@@SecondHandCDCollector Not bad hey. CDs on offer trounced the vinyl offerings. (This is in a Lifeline charity shop). The vinyl is all classical, Kamal, Harry Secombe and obscure forgotten random singers. The CD's have a lot of classical too to be fair...but there's a lot of other stuff.

How do you evaluate the playability of discs? How can you tell if scratches will affect playback by looking?
@SecondHandCDCollectorАй бұрын
I'm no expert, but usually visually you can tell. I only have a handful that have playability issues and they are all really visibly scratched all over the surface. If there are a few light scratches it (usually) has no problems playing. If i was paying $10+ i would expect the disc to be in very good - mint condition. But anything less than $10 (which most of my collection is) I'll usually take a gamble and buy it even if pretty scratched up. Almost never have playability issues.

@@SecondHandCDCollector Okay. Yeah, if I’m paying $10 or up, the discs have to be near perfect or mint. I had to send a CD back on eBay as a seller was being dishonest about the condition. I wasn’t keeping a disc that wasn’t as described for $11.27.

@@Katiestechandmore Yes, resellers absolutely should be upfront and honest about condition. Also buying on ebay (or discogs etc) i think there's more expectation that the CD will be in very good condition, as opposed to charity, second hand shops where its more "what you see is what you get".
