I have been so impressed with the POE community. I played a bit back in 2016 or 2017. Having been a Diablo guy from it's inception, I really enjoyed the first couple acts, but just got so busy I couldn't really couldn't immerse myself like I wanted to. Came back a few months ago and OMG... the complexity!!! Ziz was the first content creator I found and really enjoy his vids, but everyone I've watched has been great. Pohx is freakin awesome, man! I really enjoy his RF Inq videos... too bad it won't be the same this league. It just feels like so many of the content creators want to help you succeed and that is what makes this community so great!

Thank you for defining the term "Dedicated Casual"; I've been playing since closed beta, but I rarely get characters past 90 and I've only beaten shaper and Elder once, no ubers, no 4-ways, no Catarina, no Maven, one cortex, one Oshabi, a couple Atziris, and just a handful of Siruses. I usually go solo self buy, as in I rarely ever sell items but will buy stuff with currency I find. And I have very little interest in trying to do more than play a couple hundred hours in the first few weeks of every league, but I'll keep showing up to see what each new league has to bring to the game.

@Zaburino Жыл бұрын
@CajunGator hahaha I put my passion into things I create myself, my family and friends, and my work. At no point did I ever say I wanted the game easier, or that I feel like the stuff I haven't done isn't worth the time to get better. I no-lifed plenty of games before and was in a top tier raiding guild in Dark Age of Camelot years before WoW even came out. I've lived that life before, I don't need to live it again. I was mostly just saying I appreciate that even with the difficulty and complexity, there's still a comfortable space for me in PoE after all these years, where I can take a couple builds up to 90 and fill out my atlas and call it a day until the next league drops.
@Venvaneless Жыл бұрын
@CajunGatoror maybe stop being so elitist about it. It's just a game, let people enjoy it the way they want. PoE is not an easy game to learn, let alone master, not everyone has the time to be a total boss destroyer min-maxer, people have family, other hobbies, health issues - different reasons for their different ways of playing. That doesn't make them any less of a dedicated gamer. You don’t have to rub him in the nose how casual he is or "put him in a place" like a dog. Seriously, some of you treat PoE like a personality trait or badge that no one cares about outside of the game. He most likely pays for the game in stashes, if only that - he’s allowed to enjoy the game and also give their input to see it improve. In some ways I'd also like the game to change, not because I want "things handed to me", but because I love the game and wish more ppl could enjoy it, especially people with disability that see hurdles you can't see. You also talk under a video of a streamer that is a very dedicated advocate for casual players and voices the same complains some of them have. This elitism in gaming always gets me. You're no better than everyone else just because you beat Maven.
@powrsh1 Жыл бұрын
@CajunGator Holy hell, what a crude, toxic, elitist and controlling comment, by no means do they have to "understand their place" or "stop making excuses" literally let them play how they want, not everyone has the time/will to "invest" so much time and effort, I have 4200 hours, never once have I fought Shaper, Elder, Catarina, etc, and that is more than okay, there is nothing telling me I have to fight them or get above level 90, you are not superior to anyone, you just think you are since you enjoy the game in a different way. But agreeably, brainless complainers who won't even try to look into their own faults or seek help before ranting on the internet, they are pretty stupid.

My first try of poe was in patch 3.2 (Bestiary), which is about 5 years ago due to a friend showing me some gameplay. I needed 2 attempts to get into poe (Skill tree ofc overwhelmin at first glance). BUT when you get into this freaking game you may get addicted. The best of it is, if you are about 3k hours into this game (yeah i know, still a noob), there is still stuff you may discover because of the fact that there are thousands of ways how you could beat endgame mechanics and bosses. Love this game and the community

@Zizaran - that same thing happened to me when I was 19. I was sitting on a log at the time with some friends around. My vision when to white diamonds and then black... My friends tried to feed me water and it just poured out of my mouth and I was shaking violently... I don't remember any of that though. There were random people there too and they were throwing things at me calling me a freak as I was seizing. When I eventually came to and we walked away, those guys threw rocks at me across the field. I don't understand the mindset to attack someone who is having a seizure.

I am playing with a dear friend of mine I stared Warframe with 600 days ago. Both over 2500 hours, and now she played PoE for the first time 2 weeks ago. It's not easy if you hate maths, but testing out stuff and following a guide is fine! She started SRS Guardian and had a really good time. We stopped at every lore fragment and voiced line and listened to all the dialogue together. It's fun. I made a build for her, it's basically Ziggy's arc of surging build but with ice nova. Let's see how that works out!

The stupidest thing about momentum is that it's the support gem they give ranger at the start of the game. And while maybe the basic concept is simple enough (if bad), the text is complicated AF. You watch some new player start with ranger and they're more tripped up by the ****ing momentum gem than the skill tree. "Gain 1 Momentum when you Use a Supported Skill Gain 1 Momentum every (0.70-0.51) seconds while Channelling a Supported Skill Lose all Momentum if you Move Supported Skills have (15-20)% increased Attack Speed per Momentum When you reach (3-5) Momentum, lose all Momentum and gain Swiftness for 1.5 seconds Swiftness grants 15% increased Movement Speed per Momentum lost" WTF is this?!

Good to hear Zizz saying to enjoy the game and learn, don't fuss over min-maxing your characters. Too many people out there just want to charge into min-maxing on every game, and maybe that's what they ultimately enjoy, but it just feels like missing a huge chunk of the journey.
@steel5897 Жыл бұрын
It's a paradox because PoE in many ways feels like it's designed FOR that audience who always googles and finds out, through other people, the best way to do something and plays the most optimal way at all times, but the game's wealth of complexities are best enjoyed by learning on your own and growing and doing better with each character. But most people will not even attempt to play the game like that, and the people who do want to play like that, can feel some kind of social pressure by seeing everyone else acting like you're playing the game wrong if you're not measuring your playtime by div/hour by the third day of the league. Whatever, really, but it makes me think sometimes.

Ziz your seizure reminds me of something that happened with me. I went to evo to compete (for fun) in mortal kombat... I ended up losing my first match, got really nervous, and then had a seizure. I woke up to random people worried about me, and my parents were terrified. Some random lady gave me water too. Then I got up and flawless victory'd my next match lol. Yeah seizures are a bit more common for me but not that much so. I had one for 2 years back to back (around the same time each year), and now I haven't had one for I would say 1.5 yrs. Darth the main reason why I decided to actually stick with POE I never really made it past lvl20 because I got bord and felt like I was messing up my build's every time. I tried like 5 or 6 time's to get into the game just couldn't do it then after watching his video I said ok lets acutely try this time so I followed Pohx's Righteous Fire build I really didn't look to in-depth of what the build was saying I just followed the simple info of what skills I was going to use and what path to take for the skill tree because I really didn't want to spoil to much so I only followed the path and skills and learned what I was doing along the way I'm now in the 40s and so far I'm really liking it and I'm actually understanding what I'm doing and building.
