Heer videos were always in regular rotation during the opening days of MTV. I remember watching them and telling my wife "the guitar player wants more video time" and "If that chick ain't careful he's going to cost her a career". A couple of years later he proved me right. She had the look,, voice and songwriting talent. He was jealous of the attention she got. Could have just enjoyed the ride (pun intended) and realized he is just the guitar player in a RnR band.

See her on tour now!!! She's more impressive now than in her heyday. She has made some adjustments to those high notes but it works-in key, no cracking, no way-past-her-time moments like some other singers of the time - male - David Lee Roth (god-awful) or female - Debra Harry (past her prime). Her husband is still on top of his game and adding piano to the mix. Played hits and some newer ones but well worth it. Why these two are not in the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is shameful. They are one of the best rock songwriting duos in American music history. They have hits, record sales, touring miles, and longevity. What more do they have to do to get in?

Interesting story behind this song. This was the first song John Melloncamp ever released, and it bombed. Then PB recorded and released it, and I believe it was her first hit. Shortly after that, Melloncamp exploded on the scene with Jack and Diane. So Melloncamp re released I need a lover, and it became a huge hit for him!

I really get sick of our over complaining "you owe me everything" childish generation we've made. I love Pat because she was who she was without apologies but also had something called grace and humility which is also lacking on our world today. Pat worked and EARNED everything she's ever made without "privilege" and i'm certain she had her fair share of record execs calling her "honey" and "sweetheart" but she never let that define her. It doesn't hurt having a great band behind her but give me Pat Benatar any day over lady gagme

@@rg2027x if you're referring to trans people the term transvestite originated in 1910 when the first transgender operations took place. Roman emporer elagabalus preferred to be called "lady" as opposed to "lord" and was considered to be one of the earliest trans figures in history.. and that was around 200 AD... so for 2 THOUSAND years before "your" great america.. based on your logic "women werent women"

Great. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transgender_history Why not just post the link to save all the typing Dan? Also, elagabalus should be capitalized as it refers to a person, not an entity.. Based on your logic, the only women who aren't women are transvestites. Historical fact: there were actual women (you know, birth-born ladies who _didn't_ have sex change operations) for 2000 years before America was established.
