Thank you for this interview! It gives me hope! I am at 15 months & feeling discouraged. I too have a very high metabolism & am thinking i might need to increase my dose. I am NOT giving up!

I love this interview. So much great information and inspiration! I was a TSM turtle also. It took me about 13 months to realize I was at extinction. I've been completely alcohol free for a year now. The whole experience seemed like a rollar coaster ride of ups and downs. This method really does work but be patient and keep going no matter what. One day something will change for you.

I really identified with the part where he talks about shows. I decided to start treatment after going to my favorite band's concert for two days and realizing how alcohol was hijacking my attention. I really like going to shows, I've been going to many since I was a teenager, and at some point I wondered if there would be drinks there, if I would have money to buy it. I also missed music that I really enjoyed going out for a drink and then going to the bathroom. I started TSM in April this year, I still have a hard time having AF days, but now I can be in spaces that make me want to drink and not drink. I make a mental agreement with myself to take Nal after the show and drink at home. In October I had the experience of seeing The Weeknd perform while I was sober and it was incredible. I was able to ignore the beer sellers and felt the same things I felt before I became addicted to alcohol. Next week I'm going to the Paul McCartney concert in my city and I'm not worried at all about the drinks there. I will continue to follow my plan and move forward little by little. I can't wait for extinction!

I needed to be reminded that this process takes time. I want to be free from this bondage. Thank you so much sharing your experience with us ❤

So glad this was an impactful reminder for you! That’s why we have a weekly group call in our program for TSM turtles. Some folks just need more time for the treatment to work. Hang in there! What an incredible share. So raw and honest. Speaks to us all. An articulate and inspiring account. He is as smart as his beloved wife. Thank you both. Thank you Katie for bringing this to so many. Did you ever think it would be your purpose?

Hahah not at all. Funny how life goes. But I love every single minute of it! And I agree this was a really good interview. I have some other good ones coming as well. ❤️

34:20 is so accurate for me. I want that IMMEDIATE effect without all the follow-up effects…. and it just doesn’t happen. This is where I have to pause and play the tape forward to remember what’s REALLY in the innocent glass (or 2 or three😬) that seems so appealing at the time. ❤ 🐢 ❤

Thank you John and Katie. I started in May this year and have only had on AF day and feel like I’m stagnating. This gives me a lot of hope! Interestingly I am the opposite of John and I can feel naltrexone in my system the next morning. As evidenced in my little desire in sugar and coffee.

I love that you said you were a "tsm turtle" 😂 It inspires others to just stay on track and be patient but really to trust the process. Thanks John!

Yes! We actually coined this term inside of our program because we have a TSM turtle support group and weekly call that supports people who have been on the method for six months or more. For some folks, it just needs more time to work! www.thrivealcoholrecovery.com/
