The scorch can be used to disengage from melee. use a hot streak to instant flame strike for a 50% slow of 8 sec, scroch while running away and keep scorching (and running) untill they've spent their gap closers. scorch still procs hot streaks occasionally. continue flame striking after charges, heroic leaps and such.

Except casting a fire spell in order to escape from melee is really bad design when 80% of our spells are in the fire school. This is made even worse by them replacing ice barrier with a defensive in the fire school. I really hate how many spells are gone, now people dont have as smart about what school they kick apart from a few exceptions. Blast wave should be baseline IMO, its too weak as a talent and not having a single slow as fire really sucks.

Yeah all specs get their own shield now, Prismatic Barrier and Blazing Barrier are 700% of sp and Ice Barrier 1000%, but Prismatic and Blazing reduce damage taken from Magic and magic effects reduced by 25% (Arcane) and melee damage taken reduced and fire dmg to attackers (Fire) Frost still has a slow, but yeah making it to where if silence in your main school you can't shield is kind of bad.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding you, but blazing soul isn't necessarily when you get hit but rather when you do fire damage within 8 yards. Meaning yes, blazing barrier's melee fire damage proc would restore some of the shield's strong (prolonging it to more than just the baseline ~200k shield), but also any fire damage you would do as well to a target in your face.

mate, the scorch is a MUST CAST while you're running away from melees, u cast it (deals dmg and higher chance to crit) while running, the whole idea of it, is to cast and deal dmg WHILE running away ( if your instants are on Cooldowns ) other than that, its useless.

Swifty You're actually out of your mind if you think fire mages are going to be "overpowered". They weren't overpowered to begin with, a simple review of logs would prove that. They're group AOE is good but they're sole rotation is revolved around their burst and that's getting neutered. In a raiding point of view fire will no longer be viable as the patch is right now. And 330k aoe? Please... Peoole are pulling 330k single target like it's nothing, if you had raiding experience you'd understand the points I am making.

7:00 that's not true at all. You should be fireballing even when you have a Hot Streak proc, so you can chain crit into another Hot Streak. Even if you are running Controlled Burn you still don't delay any casts. All controlled burn does is give you more consistent Hot Streak procs to have less downtime of actually chain-casting Pyros.

you're forgetting the legendary headpiece for alextrasza's fury. which increases its dmg by 100% and increases its range, makes the talent way more valuable as the talent makes it 100% crit too.

Instead of addressing an issue of "standing in one place or not doing damage" (rune of power) which was the only option in PvE, they wreck the entire spec AND leave the real issue completely untouched? Scorch is favorable during Combust. 100% crit =super fast pyro/fb procs, helps to not blow out our flames or blasts

I like what blizzard is doing with mages now but I want more. It just bugged the hell outta of me when I would be specced as fire mage and be running around with a frost barrier on. I think all three specs should really have a fire arcane or frost spin on each spell. Like ring of frost if your speced fire should be a ring of fire.

Hey Cartoonz, as a mage myself and have been clearing mythic content as fire. In your opinion if they are going to remove ice floes from fire which is a major mobility help. Should they increase scorches damage and put it on the kindling passive so that it to does decrease combusts cooldown.

Hi Cartoonz! Could u release some vids for mage post all the hot fixes and nerfs. I am now trying to find which spec is viable, I kinda like to play fire, because I play Arcane in PvE, but I don't really enjoy Arcane PvP, also with all the recent nerfs - I am not sure its really viable, since its one-shot build. Fire PvP feels better, altough damage doesn't feel very good honestly. Also i have no idea about frost. Would rly love a vid :)

Everything that is on PTR is subject to change. Please make sure to mention that in your videos because a lot of people may consider this video as exactly what is going to happen and change their plans accordingly. Blizzard has stated many times and it has been proven many times in the past that PTR is ALWAYS subject to change especially when it's this early in development. To talk about numbers at this stage is worthless because the numbers change all the time. And one more thing that we aren't taking in mind is the tire sets that are coming with Nighthold and future raids since most of the changes effect PvE much more then they effect PvP. In general, good video, always like to see how the classes and specs are changing even if they aren't going to stay like that for long.

As far as wowhead shows Fire Blast is being nerfed to 1 charged so the Flame On just puts it back to the normal 2 we have now. Id actually say go read those notes and revise this video maybe

So leveling as a fire mage you only have 1 charge on the ptr until you hit a high level. That's why the patch notes are different then the ptr video you see. At max level as a fire mage you still have a base of 2 charges, which can go up to three with flame on.

I don't really know.I play mage,spriest and mmhunter and all of them got nerfed so. And it has nothing to do with lvl 100. All the AP and time invested for artifact knowledge will be a waste. You haven't invested this time so you'll be fine I think.

Thanks for the advice guys. I will give it some more thought. I realize it's a choose one spec and stick with it scenario because of the Artifact power thing. I've ridden the nerf bat frustration train years ago, so I'm sensitive to Blizzard's antics I guess. I like that they attempt to balance, but sometimes I wonder if there is maybe too much class bias with the designers.
