paradox of Him being beyond my understanding, yet also like a loving Father to me who knows me and wants me to know Him.) Another note: In the LDS church we often talk about "God" without distinguishing whether we are talking about Jesus Christ of His Father (who we call Heavenly Father). I believe this is because we believe that they are both referred to as God because Jesus Christ's Will and life are perfectly aligned with Heavenly Father's. So we do believe in Jesus Christ as God also.

I don't love the LDS 'Christ' because he is only the brother of Satan. The first spirit to be born in heaven was Jesus, (Mormon Doctrine, p. 129). Jesus and Satan are spirit brothers and we were all born as siblings in heaven to them both, (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, p. 8; Gospel Through the Ages, p. 15). Jesus said your sins would not be forgiven if you did not believe He was God. John 8:19 So they were saying to Him, “Where is Your Father?” Jesus answered, “You know neither Me nor My Father; if you knew Me, you would know My Father also.” 24 Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.”

Joseph Smith was very anti Christian. According to Joseph Smith, Christians are deceived by Satan, anti Christ, have the spirit of the devil in them, Christianity is all wrong, all our beliefs are an abomination and a 'perfect pack of nonsense.' The Book of Mormon says that I attend the church of the devil. (Regarding Joseph Smith’s alleged first vision where celestial personages appeared to him) . . . “My object in going to inquire of the Lord was to know which of all the sects was right, that I might know which to join. No sooner, therefore, did I get possession of myself, so as to be able to speak, than I asked the personages who stood above me in the light, which of all the sects was right - and which I should join. I was answered that I must join none of them, for they were all wrong, and the personage who addressed me said that all their creeds were an abomination in His sight: that those professors were all corrupt . . .” (Joseph Smith, History of the Church, vol. 1, p. 5-6). “What is it that inspires professors of Christianity generally with a hope of salvation? It is that smooth, sophisticated influence of the devil, by which he deceives the whole world,” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, compiled by Joseph Fielding Smith, p. 270). (In questions directed to Joseph Smith, the founder of Mormonism . . . ). First-“Do you believe the Bible?” If we do, we are the only people under heaven that do, for there are none of the religious sects of the day that do.” Third-“Will everybody be damned, but Mormons?” Yes, and a great portion of them, unless they repent, and work righteousness.” (Teachings, page 119). Brigham Young said. . . “But He did send His angel to this same obscure person, Joseph Smith jun., who afterwards became a Prophet, Seer, and Revelator, and informed him that he should not join any of the religious sects of the day, for they were all wrong,” (Brigham Young, Journal of Discourses, vol. 2, 1855, p. 171). John Taylor said . . . “We talk about Christianity, but it is a perfect pack of nonsense . . . Myself and hundreds of the Elders around me have seen its pomp, parade, and glory; and what is it? It is a sounding brass and a tinkling symbol; it is as corrupt as hell; and the Devil could not invent a better engine to spread his work than the Christianity of the nineteenth century,” (Journal of Discourses, vol. 6, 1858, p. 167). The Book of Mormon says. . . “And he said unto me: Behold there are save two churches only; the one is the church of the Lamb of God, and the other is the church of the devil; wherefore, whoso belongeth not to the church of the Lamb of God belongeth to that great church which is the mother of abominations; and she is the whore of all the earth” (1 Nephi 14:10). “And when the day cometh that the wrath of God is poured out upon the mother of harlots, which is the great and abominable church of all the earth, whose foundation is the devil, then, at that day, the work of the Father shall commence. . .” (1 Nephi. 14:17).

I think as a member of the LDS church, I have a natural defensiveness/fear that creeps in when it comes to talking about religion with the larger Christian population, and I realize it's because the LDS church is often targeted as being too different or being wicked and satanic. I know!! Maybe talk about feelings about family home evenings, family prayer 🙏 and family scripture study!! We never got to have those, growing up, unless I asked. So we had two official home evenings, and a number of family prayers. So when I needed to heal from depression and anxiety, I asked for senior missionaries (a couple) to come and have a home evening every Monday night with me for a while. That helped me to get well. That was after I had not been as close to my family for a time. Whether we call it family home evening or not, I do know that time with family, doing various kinds of things, is a commandment of the Lord, or part of it. If we don’t love ❤️ our family, how can we succeed at other things? Anyway, we did lots together growing up, anyway, and we ate together at dinner times, and on some weekends for nice breakfasts. We also went to see grandparents and other relatives, and on vacations and picnics out in the country, or to our grandpa’s cabin in the mountains. And our holidays were always celebrated in grand and glorious ways!! We were blessed!!

