It’s certainly free of folk due to the effort it takes to get there. You’ve given me the itch to get up that way very soon. Thank you Pat. Hi Sarah yes a very wild remote place but somewhere you can walk all day and not see a soul, mind you it is hard going with only a few paths which have a habit of just disappearing, so its then walking through 2 foot high heather untill you find a path again, some form of satalite navigation is useful so you can pin piont where you are, WHEN you get lost. I,am slowly finding my way round with weekly walks up different rivers and cloughs, its exciting because its somewhere new and with summer kit you can walk further. Would like to camp up there in winter but may struggle carrying winter kit will have to see, at least i know we have Ringinglow and Houndkirk to camp at all year round. As for the midges I never want to see another one, I know you had a run in with them on your last camp, sort of puts you off summer camping, I certainly don't want to spend a nights camp with a net bag over my head, not alot of fun, anyway see you on the next one......Pat
@SoloSarahBX5 ай бұрын
@@patrickdickinson6492 it’s like a sweet shop having the pick and mix we have up on the eastern side like you say, all year round camps with easy access definitely have thee uses. As for the Derwent Valley, I camped at crow stones last year when I first started out and way before I started making videos. What an adventure it was tramping through all that heather getting lost with all weather seasons in one day. Certainly kept me on my toes and my satellite maps within easy reach. I remember following a sheep track from bull stones to crow stones as it was lined with sheep wool to pick it out. Follow the Dewent sheep 🐑 they know best 😅. One place I have yet to master is Bleaklow. I’m working my way up to that featureless land! More confidence is needed with my navigation skills, but I’ll get there. See you on the next one and enjoy all of your outings ✨

By heck Patrick, these videos of yours in the Dark Peak don't half fetch a lump to my throat. This area, together with the Alport, make up the crown jewel of the whole district in my opinion. Hi Patrick. Summer camping is good when it's windy and no midges but when wind stops it's like those midges use chainsaws to get your blood. When midges are gone it makes camping better and fun. Great views and looks like it be good for winter camp. The places you visit and camp is what wild camping is all about the freedom and peace and quiet. I've tried some of their food summit to eat and never tried pudding but I think they do some good meals. I've tried other different company meals and they just so bland with no taste. Excellant wild camping video again and take care!

Hi Pat, went up Friday walked up from Fairholmes, midges were bad so struck off on a path ( I say path, marked on map but waist deep heather )to Round hill, then Grinah Stones where there will still midges, so went on to Bleaklow stones where a small breeze kept em way! Came back via the shooting cabins in lower clough the middle of the valley under car stones is stunning, Rowens, Birch, stunted Oaks and all that heather, very similar to the mid wales river valleys, absolutely beautiful! So due to the midges I missed shepherds stones and the Howden watershed, so I’ll just have to go back and do it in September! Thanks for the inspiration!

I can feel them in my hair as I type this, It didn't look much fun at all. Still at least you could camp undisturbed. Last week we went high up (4600') to a zone called el purche (the perch) to watch the Perseids shooting stars. The picture quality and sound quality are excellent as always & I don’t need subtitles! Thank you for all the time & effort you put into producing them. You must have to walk each bit three times! I’m sure yours are the best, but can you recommend any other wildcamper’s videos, like for example Solo Sarah? I found you through your Ladybower Plughole video.

Hey Patrick, You’ve inspired me to try Aberlour A'Bunadh. I love wild camping, my ancestral home the UK, and whiskey. So here in Australia, on special, it’s $130 a bottle, around 65 quid. Ah well, maybe I’ll treat myself. Keep it up, you live in a wonderful part of the world. I love countryside.

A great whisky to try and why shouldn’t you treat yourself once in a while………all the best Pat

Great video mate, beautiful scenery 👍 I always use the summit to eat meals, I give them 10 minutes to rehydrate and a good stir before tucking in 😁 Nice footage of the wokka wokka ( army helicopter ) 🤙🏻 I hope your back is ok, stay safe. Pete👊🏻🤙🏻

Nice one Patrick, a lovely hike and a great spot for a wild camp, shame about insect swarm on the way down. I use Avon Skin so soft spray its a surprisingly good insect repellent, and is used by people in the military too. The bugs hate citronella as well, Thank you Sir, see you on the next adventure. :)

Yes the whole area up there has so many amazing places to pitch, many I still have to try, might use skin so soft, but my thoughts at moment is to steer well clear of the little devils………thanks Pat

Absolutely Fantastic Pat! A real joy to watch as usual Thank you 😊. We are heading up tomorrow for a few days and can't wait to get out on those moors. That heather looks beautiful, take care out there and we'll see you on the next one. 🙂

I,am sure you will have a great time, the heather is in full bloom at the moment and looks beautiful with rich purple colours, for some reason, warm damp weather the midges have gone a bit wild, they are enogh to put you off summer camping forever so be prepared, if that is possible. Have agreat trip......thanks Pat

Thanks Pat! We've just got back and we had a great time 😊. Your right the heather did look beautiful and we didn't have any midges (we didn't camp though). We have sent you a message on F/B when you get a chance to look. 😊
