This is an interesting reaction. I think you're wanting to hear his story, and that's understandable. For me, I used to be a Kanye fan during his "Jesus Walks" era, and maybe up till 808s and Heartbreak... 808s wasn't my "musically" favourite album... but overtime, it grew on me. I think Kanye knows how to capture "the moment" - like the sound of the moment in culture - because after a while, a lot of other Hip Hop artists started using that same 808s & Heartbreaks sound like years after him... he's kind of a "stream of consciousness" artist - that's how I'd explain his music. He feels, and he expresses. There may be some allusions he makes that people won't understand, and he doesn't explain them in the song, but those who understand those allusions totally get it. Dunno if it's a stretch, but I find similarities to Kanye with T.S Eliot or David Foster Wallace.

I get what the what the concerns of what part of his journey has led him to this transformation but consider what he's been saying outside the music. He's admitted porn addictions, the joy he has with his choir, dealing with the past and etc. I think the biggest selling point for me is that when you hear this particular track, there's a deep passion and I think people experience his healing transformation and they naturally join his Sunday live events. Which is another thing to consider, just look at his live events and their expressions are real and they really don't show restraint in their rejoice.I think this is my favorite track. To be honest I started my journey when I first heard this album and it gives me hope within myself since I've suffered some of the same struggles that he has. I pray he stays vigilant since he does have a history and god knows what he has to do to fight off those demons.

For me, I only heard a few songs pre Jesus is King album and just knowing that Kanye, a well known artist and many times controversial, he often puts off an arrogant attitude, doesn’t smile, and although he seems to be tight with his money sometimes his ways of spending gives a hypocritical vibe... I remember when Ashton Kutcher punked him on MTV... he gripped on the video tape reel really tight saying it was his (his own tape - he paid for it - he owned it)... I mean it was funny but the reality was this was a man of money and about money (kzbin.info/www/bejne/d5PaZ2RvetGJp6M). I mean I would agree to some extent, to a Christian, he was quite irritating. But when a man of this level of popularity, in the heavy league of artists that led many people to follow a certain way of life, certain lifestyle, certain choices... when this man puts out an album that shuts down and reverses all he has worked and lived his life proclaiming and doing and thanks God for it? Then this is an action that says a lot! the songs don’t have to be a book in the Bible telling the whole story, just the fact that he launched this kind of album, very different from his normal albums, with these kinds of words is a sign of conversion. Why a sign of conversion? Because he is essentially risking it all... the point is he can lose a lot of fans... the source of his wealth... the fans buy his products... and switching gears like this and risking without worrying and telling people in his interviews that “it’s all because of Jesus”, man, this is a true sign of Christian conversion. I get it though because many can misconstrue this as a marketing stunt... many are skeptical of his conversion... but the reason why is because we have the seed of doubt that.. some notion that conversion cannot reach people of this stature. I agree with many comments here... that you should react to his interviews so you can hear for yourself why he does this. I just have to say... I enjoy watching your reactions because it explains why your father is a pastor. He shares his comments, seemingly, with an openness to conversion and has a sense of wisdom that affects, in a good way, the ears and heart of those who listen. You are very blessed to have a father like him. And if you are playing the devils advocate position, heck you play it well - it shows in the comments people are making.
@madelinesylvia15015 жыл бұрын
I forgot to add... what pushes people or even myself to like this album a lot is the fact that his conversion is not only occurring in his song but in his life... how he has removed all TV and makeup from the kids rooms, how he is now telling his wife to tone down her outfits... she was like what????? You raised me to be to be this icon and now you telling me this? (he pushed and encouraged her to dress provocatively and in “style” and to wear her face in a certain way, etc.). His response was beautiful! Because it hurts him to see guys gawking at her, he said “it hurts my soul”... she is changing because she sees a genuine change in him. These are things we wives and mothers appreciate. Sometime we think we are not enough or don’t do enough for our spouses. So to hear a husband appreciate his wife and their children is beautiful. Also he did say, what moves him is that his children desire and want to go to church - he never expected this. It’s his path that made him realize he is the human guardian of their salvation.

