Either way, the mini pretender armor version of the head is much cooler looking.

I prefer him with the green shades too, looks much nicer, so I always display my TR Deluxe with that noggin, and the other head can live in his chest!

My mom got me Repugnus in 87' (I think) never knew who it was until today at Toys R Us when I saw the new version. I used to think it's name was Sparkle not 😂 then I got Prime in 89?... The sparks still work to this day!

My TR Repugnus is one of my favorite transformers, even though i didn't know who he was. And the sparking gimmick on toys was so cool in the 80s, i would have loved getting the g1 version as well.

Repugnus was my favorite Monsterbot in terms of design. I just love the bug monster mode and the robot mode looks kinda cool despite the excess of yellow.

Great review Patriot Prime! Got off work early today, so I finally have time to catch up on some videos. I'd definitely like to get all of the G1 Monsterbots eventually. They're not really on my radar yet but I do dig the sparking gimmick, it's pretty cool.

Great review! I never realized how true to the original G1 figure this modern version was, until your comparison segment. I am glad we have the option to head swap them if we want to though. (Would have been cool to get a smaller Titanmaster figure for Grotusque & Twinferno, like we did with Repugnus, at least I think so...) I have another little Repugnus TM figure that I'm going to convert into a little Pretender Bugly, and a deluxe Repugnus for the same purpose. Hope it turns out, lol. Also, if you're interested at all, I did some very light trimming on Repugnus' bug mode arms to give him more arm articulation and movement at the elbows. Super simple and works great!

I've heard of folks doing the "Trim" but I never fooled with it due o the fact he stays in Bot mode.

The truth is a good figure even though it is 32 years since these figures went on sale and the gimmick in good conditions are difficult to achieve I hope to see the following figures and remember the commercials of this figures of the memory

Yeah, that would've been cool...! Equally cool though, is that they DID team up with the Dinobots in the UK comics, I seem to recall. I think it was a 3 or 4 part story, but I only had the beginning issue... Might have even been IDW before they went all SJW spazztastic... But I feel like it was UK, and maybe reprinted by IDW...?

@@alexlemonds2838 Yep, THAT was it! It's been awhile since I read that issue, but never got to read the whole story because my comics guy missed me on a couple of issues, and since IDW insists on 50 covers for every book, I just didn't bother trying to track the rest down.

The Monsterbots have appeared in IDW's Transformers comics sporadically (not the new Brave New Era series...not yet anyway). The IDW versions come across as hard-drinking, always ready for a fight types.

Repugnus is one weird looking critter but thisrose characters can be pretty fun. He did get one nice upgrade in that Amazon exclusive one though. I just noe found out they spark as thought only the Sparkabots/cons did that.

I think the lack of paint apps is what turned me off of this guy as a kid. I remember looking at him a couple of times and decided not to get him in favor of other figures. excellent review of an obscure character dude
