The guitar tech is Rene Martinez and he is tech for John Meyet. All Double Trouble has utmost respect & love for Stevie.
@harrietmiller39823 жыл бұрын
Yes Stevie's guitar tech Rene could put a race car pit crew to shame. Rene had lots of practice as there was always broken strings! Great reaction‼️🎶
@SueKay-rq1lr Жыл бұрын
Yes, the roadie deserves praise.
@yambo594 жыл бұрын
Not to mention even with a broken string he delivered a first class solo right before the switch
@quiltie17746 жыл бұрын
The roadie is really Stevie's guitar tech Rene Martinez. Stevie had to beg and beg with many phone calls to get Rene to take the job. Rene is a flamingo guitar player so Stevie had Rene as his opening act. There is a really good interview on you tube of Rene talking about Stevie. I am so happy that you are helping with the awareness of Stevie to the younger crowd.

First...one of my favorite SRV songs! Second...that guitar swap...like an Indy pit crew! Thirdly, the fact Stevie was playing with only 5 strings for a good bit and nobody could know! Wow! Another great SRV reaction!

Thank you again for an outstanding reaction I never get tired of listening to SRV used to listen to him back in high school in the 70’s him Neil Young Gordon Lightfoot Nazareth Foghat the list just goes on and on you do an outstanding job on your reactions

Love it. Stevie's like, "Hmm. Seems I've broken a string. Oh well. I have 5 more."
@lexisparents6 жыл бұрын
His rodie was Rene Martinez. Quite an accomplished guitar player himself! Renes' idea to deck out his "No. 1" with the gold accents. Also 1 of the only guys 2 work in Stevie's guitars.
@TexasMagnolia6 жыл бұрын
His strings are, I believe 12 gauge, very heavy. Because he had a problem with breaking strings, he even experimented with using piano wires. His guitar tech knew exactly what to do, most do. Stevie was known to play until his fingers would bleed, he would simply superglue his blisters and callouss and carry on. Back to the switch...with this video and Little Wing, with the weight of his guitar, he could carry on playing without the strap on his guitar like it weighed nothing. A Beast!
@FloridaManRacer6 жыл бұрын
You are correct. Stevie played 12 gauge strings. He did that for two reasons. 1.) because he liked the string height very high on his guitar, he needed the larger gauge to help prevent some of the breaks he had. If it was a 10 gauge string set it would've broken even more often than it did. 2.) Stevie LOVED to beat the ever loving shit out of his guitar while playing it. He attacked that instrument with anger and finesse at the same time. His setup is one of the most unorthodox yet best sounding setups in blues guitar history.
@TexasMagnolia6 жыл бұрын
John Douglas Racing Video thanks. Yes, he loved them high set...God, I miss him ever day.
@ShidSnorkel6 жыл бұрын
Actually he used .13’s but tuned a half step down so it was like playing .12’s his guitar tech said sometimes he even went up to .17’s (rare but still did it. you’d have to open the tuners a little more to fit that size.) which is completely insane but hey he enjoyed that really thick tone

Glad to see Stevie is still blowing your mind. And yes, Rene Martinez was the guitar tech of all guitar techs. He worked out the perfect string set for Stevie's guitars. The keyboardist, Reese Wynans, is actually one of the best in the business. Don't forget drummer Chris "Whipper" Layton and bassist Tommy Shannon, Stevie's stellar rhythm section.
