The explanation of 'WHY' things work is exactly what I needed. I've yet to see another channel describe 'why' so well. Especially for 3D items. Thank you for that! PS. I'd love to know more about what each slider does when making adjustments, and why it works.

Patrick, I have been watching so many videos in trying to get a handle on the 3D space. Yours is so good for multiple reasons. 1. You don't skip over little but important things 2. You speak clearly and the sound quality overall is great. 3. Even the quality of video is crisp so I can actually see what the nodes say. 4. You explain WHY!! I've got to hand it to you. you're really good at this. I'm sure you'd much rather be doing your work but I am so grateful for this video. I've been hacking my way through this. But now I can see a clearer path. Thank you!

Thank you so much! Having played around in the Fusion window a bit now, I was lacking the basics of how to navigate the view in 3-D space using the different mouse buttons, and also it was great to have the tip of clicking on a node and then another tool to have it appear complete with connector straight away. That saves a ton of time right there. So thank you for your explanations - just exactly the right speed for me to get a lot out of this. Also the thing you have chosen to do is complex enough but also simply enough that you can see what’s going on, unlike a lot of the tutorials I have seen where people go complicated way too quickly. Didn’t know about the focus shift thing either - that could be useful. Have to have a play now!

Hey Patrick, is there a way to use a camera in fusion to zoom in/out on layers below it in the edit timeline? For example, an adjustment layer could "zoom in" but everything just ends up looking pixelated, so I was hoping to use a camera function to keep things crisp while also implementing 3d movement (VS just X & Y movement in an adjustment layer using keyframes) -- thx!

If you're on the edit page most fusion effects should cache which will help playback. Inside fusion you can toggle off HQ and motion blur and turn on proxy mode by right clicking just under the viewer 👍🏻

did you watch this video? this is the method that I would recommend for the thing you're trying to do instead of what I used in the transition video. the distance between the keyframes on the camera will dictate speed

I had a question! I have a little pop animation saying to go follow. I’d like to have the clip be behind and blurred behind it while it does the animation, then animation disappear, then the video play right after that. How do I create, I guess like a mini freeze frame of the video while that plays then play right after that?

that would be a little tricky to all do in one fusion effect. most likely I would handle the pause of the footage on the edit page and apply a title over that
