Thank goodness for sewing. Our 9 x5 island is now in lockdown. Fresh food easy to get hold of from the farmers. I have lots of project to do. Your dress is lovely, more videos please to keep me sane. Keep safe everyone. Good luck with your daughter in laws business.

The dress looks absolutely lovely on you Kim! I have ordered the pattern and I can see it becoming a summer staple! We are very blessed to live in this time when we can reach out via social media and stay connected to one another through platforms such as FaceTime and Skype. We are also so lucky to have a hobby that connects us to so many others virtually around the globe and it’s comforting that we are all going through this very fearful time together. Stay safe my friend ❤️❤️❤️

Love your calm and logical approach to sewing and life. Thanks for the encouragement and practical advice dealing with the worldwide health issue. Had one incredibly stretchy fabric (both ways) that was beyond difficult to sew and it has made me avoid using them. Pattern didn't call for stay stitching so maybe (no commitment) will give them another try. Anyway, thanks for making these videos and the positive aura that surrounds you.

Your dress looks so good on you, plus that sure is your color. I'm so thankful I found the sewing community at a very dark time in my life. It has made me feel connected to the world in spite of being homebound. You are one of my favorites and a few extra vids will help everyone. You have a gift for calming people.

thank you for this video. My mom told us the same thing “If you can’t say anything nice,; don’t say anything at all”. A good motto to live by. Love your dress. I’m excited to make this pattern. (Kathyrn from Saskatchewan, Canada) we are in our third day of self-isolating. I plan to sew my way through it as well.

Love your dress :) and your dedication to staying positive through all of this! This is such a hard time for all of us: the uncertainty, the social distancing, the "OMG my income is 100% reliant on large gatherings, should I go get a job? Crap my child is in the vulnerable population, money isn't worth it!" Ya know... So, like you, I'm home (in Ohio :) ), sewing, cooking, playing, and riding it out. This too shall pass! And when it's all over, we will have some fabulous new clothes to wear! I'm currently working on a red double gauze Pleiades 2 dress by French poetry, and nearly finished a McCall's button down puff sleeve top. And we have baby chicks to keep us entertained :)

I love your dress and how you've used the border. Looks great. Good info about serger vs sewing machine for that fabric. It's admirable your granddaughter is launching a business for a jewelry line to honor your mom. Yes, please do share a link once she has it up and running. Will it be an Etsy store? I purchase from Etsy often.

I used slinky knit fabric just like you did and having trouble with the 2inch hem. I am used to a turn over and stitch. What are your suggestions for a good 2inch hem for slinky knit fabrics?

Hello Kim, thanks for your insights, they are much appreciated. I had the pattern for a while and made a knit fabric vivace dolman dress and it came out great. Just a few days ago I came across this super blue pattern material, intersected with clear fabric between the colored patterns, just beautiful. I instantly started to make another vivace dolman and it looks good, even though it was very hard to sew. On my last model, I found that the collar is too big. Do you have any idea on how I could shorten that? thank you Maria

Not sure of what you want to fix? The collar is overall too big? Dips down too low? Let me know and maybe I can help you!

Kim great pattern for your boarder print fabric. I think this is a very interesting pattern especially since it can be for knits and woven. I may have to get this one also. I have plenty of patterns, fabric, thread and other notions but today I ran out of tape to put my patterns together😂

Thank you so much for this video. I was on the fence about this pattern, but think I will try it. My friend wants to make it for a bathing suit coverup. Thinking I'll use some gauze. Also, I have recently discovered that I have forward sloping shoulders and a narrow front than back. Can you provide the link for the narrow shoulder adjustment. I have looked but can't find it.

Thank you Kim. I feel a little bit less alone with you, all sewing sisters. It's a very very hard time for me. My husband is in Africa and can't come back home for the moment. I don't know when I'll see him again. And my mother is ill and it's soooo difficult at the moment to find à radiological office wich is open. I pray god to find a solution and I keep sewing. ......

I love this dress, Kim! Is the pattern printed or only an online print out? I don’t think I can print out right now. My computer has failed... don’t want to use the “d” word right now.😉
@dorothysdaughtersews4 жыл бұрын
It is a PDF pattern. I don’t think they have a print version, but there is a copy shop format so you can send it to a print service.

While I know this comment is 2 yrs late, it might help someone else. Next time you have a fabric that your machine wants to “eat” try strips if tissue paper under the fabric. Or you can also, use a straight stitch throat plate if one is available. Or finally, sew from the left needle position (instead of center) and mark on your throat plate where the correct seam allowance will be. Any of these things will help. And spray starch is an absolute must…so good call!
