When I was 9 or 10 years old my parents took me to Nashville Tennessee to hear a concert. The show was called the Grand Ole Opry and we saw several acts. Then this lady took the stage. As she was singing she looked down at one point, strainght into my eyes. Then and there she captured my heart. Where ever she is she still has it 6 decades later. RIP Patsy Cline.

Patsy was one of two female artists of her era that sang with a tear in her voice. The other was Brenda Lee. Thanks for the reaction!

Patsy is an icon and classic of classic 50's music... as you say,, mostly sad and suffering songs....but her voice and style is very good and unique... Sadly , like many others she died very young in a plane crash...... thanks for sharing Angela... your sincere reactions are always greatly appreciated !!!!!

Patsy was one of kind. Willie Nelson actually wrote "Crazy" for her! Angela, you should react to George Jones and "He Stopped Loving Her Today". You're such a hopeless romantic that I'm sure you will love it! Some say it's the greatest country love ballad ever written

She died way too early but she was so beloved. She had a much lower voice register than most people had heard women singing in mainstream music although this was more in the country world but she definitely crossed over. She just had the pipes and she can sing high pretty well but her strength was really in her lower registers with that deep resident voice for a woman. It's really fascinating and then she has all that emotion to go with it.

Very good video! I really enjoyed it. You're very pretty by the way! Patsy Cline was exceptional. She could have sung opera, she had it in her and would have made a dynamite mezzo-soprano. She really have everything, looks, sincerity, guts, toughness, tenderness and of course the incredible, inimitable voice.

Great Reaction. Let me explain something you do not know. I am an old, old man. This was my generation. I grew up listening to her. People do not talk about her life and her history. Patsy put her emotions in every song she did. She was married to a very abusive husband who did everything to her. Now you will understand the lyrics of her songs.

What a voice! I believe that she influenced just about every female singer out there. I wouldn't say female singers of today because they're aren't too many good ones out there. She had that teardrop in her voice that could make you cry along with her. She was one of a kind.

As others here are saying, Willie Nelson wrote "Crazy" for her, but Hank Cochran wrote this one for her. I don't know whether they wrote them for her because she had a hard time with relationships or what. A lot of her songs were sad, though. One of her best known songs, "Three Cigarettes in an Ashtray" from 1957, has a similar theme as this one, and her very first single in 1955 was titled "A Church, A Courtroom, Then Goodbye." Her biggest 1957 hit, "Walking After Midnight," is happy, though.

I love your analysis at the end. I mean I've heard the song a bunch and even though she was before my time I have a deep appreciation for her as a musician and a singer myself and just that whole setting and context at the time. But I love your announce in the sense that you went ahead and acknowledged the hard uncomfortable truth of what she was talking about and just brought it right out in the open. I mean you can listen to the song and ignore the lyrics and it's beautiful but if you factor the lyrics in, it's so poignant, it's so moving. It's so complex.

One more sad song for that certain mood from Patsy's catalog. The song is called, SO WRONG. The haunting beauty is even more melancholy than this song. More than a few of her songs carry a haunted quality amplified by her voice. It's why we connect with them, why they still have meaning, why we still listen to them, and why we still care.

Patsy Cline did a song written by Willie Nelson called "Crazy". Maybe you've heard of it? If you know the song "Crazy" as sung by Patsy Cline, you should check out Linda Ronstadt's cover of "Crazy". Linda pulls it off extremely well! Patsy's version has a little more angst in her voice. Linda's version is a little smoother.

So glad to see you enjoying the music I grew up with far too many decades ago. Have you listened to any Joe Walsh? If not I recommend "Life's Been Good" by him. I think you'll like it. Sometimes you have to go through a few (or a lot) of bad ones before you find the Right one. True Love IS out there, please don't give up. Please keep up the good work dear. Take care.

Patsy was one of a kind, but if you want a taste from a different generation you should try K.D. Lang (Down to My Last Cigarette). When she started out she claimed to be the reincarnation of Patsy. She toured with her band: K.D. Lang and the Re-Clines.

There use to be jokes about country music that either the song is about trucks, farms, tractors or break ups. I like Patsy Cline but, I like them as songs. Not a testament to life. The movie Sweet Dreams is nice. If I took every song that was depressing personally, I would be depressed a lot. I love Patsy but, just as a singer and the music.
