A system and company that was built on the earned crowd-funded dollars, missed its release date by four months and eventually made it to store shelves and online retailers. The finished product had its deserved faults and criticisms, but for well under half the cost of the Amico, backers at least got to actually own an Ouya.

I never comment on KZbin videos but I've been following this debacle throughout and have to say that Ian nails it with his value proposition argument. I picked up an Xbox Series S for £249.99 ($299.99) for the bleak Xmas of 2020 when Covid was rampant and I couldn't visit my family. For £1 to get an initial 3 months then £11.99 ($14.99) a month for Game Pass I've been swimming in gaming content ranging from day one releases of Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite and Psychonauts 2, plus many many more titles to suit all tastes and ages. How on earth could this console (the Amico) even attempt to compete with this kind of product? Even with a relatively robust release schedule and host of third party support it would be a tall ask. Coming in with none of this as well as bizarre proprietary tech like the funky controllers and NFT(?) game cards they'd be eaten alive by Sony, Nintendo, Microsoft and Evercade.

re: $300 spend on better hardware... ATARI's CFO just said there is $800 VALUE in the $400 Atari VCS !! Bee Ess - he says it's a miniPC not a console, not an android box. In the interview 48 hours ago, he used the term 'TROLLS' in his answers (Tommy !!?) he said his team was determined to NOT prove them correct "We converted many of them. They now correct people when they see it called a console or android box" that it's a MINI PC - his sell was 'stop cluttering the living room with Tower PCs and laptops' play Atari and old stuff on a small minipc, since it can handle minecraft and fortnite - THAT is curious, though their $280-400 price is not selling like mad. $300 as you said gets XBOX stuff, which he sais is $1100 of hardware MSFT & SONY take a loss on. duh ! +PC mode is needed since the GIANT games with kids, will never port to a tiny install base, or even put a youtube netflix app on - amico needed to learn this, their CFO never worked much in tech. +Why not buy a miniPC for LESS money - when people compare prices I bet they do that. Intellivision claimed it raised $17 million in one of its videos, and assuming that was once true before it was all pissed away/mismanaged, imagine if $1 million was put into Earthworm Jim 4 development! But nah, instead they setup triple-A salaries and now have nothing to show for it say cardboard IOU boxes that'll likely be orphaned (nothing to play them on). Atari which has its console on mainstream retail shelves, has defeated Intellivision once again. It's unfortunate that Atari didn't buy the INTV IP before Coleco Amico Tallarico got his hands on it, but oh well.

"Potential Investors/Aquiriers Outside the Start Engine Universe". The Start Engine Universe IS the Amico project. So they are looking to sell anything of value that isn't the actual console. In other words they are seeking to sell the Intellivision Branding and IP. Which moght still have some degree of value, in spite of what they have done with it. If anyone buys it they can get a moderate revenue stream from licensing out the retro shit to AT Games or similar for $30 Walmart plugnplays. What it also means is as soon as any check to purchase the brand clears these clowns will hoover it up by paying off their shady loans to the business, and then immediately file for bankruptcy. It's kind of transparent what the plan is at this point.

There is an Intellivision plug and play already, it's called the Intellivision Flashback by AtGames. It cost for cheap a few years ago (around $30-$40) but nowadays it goes up in prices (around $70-$90). If you hadn't pick one up then, you won't have any luck picking it up now as you will pay more for it and there aren't that many of them available everywhere.

My guess is that they are negotiating a fire sale. Assets are likely being sold to a vulture capitalist or to some other entity that just wants the Intellivision / Amico IP and any assets they have, and do something with it. The "champ" version, while the original version, is probably mostly relegated as a regional difference now. The usage of chomp vs champ world-wide is 2-to-1 in favor of chomp. Barely anyone owns horses now and that definition of the word champ is now unknown to most English speakers. Personally, I never heard the champ version of the phrase until now. It was not heard on TV, movies, radio (back when that was viable), or in person while living in multiple states.

Intellivision in the 70s and early 80s was a high end super system. An intellivision plug and play controller sold as a non-limited-edition budget item sold as a low cost toy could easily sell in the millions, but that’s like a car company bragging that their economy cars outsell luxury speeeboats, its a different market and arguing in those terms is inherently dishonest even if it were true and doesn’t prove anything meaningful.

A “cursory” talk sounds accurate if you look at the Amico’s history. Whenever they say they’re “in negations” for something, I feel like it usually means that someone reached out to another company via email and they’re trying to get the ball rolling. You know with Germany upping it's military budget because of the Ukraine situation I am now fully expecting someone to go through the books and seeing how much money they spend on the amico. I imagine it would go something like this: "Members of parliament I have gone through our nations budget and seen that we have spend half a million euros on the development of something called: Intellivision Amico. This is half a million that we could have spend on our military!" Then someone points out that half a million is nothing on a goverment budget, some tabloid will pick it up and boom they have a political crisis on they're hands. Let me help you guys, the second they started talking about family friendly, is when they change the business address to Utah, and Mormons got involved. This product is being designed and sold for Mormons, and their family home evenings. Here is a game console you’ll never have to worry about containing inappropriate material for your children’s fragile little minds. I guarantee you they’re going around the old Mormon money playing up the fact that this supports their cult. All they want to do is avoid prison at this point.So they’re trying to convince these people to back their play. These are exactly the same kind of people that were behind clean flicks, the Mormon video piracy operation where they would edit Movies to fit their delicate sensibilities and had the balls to sue the movie industry for refusing to alter their movies to fit their specifications or to provide the TV edits that no Director wants to make in the first place to their tiny audience. Warner Brothers had actually attempted this with a reasonable lineup of their biggest sellers back in the 90s, I was a video buyer at the time, and absolutely no one bought them. I mean not one copy in the six months before I sent them back. To give you a nice parallel, I’m willing to bet that the rocks friends in the movie financing industry bailed out Vince McMahon as a favor to him, rather than the fact that the XFL was a good investment. They know they’ll get their return one way or the other

@@Jeremo-FD Vince McMahon brought back the XFL a few years ago, despite the fact books were written about what a stupid idea it was originally, ans how virtually everyone told him it was even more stupid to do it again. The Rock found Investors to bail out Vince. Given that he is quite possibly the biggest movie star in the world at this point, Virtually everything he does is guaranteed to have a good return. Therefore the kind of people who finances movies and other might be willing to do his friend a solid in exchange for favors down the line. As the XFL was in no way a sound or a smart investment, that is very likely what happened in that case, exactly what Tommy and Company are trying to do here.

I see parallels with Butch Hartman and Oaxis. That guy, like Tommy was also out of his depth. He is notably a cartoon animator, VA and producer, doing mostly creative things. But he thought he was capable of running his own entire TV network, a family-friendly one at that, trying to convert more people into Christianity.

Was actually excited for this console 3 years ago, I sold all my retro consoles and video game collection, made a killing on how high the retro market is, so this for me looked like it could work, just a quick game here and there , nothing too detailed, i was gonna pre order one and decided not to, as time has gone on I am so over this crappy console that they couldn’t pay me now to take, in fact for the price they will be charging for it you would have to be mental to pay that , 229-249 , horrible, in fact I know it’s not their competition but in that price range sorry it is the Xbox series s is a little monster for 299.00 , I purchased that and for 14.99 you get the ultimate game pass , you would have to be mental to purchase this android box running KitKat for 249.00