One thing that I kind if wish David hit on more is the way we view God. We believe he is our literal Father (the Father of our spirits), not just our creator, and I think that's the most fundamental difference between LDS doctrine and other Christians. As I listened to you talking about what God is to you, I was nodding along. He is all those things. But what he is most importantly is our Father. In the "pre-mortal" life, we lived with our Heavenly Father the same way children live with their parents. He, along with our Heavenly Mother, raised us and taught us. We knew we were not the same as him though (we were only beings of spirit, whereas our Father was a being of flesh and bone, and he was perfect, whereas we were not), and we desired to become like him. That is when He offered us this chance to come to Earth. The most important part of being mortal is to gain a physical body, and to learn to "bridal our passions" is the term we use most often, which just means to learn to be in control of our physical body, including our passions, and learn to choose the spiritual good over our physical pleasures. We're meant to gain experiences and knowledge, and our Father's commandments are not His effort to control us so much as telling us what we can do to make this life as painless as possible, even though having a mortal physical body will always come with some amount of pain. Kind of like when I tell my kids to tie their shoes or they'll trip and fall and hurt themselves. I've issued a commandment, but they don't have to listen. They can learn for themselves why they should tie their shoes if they want. Since we have all this agency to do the wrong thing if we feel like it though, we're not going to get through this life without making a mistake that will keep us from being able to dwell with our Father again. His kingdom is pure and perfect, and unclean things can't be there. So there was a plan to allow us to come back even with the mistakes we made, and that is where Jesus comes in. It was always the plan for him to come and live a perfect life so he could own us and be our mediator with the Father. It wasn't a stop-gap because we messed up. He's the only way we can live with our Father in the next lifr, but He wasn't the point of coming to Earth. The atonement he offered (and still offers) us is the most important event in the history of man-kind, because it's the fulfilment of the plan, and it's the only guiding light and hope we have of being with God in the eternities. Anyways I haven't watched all your videos, but the one's I have watched it has just been bothering me that this extremely important difference in doctrine hasn't been discussed at depth. This is the one difference where all other differences in our religions comes from I think. I would love you to learn more about it :)

The reason why family is so important to us is because we believe God is our family. He is our father in heaven. So being together with our family automatically includes our father who is in heaven. So from my perspective, it really means yes I want to be with god forever but I also want the rest of my earthly family to be with him as well. The emphasis we have on family really is just us focusing on bringing others to him including our family.

You brought up a great point about how it can certainly be easy to slip into loving our families more than we love God. This is true for everyone. God is our Heavenly Father, and as such, we should strive to love Him and give all thanks to Him. However, we are also commanded to be LIKE Him...How are we to be like Him if we are not raising a family and teaching them as Christ teaches us? Even though our love for God should be the prime focus in life, having an eternal view of family does not take away from that objective in any way, as long as someone is always giving the praise to God and looking towards Him in life. They don't have to contradict each other.

I also wish David had responded more directly to the question about if the importance of family is being placed above God, by just clearly saying "No, that's not what we're doing.", then explaining more from there. Jesus divides people and families. Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to turn ‘a man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law - a man’s enemies will be the members of his own household.’ (Mat 10:34-36) The God of truth (Isa. 65:16) is the God of the Bible. Since truth divides, then Jesus would naturally divide his followers away from those who reject and hate God’s truth, even one’s natural family members. Remember, Jesus divides families: Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law.” (Luke 12:51-53) Jesus Came To Divide - NOT Bring Peace On Earth To be worthy of Jesus and eternal life, one must side with God’s truth even though it divides his own family.

I love that. God really is so merciful and loving. I believe that whatever it is we are getting wrong will not allow us to recognize Him for who He is. It’s like when you imagine what someone must look like or be like solely based upon what you have read about them or heard about them and then you see them in person and think, “I was NOT expecting that! Is that really what they look like? No way.” That’s just my perspective here. His hands are always stretched out toward us. The distance between us and God is as big as we make it.
@DannyAGray2 жыл бұрын
@@pearlnik5 100% agree! For example, I relate my relationship with God in the light of him being, like, the perfect father. As in, everything you could ever want in an earthly father. I think that, while we don't know everything about God (and I'm fine with that because I'll never fully understand my own parents) his relationship with us is actually much more simple than we realize. He wants the very best for us, but he also gives us rules and commandments that we, as children, can't fully appreciate our see the reasoning behind. But also, as we learn and grow and draw closer to him, our eyes are opened to the simplicity of his plan, and he invites us to have a part in it. I fully recognize that my view may not be how others see it; in fact, I welcome it, because my view as shared above is very personal to me and I like having my part in it. But I just know we all want to come to Him and love Him; and I don't think He'll withhold that love from anyone truly trying.

I’m agreeing with you. I know He will never withhold His love, mercy or grace from us. What I am saying is we will be rejecting HIM because our picture of Him is off by that 3%. He will not meet those stipulations or criteria we have set for Him and will, therefore, not recognize Him. Fortunately, the Savior’s Atonement is eternal, so there is no time limit on progress.

@ Danny Gray - now you got me crying. I really like what you shared about ‘our eyes are opened to the simplicity of His plan and He invites us to be a part of it.’ John 21:15 ‘When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these”. I think it really is as simple as loving Jesus as our Lord. From there the spirit leads each of us in the ways to serve Him. Being a Christ follower is a relationship, not a religion. God bless you brother.

