Septa or the City of Philadelphia should build a high speed elevated train in the center of the Blvd. from 9th. & Roosevelt Blvd. up to City Line Avenue and Roosevelt Blvd. it would be a very smart and good idea and would help with all the traffic and run it 24/7.

@@MrTanker2012 When the Broad Street subway was built a junction was built in north of Erie Av. for a possible Roosevelt Blvd. line . An elevated line would be more expedient than having to build a subway.

I guess there will be no enough budget for that these years. But it would be a great scene that elevated trains pass through the skyline of Philly.

20:00 The long-since disused Franklin Square station, closed since the late summer of 1979 (September 9, 1979, to be exact, which would be nearly four decades) for, as stated in Wikipedia, the fourth time due to low ridership. However, Franklin Square is about to have a rebirth for the fifth time, as the DRPA began overhauling and rebuilding the station some three years ago. The grand re-opening will take place later this year, around the fall.

12/28/2019............... Here's one for ya. One day back in the summer of 2017 I was riding this line the entire length numerous times in a row just to waste time in the middle of the day. I got on in Walter Rand in Camden and went to Lindenwold first then immediately went into Philly on the next train back that way. I went to Lindenwold first so that I could stay outdoors as long as I could considering the entire section in Philly is underground. So I went back and forth a few times from one end to the other, back the the other end, and so on, and so forth. After 2 or 3 complete circles I got off in Philly and did some things there for a few hours. Anyway.............. After I got back on in the late afternoon I decided to run all the way out to Lindenwold station just to see the entire length of the line again, and while the train was between Haddonfield and Woodcrest I noticed a number of junior high age & senior high age kids going swimming in the back yard INGROUND swimming pool in one specific yard. There were 3 girls and 4 boys or something like that. At least 7 or 8 people going swimming and playing in the yard. The most interesting thing about them was that they were all COMPLETELY NAKED. Not one of them was wearing anything. Now for those of you who have been on this line you know that certain parts of it are elevated high enough above the surrounding neighborhoods in certain sections that you can see what is going on in the nearby yards and businesses that cannot be seen from anywhere OTHER THAN from the tracks. So I (and anyone else that might have been looking this way at the time that the train was passing by this one yard) could have seen these teenagers wearing absolutely nothing while they were in that back yard. Anyway I wanted to make sure that what I had just seen wasn't just a 2 minute "fluke" or "prank" while the train that I was on was passing by this yard so I got off the train at Woodcrest and waited for a westbound to take me back to Haddonfield. To make a long story short, I traveled between Haddonfield and Woodcrest 4 times in less than 45 minutes to see if what I saw the first time could be witnessed again. All in all I saw these kids 4 times in less than 45 minutes while they were hanging out in the back yard, and playing lawn games, and going swimming all while they were COMPLETELY NUDE. I thought it was great. I've been back on that line the entire length a few times since then but rarely if ever see anybody at all even while they would be raking up leaves or mowing their back yard.

This high-speed ride was exciting. I like the way the train ran express, skipping three stations, and the way the train crossed the bridge, only reducing speed toward the portal and into the tunnel. I wish I was aboard that time.

Travels between Center City Philadelphia and Lindenwold, NJ. The NJ side south of Broadway station is the original right of way of the PRSL to AC. PATCO purchased the line from Penn Central who wanted to abandon the line. The line from Center City Philadelphia to Broadway Station was part of the River Line.

"High speed line" in this context is a vestigial term for rapid transit and rail lines similar to rapid transit. Boston's Mattapan trolley is often called a high speed line. That designation merely differentiated it from other trolleys which traveled on streets or in medians. With that said, PATCO's normal maximum speed is 65 mph. Only a few North American rapid transit lines, like BART, exceed that.

It's way faster to use patco than to drive from south new Jersey to center city Philly so for all intents and purposes it is high speed haha. I don't know why more people don't use patco honestly

Most commuter trains cant drive themselves, PATCO trains can. The driver just opens and closes the door. the train does the rest. (most of the time).
