Saban is the standard. He won championship in the terrible BCS era and the start of the playoff era where you had to win almost every game. Now you can lose 3 games and still compete for a title.

Alabama would have made the 12 team playoff every single year from 2008-2023 if it existed during Saban's tenure at Alabama. Think about that. 2008, 2010, 2013, 2019, 2022 are all teams that didn't make the BCS Championship game, or the 4 team playoff, but they all would've had to have been beaten again in this new format, so Saban could've easily won many more championships under this new format

Pete Carroll is still the gold standard. Saban benefited from the BCS computers and media bias. The BCS cost the Trojans about five national championships. Carroll's best USC teams were better than any Alabama team. Just look at what happened to all of Saban's former players in the pros.