@@pearlnik5 I love what you said, but I might disagree with you slightly - just a tiny bit. I think it's always been easy to not have the full picture of Christ or of God... and I think that's part of the point. That is, after all, what faith is all about! The jews at Christ's time expected the messiah to be a great military leader who would come and set them free from their oppressors, focusing heavily on the Romans. I think their picture of him was off by way more than 3%. But then Jesus came and took a handful of those misguided jews and turned them into disciples and followers and apostles and ministers and really made something of that gap.

Your discussion on curiosity was spot on. I have seen it cut both ways with members in the LDS church. With some it had led to a stronger testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and others it had led to them falling away and losing faith completely.

Jeff, you know I've been hoping for this collab ever since I found your channel. This is Christmas in July for me!! Keep up the great work, brother! Much love.

Jeff, I listened to your experience in nauvoo. For a pastor trying to learn so much about this church, I feel like you need to start with the basics. I am aware that you know our Temples mean the world to us. These temples are incredibly necessary. For a man that has been educated, I hope that they informed you that the Bible has missing books as well as even scriptures taken out of chapters. The temple allows us to live a higher law. Keep studying, your missing or just really don’t care or understand some incredible teachings. I am glad that I have enjoyed your talks with one another

I just found your channel yesterday, and have binged all your videos(except the shorts) On the issue of family, I just want to add a bit about the ordinance of Sealing(Eternal marriage) When we are sealed, the covenants we make are with God to be loyal to our spouse, but we don't actually covenant directly with our spouse.

I love that you have this channel. I am a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I love all religions. In today's world we need religion. We need the Savior in our life's. Each Christian faith have varying thoughts, feelings, beliefs and understanding of the gospel. At the end of the day the Savior is at our core and we need to support each other during these hard times.

As a descendant of plural marriage in the church, I wasn’t really thrilled with his answer. But overall I loved the discussion. Thank you.

What answer would you give?
@PeggyWest11272 жыл бұрын
@@couragecoachsam I would answer that there have been a few times in history that God has allowed or even commanded plural marriage. Jacob (Israel) being the most well known. We wouldn’t have the 12 tribes of Israel without it. In the early history of the church we believe it was necessary. There were many more women than men in the church. Because of persecution we were moving as a community to the Rocky Mountains where the only people who were around to marry were the people who picked up and migrated together. It wasn’t like we were once again traveling to another city where you could meet several prospects for marriage. Women wanted to have families, family it a huge part of our religion as discussed. Plural marriage was only practiced by a very small percentage, but it was the Lords way of allowing all to have the blessings of an eternal marriage and family. I should add that I have been able to read the journals of my ancestors so I was able to really understand the why, the blessings, along with the struggles of it better. They were just writing about everyday life, but for me it’s a window into their lives that’s priceless. I’m so grateful for it. I would not have been born in the church without it.

@@PeggyWest1127 Christ has already told us that marriages and families would not be eternal. Only an evil Heavenly Father would damn people who deny the 'eternal principle of polygamy,' threaten to destroy Emma if she didn't go along with her husband's adultery, (D&C 132:54), have women sharing their husbands with other women for all eternity and the 'other women' serve as sex objects for LDS men who happen to get to the top level of heaven. The true and living God is love. Heaven is not a house of horrors. God loves everyone including women. Revelation 21 and 22 tell us what heaven is like. People are not separated on planets. Please. Please read your Bible as a child.

@@estherlewis7458 Im an Evangelical Convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints in the last couple years as is my Wife, and Ive come to appreciate the different intuitions of Evangelicals, and Latterday Saints. For example Joseph Smith was criticized for what Alma said about Jesus being born in the Land of Jerusalem, and I will see Alma as the Author because I received a witness from The Holyghost that the Book was translated by the Gift, and Power of God, and the statement from Alma adds Historicity, and not what others called a Collosal Blunder. Jesus was present in the Old Testament Isaiah 53 Testifies of him.

@@jcal6022 I received a witness that the Book of Mormon was false. Of course, as a Christian, I worship the true and living God, not an 'exalted man' from another planet. There are many, many other errors in the Book of Mormon. Joseph Smith made it very clear that he meant it to be fiction. Fortunately. Christ never said you needed to believe that the Book of Mormon was true to get to the 'top level' or any level of heaven. Christ offers forgiveness of sins, salvation and eternal life for free. That is how much God loves everyone! ❤️ I know for sure that when I die I will be with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

I so dislike the division between denominations. I think what your doing is fantastic. It certainly opens doors. In these times we need to all be United in Christ.

Here's a thought: The Latter-day Saint Church holds Temple Open Houses for pre-dedicated Temples all the time. This would be one way of coming and seeing the buildings themselves and to give your open and honest opinion on what you see there. No, it's not like you're actually doing Temple ceremonies, etc. but you can give your impressions on what you see there.
