I usually start off with socket crafting, then link crafting. And at times, when I have enough armor scraps/blacksmith whetstones to burn, I up the quality a bit for every jeweller/fusing use to get that higher chance to get max links/sockets. Note that the quality gets spent everytime you use a jewellers/fusing. Only then do I apply the final 20% quality and then color craft once I'm satisfied with the socket and link setup-since chroming doesn't spend the quality percentage.

Note that higher quality = higher chance to get more sockets & more links, which is another reason to use a base white item and then make it better, instead of trying to craft sockets on a rare (because you can boost quality of white items much more efficiently than rares).

I don't think he mentioned in this video, but having a higher QUALITY item gives you a better chance at getting more sockets/links, so if you really want that item with 4 links quickly, just get it to 20% using the haku craft to get your armor/weapons to >30% gives you a higher chance at 6l too (though it's still a miserably low chance)

Awesome informative stuff Ziggy. I had some good luck when trying to link my Cloak of defiance. Took me 2 jewelers to 6 socket it and about 10 fusings to 5 link it. Sold it directly for 4 ex on domination. Finally made me some currency to buy some other gear for your scion build. Cant wait for the new leagues to start and have a fresh start and fresh economy!

TL;DR - Stat requirements influence which colour of sockets are more likely. Higher requirements give higher chances of that colour, suck that items with very high Strength requirements has a very low chance per socket to give you a blue or green socket. Also: Socket forging orbs are 1/4 the value of Link forging orbs. Link forging orbs should be able to fully link a 4-socket item in roughly 5 uses, give or take. Did I miss anything?

Great video Ziggy. I use chromes jewellers & fusing a lot, but i still learned a few things. I never realised the higher that stats the harder it is to get off colours. 4 linking items is the only good crafting RNG I seem to get :-)

Jewelers Orbs and Orbs of fusing aren't really super expensive if you have a lot of Alteration orbs. I just pick up every blue item I find and sell them. I sell my Transmutation orbs for ID Scrolls. Its kinda annoying to have to run to town so much but if you want lots of Jeweler and fusing its the way to go

yeai think they have to change that concept with the stats a little bit. when i played a CoC EK ranger i planned to use volls protector. power charges for each crit would just be insane but after around 1000 cromatics i realized it's like impossible to get 4 green sockets on volls..

Using the assassin master for getting cheaper fusings, costs 64 jewelers for a stack of 20 fuse, which respaws after doing a daily. Requires max lvl on the master though, so it's endgame profit.

Do you usually increase the quality of items before trying to link them? I personally tend to only do that for white items, if I intend to craft them with Orb of Alchemy, Chaos Orbs (etc) since white items take less Scraps/Wheatstones to get them to 20% quality. But I do not think that it is worth doing that for Rare items since 20 Scraps/Wheatstones is quite a lot for just a single shot of a potential 5-Link/6-Link.

My understanding is that on items above white rarity, the whetstones are to buff an already high quality level up a bit. From 17% to 20%, for example. The game focuses on crafting, and explicitly makes crafting from white rarity easier than on higher rarities. It makes sense to me so far.

I am following a build I’m level 36 and the required gear I need I haven’t found yet, so now I am just equipping any gear I find just to get by. My question is should I worry about changing sockets so early on? Because without the correct number or color I can’t use the suggested gems too which now I am half doing the build which is a problem. Also if I find a rare item at my current level do I replace it? Or keep it? If I find a generic item that’s higher level than that piece.

Does the ES on the sin trek unique boots affect how likely it is to get blue sockets because the base item is pure EV and I can't seem to get 2 red 2 green but I easily get 2 blue

Nah Sin Trek has pretty high DEX requirements so I think you've just been having bad luck! Getting 2 blue or 2 red is a little tricky on them but not too bad (less than 100 chromes average for sure). But RNG is going to RNG!

In my personal opinion, the only kind of linked item you should buy rather than craft is 6L. If you want/need a 5L, I personally think you are better off trying to make it yourself on a 6S item, because it has the added fun of potentially getting a 6L instead of the 5L you are aiming for. In my experience, making 5L items isn't very much more expensive than buying them (worst case for me has been 2x the cost of buying,) so I personally think the potential extra cost is worth the potential 6L epic win. Unfortunately, I've yet to get lucky enough to end up with a 6L when aiming for 5L, but at least I've never blown an absurd amount of currency getting the 5L.

That's true, yes. If i remember correctly, the chance to get a full link increases by 1% per 1% quality.

For a 5 or 6 link go for 6 sockets first (it makes it easier to 5 link), items must be over ilvl 50. Then go for the 6 link but keep the item if you roll the 5 link. Usually it's better to sell the 5 link and buy another unlinked one to try for the 6 link then it is to scrap a 5 link. If you're lucky you can even make a profit on some items. The exception is one of a kind amazing rares. Lemme know if you have other questions about them!

Peter Ghobrial 150 fusings and a bunch of jewellers likley. It's not worth trying to 5link an item that is only level 44 really. 4 Links will hold you over into maps.

My question is how do you get all of the orbs & other currency in such quantities in order to use them in crafting? I've got a level 45 Maurader & level 33 Witch, and I might have 25-30 chromatic orbs, orbs of augmentation, etc. I have only 3 orbs of fusing, 5 jewelers orbs, 1 chaos orb & 1 regal orb. Where do you even find these in such quantities? All of these video show characters with literally dozens if not hundreds of orbs to go through in trying to craft the best equipment. That's great, IF YOU HAVE THOSE RESOURCES. What about those players who don't? So how do you find so many orbs & currency items?

Bruh, I literally have like 20x your orbs, I'm 43 marauder, and I got them by going through the "Currency" nodes in Delve, with as high as loot chance I can get it, without being a noddle, and I'm like 20 Chaos Orbs, 30 jewellers and 30 fusing. This considering I was a massive noob and used a chaos on a random item, didn't know you could get some extreme juicy items for lvling with 1 chaos back then,

840 jews, 10 stacks of whetstones on two different items and no 6 socket. RIP 5 exalts... then I got an exalt drop and then it was my birthday and I got another exalt drop and not even half a second later there was a rollback and I lost it again hahaha.. I'll never forget how happy I actually was... my record for 4 socketing or 4 linking, sadly I forgot which it was, is 28 orbs. rng hates me. anyway, if you find an exalt+ item, even if you're playing summoner, press your logout button... I still can't believe it, that me myself, happened to find an exalt when there was a rollback. The chance of that happening is like finding a kaom's itself... oh man, I'll never forgive rng for that.

ZiggyD Gaming well yeah, but I'd still rather have the exalt :P willy used like 1.6k jews but he used a lotto, so he had an insurance, I didn't :P and I don't know when I'll try to attempt to 6 socket something again, I lost my confidence, completely... I mean, it was a 410 dps 2h axe better than kaoms, very good weapon to get back into ST. used 480 jews on that, then gave up. Always wanted to find a searing touch again, since I ripped one. Found one and oh well, another 360 jews loss haha made me laugh so hard. I just couldn't believe it that you could transfer all alts into jews, empty your stash and still not get it, twice. If you pick up every currency item and are a hard working collector at heart, then it just hurts.

standard is so redic... i died on nem so ive been playing with a few things on standard. I wanted to buy regrets 1 to 1c. I was immedialty told by someone that 2c = 1 regret. My response was that 1 regret is 2 scours from vendor. And theres no way 2c = 2 scours. Anyway i think they need to wipe the standard league. everything is so fucked prices wise. i feel bad for someone just starting there who most likely has to pay 1 ex + for most mediocre items.