We all have seen him publicly be bad and for him to sing this to his people is an awaking but being a god or a god knowing person you don’t see but if you even google his break down it was so public and I think that is why the album is his finally. For not just him but also his family. Kim is helping people in jail and both want there daughters to be so better!! Very strong song!!!

The young man needs to get away from the social media culture where people share absolutely everything about their personal life in music and on the gram. These celebrities don't owe us anything neither do we. They're people and his deliverance story is no different to anyone else. Kanye has already gone public in testimony about his journey to being delivered. That's enough. As long as the message in the album resonate with the word of God, dude needs to kick back and relax.

The title of the album and the music completely went over your head. It's not about Kanye, it's about Jesus. While he makes references to the changes that took place in his life, he made it clear the focus was always Jesus.

Dude is an atheist. His heart is unconverted so it's like throwing your pearls to the swine.

As somebody who has been on the insides of Major World branches of churches, have gone to Seminary, has been too many other countries and seen the true church as God has intended, I agree with you to an extent. It would be wonderful If Connie I had a conversion song or something that told his journey, but the more I have listened to this because I was not impressed at first, the more I see interviews because of my skepticism for his faith, I see that he Compares himself to Nebuchadnezzar and held himself up as a deity like figure at the center of the world and God showed him who really was Canton. He now wants people to see not his failures or his ego, but simply that Jesus is King. Any figure in the Bible didn't go around talking about all their horrible things and how God took them on a journey. Even the Apostle Paul only talked about his sin deity like figure at the center of the world and God showed him who really was King. He now wants people to see not his failures or his ego, but simply that Jesus is King. Any figure in the Bible didn't go around talking about all their horrible things and how God took them on a journey. Even the Apostle Paul only talked about his sin to show that he was not whole ear than thou and has been the worst of the worst. He admitted it, but his sole purpose was to honor God in point to Jesus. If this is what Kanye is truly doing, why is the american church wanting anything other than that? Isn't the whole point of church and discipleship to leave people to Jesus? Who cares about his journey? Do Christians who are already saved need to know it? That's the only thing I am pondering after watching this.

The album is called JESUS IS KING so Ima assuming his point in the album is to declare JESUS IS KING instead of hey everybody this how I got here to this point. He actually kinda gives points of hey I was lost living for the devil JESUS saved me changed my life. I guess he'll make another album that would Answer your questions of how he got to this awakening moment, probably also going to have his journey and he's going through a divorce, so he most likely might add that in there, the lost of his mom, where he first met Jesus and what not how he's growing to know him and having a personal relationship with him so will see on his next album.

I think the disconnect is that all we know about Kanye is what we have gathered from media. It's a small and misleading window into his life. He is a person and he has gone through a life long journey to get to this point. Its not like he just had an overnight transformation. In his own words he proclaims that he has been wrestling with God, and now he has given up the "fight" and surrendered to Jesus. You're not going to get a perfect description of his journey. That's so unreasonable because it has taken place over such a long period of time with countless experiences, emotions, thoughts, conversations, etc... there's just too many limits, such as his memory, the time and format of these songs, the english language being composed of words that we assign meaning to, to name a few.. It's sad that our younger friend here wasn't able to appreciate the messages. It just seems like it wasn't what he was expecting. Kanye has given plenty of testimonies recently in interviews, I suggest he goes and watches those.

I believe Kanye is using this album as a proclamation of his new found faith. Not just this song but the entire album. I am sure he will expound upon his journey, in his time. If it was to intricate, it may have been too complicated to hit as hard as this album has. First you have to kick the door down and get the attention of the people. Once they are interested then you can get into the detail of the transformation. Now, the people want to know his testimony. Especially for those that have the same musical interest or have had similar life experiences. That is the attraction of music. The words relating to ones life, from the artist perspective, and then the common enjoyment of the instruments and beats.

It’s shocking how little y’all seem to understand the album and Kanye’s journey in general. “They’ll be the first ones to judge me.”

Dude on the left: He IS telling his story!!! Do you not know anything about gospel culture? We Black folk don't talk about the deep stuff in the way that you all do. We sing, we write, we create.
