RE5, African version of Dr. Salvador. RE6, mutated monster that has a chainsaw stuck in his arm. RE Rev, mutated captain with some how a buzzsaw sticking out his arm that can insta kill. RE Rev 2, Pedro got mutated and his drill acted like a chainsaw. RE7, Mia uses a chainsaw, Jack got a scissor chainsaw and you use a chainsaw.

Pat's description of Kamen Rider is partly why I like Power Rangers so much. It's just so laughably simplistic/dumb that it becomes entertaining. They punch, kick, and then use the best ability to fight monster. Then monster get big and they use big robots to blow up monster.

The gunplay/melee is in nearly every single level in the game, so I don't know what you're really trying to say here. I will definitely confirm that some parts of the game are less fun than others, but I don't stick to one or two. I just hit the "join game" matchmaking to help another player out with their campaign.

Sure the game isn't good but depending on AI to help out will really ruin this game's chances at all. I'm glad this game existed though because they needed to know this was a bad direction to take the series on.

Not to give the RE writers any credit but I think the perspective Jake has when pointing his gun at Chris isn't "you killed my dad" but more along the lines of "you just said you can see my dad in and IMMEDIATELY followed it up with you're the one who killed him." Now having never really gotten a chance to have an actual conversation with the guy I don't see how he could perceive this interaction as anything other than a threat. The only things he knows about his dad is that he was a monster that threatened the whole world, and all of a sudden the dude who stopped him is telling you you remind him of your dad, I'd be pissing myself thinking the dude has it out for me. But like I said that could just be me projecting onto a poorly written story.

I feel like the durability thing also has to do with the way the animations work; here it seems that many of the enemies just don't feel that satisfying to kill, compared to those in 4 whose heads pop from Leon's roundhouses. That and many of the levels in both 4 and 5 just feel like they are a lot more tactical in the way you go about solving puzzles or advancing in general. Compare even the worst of those to having to run around looking for tokens in this, they are still far better. As far as the really absurd stuff goes, it may not necessarily be far off from your typical RE nonsense, but there's a tonal difference that's very important, where they expect you to take everything seriously here and try to take the cheesy stuff from past games and churn drama from it that just doesn't work. And even then, the RE2 remake does a way better job of recontextualizing all the jank from the original.

You know, thinking on this, the biggest flaw of this game- and I'll get to why I think this more specifically- is that I feel like the problem with this games story (and why it is shit, and anyone who thinks it isn't is wrong) is that it feels like it was supposed to be done linearly at one point. But during development, because of the development being so ridiculous, they decided to slice up the story. This was not the correct decision to make- this game is going for an A, B, C, D and E plot, the standard plot of a disaster film; the standard plot of a Roland Emmerich or Michael Bay film, where there's a huge cast of characters, interconnected by the A plot- the disaster- and these separate strands weave in and out of each other. My evidence that this was clearly the intent is frankly two things: the games upgrade system, which is profile-based instead of character-based, and the cutscene viewer that lays the whole game out chronologically. See, this stream here shows (along with the entirety of Jake's campaign) that the player is completely fucking lost, if they started with Jake, because the context of *LARGE* sections of Jake's campaign require knowing details from Leon's campaign, Chris' campaign and Ada's campaign- without that context, his entire "plot" is just him and Sherry ping-ponging from plot-beats to plot-beats, for seemingly no reason. Compare that to Chris' clear goals of "Get 'Ada'/Carla" or Leon's "Get Simmons", and eventually Ada's "Get Carla and Simmons, Jake's campaign lacks a tacit objective. All of this points to either the writers not knowing that context matters (and they probably don't- video games in Japan don't require script-writers to have any amount of knowledge in filmmaking or authorial works of literature- it's just "Hey, you write this" and that's how it works), OR, that the game was supposed to be told linearly like a film of this time is, and was split up for some insane reason. If this game was played linearly, you'd still be doing everything you do in this game chapter-to-chapter, it would just be easier to follow and more importantly, the characters wouldn't feel as stupid and inept as they seem. This game is a fascinating time-capsule of gaming in the PS360 generation, of the idea that "bigger is better" being important. It's why once a lot of leadership for Resident Evil switched hands around the time of Rev2 and RE7, those new hands knew that less is better for a horror story.

I played almost every RE game (including this one, unfortunately) I just naturally assumed that Wesker was always an asexual. He just seem to not be interested on relationships, sex and all that. The only time he would've had a relationship would've been back in Raccoon city. In order to fit in. I hate the sound design of RE6 so much. All the sound effects are one of the things annoying me the most, everything, from the gun firing, to the shots hitting, to enemies getting PUNCHED, it all sounds way too shrill and overdone, and I can't stand hearing it. Also, of curiosity, I really do wonder how much better this game might have been with a Rev1 style chapter list, just swapping between characters in a linear story rather than seeing the same plot beats over and over again. Because... Jake's campaign is pointless as is, playing the others first. By the time you've played Chris and Leon's campaigns, you've seen all the big moments and plot reveals of this campaign. They're ALL told to him by the other characters in the crossover moments, holy shit.
