One story I remember about the muscle car era in America was this: Someone wanted a 1969 Station wagon with a 427 -4 speed. The dealer said there was no option for that. He called the factory, and the factory replied, "YES, we can do that for him." That was when America was truly awesome!!!

Real nice video, As young guy in the 1970s. I knew the owner of a body shop then, that bought used cars and fix a few dents and then painted every single car that exact chevy cranberry color red and he'd put them for sale. The cars would sell the next day no matter the combination interior wise. He then found that color to attract attention to other cars.. on used vettes, too. Metalic blue was big too on some cars and that red on others. He had a rear lot that couldn't be seen from any road view and only parked 2 gems out front. Everything from imports, muscle, sports, and station wagons to vans. Busy, busy, busy car lot / body shop. I wonder if that would work in today's market.

In the mid 70's the girl next door was dating a guy with a 70 SS. Cranberry red, 454, tan interior, muncie. Looked like the brochure cover car. He beat the living snot out of that car. Burn outs and speeding around all over town. Decades later I spoke with him. He had nothing but regrets for what he did to that car. Of course he wished he still had it. Before the 70, he had a 69 SS396, beat that one to death also. Boy o boy were those the day!

Again, never was a gm fan, except for a '70 Chevelle. And I've only ever owned 2 gm vehicles, only 1 was ever tagged. In '71 near Gallatin MO this cars twin-minus console-was totaled by the insurance company. And it was severely destroyed. As a 15 year old I convinced my dad into letting me buy it from the insurance company for the engine and transmission. We soon moved back to my hometown and I dropped them into the '60 Impala, black, 2 door hardtop, bench seat that was mint throughout. That car was assumed to be a 396 by everyone and I never agreed nor disagreed with anyone. I smoked everything I pulled up against, even a '70 LS6 that traveled from KC to beat a '60 with a 396 that couldn't be beat. Was 1 of 3 cars I never should of sold, and didn't need to sell, but did. Fine car you've verified, hope it stays with someone that appreciates it more than an investment.

Hey Patrick , good to see you still finding these things. I spoke with you a few years ago about a 66 chevelle ss396 375hp. Also in Chicagoland. It was actually in Illinois Indiana state line. Like right on state line. I really wished I was able to introduce you to him. I moved to North Dakota. I still think sometimes though if I ever go back to visit , I will find him. His family owned a Chevy dealership and the dad ordered that car and it is preserved in mint condition. He also has the very last camaro z28 the rolled off the assembly line. Before they came back in what 09 or 2010. Still with the plastic on the seats. Never touched from off the delivery truck. Anyways if you’re still doing this I hope to one day get you to see this car.
