Making a Glowing Deep Space Themed Ring from Spirograph Damascus Steel

In today's video Patrick Adair designs a glowstone ring made of an incredible material called Spirograph Damascus Steel. Damascus steel is when you forge multiple types of steel together in order to create interesting patterns. It's a fairly basic concept, but in order to create beautiful patterns and a rod that actually holds together, it requires an insane amount of patience and experience.

hey patrick i just though of an idea. I think this would be an amazing looking ring. So start out with a damascus ring (like the one in the video) acid etch it of course but then where the acid etched is use glow power and resin. not in the middle of it but inside the acid etched part. so it would be a damascus ring glow powder etched

Alec steel has worked with a lot of Pattern Damascus and whenever he works with it, he stands up to (typically) 1000 grit before etching. It gives the pattern some really sharp lines and it takes away the fog it can get from lower grits.
