Bivvying is the simpest for of wild camping, it can be very basic making use of your natural suroundings and features to provide protection, but it allows you to camp in locations not usually accessible to tents.
Also some unexpected footage of the Edale and Buxton Mountain Rescue teams in action only 200m away.
Thanks for watching

What a pleasure to behold Patrick, your mountain videos must be without a shadow of doubt rank as the best on youtube, they show it the way it is, having spent many times up on Kinder in my younger years walking but never camping I do appreciate how quickly the weather can change, I just love to watch your videos, so entertaining , informative, interesting and relaxing to watch especially when having a few small Jack Daniels curled up in front of the fire, thanks again Patrick for a journey into the hills and mountains, thanks for sharing, Mike

Thank you Michael, lovely words there, and glad it brings back memories from when you were up there in your younger days. As you can see it's not changed much, a little less peat, but just as wet and wild as it was in your day...... thanks Pat 👍

@@patrickdickinson6492 Never once had I thought of having a pint after the first leg of a walk, much less shortening that leg to 5 minutes. I'll not only take your lead on this one, Patrick, I'll also likely have a second pint just so that I'm totally relaxed before heading out on my second leg. And if, by chance or by design, there's another pub down the path along the way, I'll surely allow myself to be drawn in for another. For stopping in for a pint is to remain on the way. Cheers.

Great to see the return of the amber nectar / ale. It's not the alcohol but that it is a symbol of relaxing, taking a moment, a breather. 'What is this life if, full of care, We have no time to stand and stare'. It's the whole process from entering the drinking establishment, landing the full pint on the table, the first sip delicately savoured to the inevitable 'I might just get another'. The scenery again has been well captured expertly despite the odds. You are getting the balance between the component parts of each episode. Everything seems well planned and executed in a timely fashion. Well done and keep it up!

Hi there Pat. Fantastic tip about the calming procedure before a wild camp, I must try it one of the times. I think it must be practiced a number of times quite regularly. What stopped you from rolling of that ledge. The joys of camping, mixed weather. Take care Pat. And I look forward to joining you on your next backpacking adventure. Cheers. Pete.

Hi Pete certain calms you down and gets you fully into the wildcamping mood, usually lots of food and a few more drinks, the area under the rock was a bit lower probably due to 1000's of sheep sheltering there over the years so felt very secure......thanks Pat

You are a master wild camper Patrick. You introduced me to proper camp cooking, and with that came a realisation that I could carry the ethos of quality and comfort throughout my wildcamping experience. Kinder remains my go-to place. It always provides some sort of challenge - even on the kindest days, and thats what I like about it. For those of you who haven’t seen them, checkout Patricks videos of his antics underneath Sheffield in the super tunnels. Amazing stuff - although its one place I dont think I’ll be following the master 😊

Another great slice of escapism , again, Pat. How did you do the 'magic' of a ginger puddin' turning into a treacle one upon cooking? Nice trick if you can pull it off !! I miss batting up and down the valley , my old stomping ground , well , one of 'em , on the Iron Road. Don't know if it's Ringing Roger , or just to the left of it, but from Cowburn to just past Edale, there's a rock formation , right on the ridgeline when viewed from below, that the old sweats used to try and convince us young pups was a Stanier 8F , dumped right up there. Never caught me with THAT one, but got me with many others . It really is rather uncannily like an 8F in profile , with a pretty accurate outline of chimney, topfeed, dome and other fittings. Oh, and a tender , too. Hope you're all well at your end , all the best, Nigel and Helen.

Great entertainment, which puts the hustle and bustle of modern life into perspective. Excellent presentation and photography as usual, like we are actually there. Minor point was I couldn't read the red letters on the green background, but white was fine. Your videos are to me what Wainwright's Gold is to you! 😃

What an amazing spot Pat. I wonder who has sheltered there over the millennia? I wonder if they drank and ate there, perhaps they cooked their meat like you did? Perhaps they ate it raw? Were they hunter gatherers? Were they outlaws? We’ll never know.

Hi Pat, lovely to see a notification pop up of another video! Thoroughly enjoyed it too. There is very little worse on a camp than waking up and opening the zip to mist/damp/wind 🙄 I'm glad that you had a lovely evening of weather though. A great spot for you to return to in future camps! Hopefully with a better morning. PS; 'Bread cakes'. We call them 'baps' or just 'rolls' here in south Wales 🍞 Interesting to see regional variations in names for things! Another great effort (in terms of the camp and the filming too!). Best wishes, Alistair.

Hi Pat, It’s funny you say that about anything tasting good with the type of hunger you get on the trail and I’ve got to say that is one of the highlights of a camp for me! We were out there at the weekend and I was starving and did a ribeye with flatbreads as a starter. We ate the juice in the pan with remaining flat breads !!!! It was like manna from heaven!!! food of the gods lol. Really enjoyed this vid Pat, ATB - Chris

Another lovely, and very much appreciated outdoor video. Given the general weather conditions, your drone footage was just right. What stood out for me was how you gave us - the viewers, a few of the adversities of camping - in this case it was ‘bivying’ during fall, and how one might contend with typical weather for that time of year. I loved camping in Derbyshire. It was usually one of my long awaited pursuits that took place five, six, sometimes seven times annually - each camping session lasting for the duration of at least two days. Since I never mustered self confidence - or ‘stomach’ if you will to pursue wild camping, I always drove to designated camp sites, payed my fees, parked up, and pitched up! Returning from a camping session - no matter what the weather conditions had been, always gave me a feeling of how it might have felt to have been part of a combatting, and conquering army, or slaying a six-headed Satanic beast, as well as an always euphoric feeling of satisfaction I’d achieved it all ‘on the cheap’ LOL! Yes my friend, never once did I drive away from a camp site feeling I’d been ‘short-changed’. A week ago, when I last visited Sheffield, I called into Black’s on The Moor, and Decathlon (diagonally from St Mary’s church) to look at one, and two person tents, as well as basic camping requirement items. Though I considered a few items were little on the pricey side, what I was mainly interested in was not as expensive as I’d thought. Yes, camping - now that I’m retired, is one of those pursuits I’m thinking about re-kindling. Although I’m now retired, I feel quite fit. In truth and reality, I’m quite sure I’m not ready for retirement just yet LOL! I’ve tendered separate offers on two house in Sheffield - each one rejected - not the end of the world - and referring to the world, and taking into account a few of the headline affairs, as well as home economic and financial conditions, house prices might well fall in my favour. Hope to catch up with you some time again - preferably not at Blacstock Road recycling centre LOL. Cheers buddy, Phil.

Hi Phil, good to here your returning to Sheffield, could imagine buying a house is a stressful time, it always has been, especially when people are bidding against you, but hopefully you'll find somewhere soon. Would be great if you can get out wild camping again, can be a bit daunting getting all new gear together, but the benefits of spending time on your own in the wilds are immense. All the best for the future.....Pat
