I was living paycheck to paycheck. I was pressured to give. I asked the pastor if the money went to helping the needy. His answer no, just the church community. No one has ever been helped by that Church. Another time he was bragging to another that he was getting a tennis court built. He already had a basketball court and swimming pool. He and his wife wore expensive clothes and neither had jobs outside the church. So I put two and two together.

My grandfather is a pastor. One evening we went out and he asked do I pay tithes. I told him I give my money to different organizations like in my Instagram bio it’s a link tree of organizations people can donate to ranging from helping the homless to kids with cancer. He said that my tithes belongs to the church because it is Gods and that I can’t do what I want to do with Gods money. I said when I give, I know exactly where it’s going but when I give to the church, I have not idea where it goes. He said it wasn’t my responsibility to know where it goes, that God tells the pastors what to do with it and deals with them according to what they do. Nevertheless, I still don’t give my money to the church. I am a woman of God and I love Christ openly but I can admit I do not believe in giving to churches like that.

I sent in a prayer request a couple years ago out of curiosity when he was first being looked into.😂 He never responded, but people who work for him blew up my phone for weeks and wanted to charge me for a prayer.😂 I told them I couldn’t talk because I was at work and never picked up the phone again for them. I may not be really religious, nor preach about how great my church is. I'm not doing this now either, i just wanted to make it clear that this is something I appreciate and think is a good thing. You're not asked for donations. You are just notified that donations are held every month, that you can participate in. And it's not just one, but multiple causes that you can choose to donate to. Feeding the hungry, helping those in poverty get clothing and paying rent, cancer research, etc. The only time a donation is asked is when a tragedy has happened like a hurricane or a dire situation. That's what happened to me when I got hit by a truck at 16. My church talked about my situation and asked that if anyone could help, please do: and they spread it to other branches, and they reached out too. It helped a lot when it came to medical bills, and we didn't even ask them to either. That's, in my humble opinion, how donations should be with churches. This "pastor" pisses me off so much. instead of helping people in need, he prays off of them. It's disgusting.

So, I've gone to church my entire life. I've watched my father tithe insane amounts of $ every Sunday. Once I became an adult I was already a mother and it was very hard to make ends meet. I still went to church every Sunday and I'd tithe every Sunday. Whether it was $5 or $20, I always tithed. There's a few times I've gone to church and gave my last $5 and no shit, within the next couple of days I would end up with enough money to make it through the week. You don't have to tithe a percentage of your income, you don't have to tithe at all! It's a personal choice and if your church puts pressure on attendees, find a new church. It's disgusting how awful some of these pastors are. My grandmother has a few televangelists that she watches and she will send them like $30 a month! She's been doing it for years at her older age since she's not always able to go to church. She's on a fixed income, until my dad passed he was paying her bills and she still barely had enough $ for necessities. But she still gives these a holes $ every freaking month. AND once in a while she'll buy their books. It's so sad how these people prey on older folks. She loves doing it and she's an amazing woman so whatever she wants at this point being 92 is fine by me but it's frustrating. Sorry for the rant. Yes, if you feel moved to give to a church then I'm all for it because I do believe that good deeds are returned 10 fold. But a good church will never pressure anyone into giving money, especially not money you don't have.

We tithed to make sure that Ethel could get her insulin & get her car insurance paid so she can make it to the hospital. We made sure everyone in the congregation never went without food, shelter and medical care. That’s where it came from. What it has evolved into is gross and disgusting

Side note, the part about him beating his child and calling it "discipline" is definitely a biblical thing. The bible literally says its ok to beat your slaves and says you SHOULD beat your children ("spare the rod, spoil the child"). My grandfather had a paddle that hung in his living room with this engraved on it. Its one of the many despicable things about people believing that book.
