Nothing beats a 300yen soba at a railway station while it is snowing. Unbeatable. Oh only steaming hot oden. Japan is heaven for food and living there for 5 years I loved it all. Even the 7 eleven egg sandwiches.

this is the first guy ive heard talk about the air that comes through your mouth and nose when you slurp noodles, and how it helps to accent and improve the taste experience. we all know that part of your tasting relies on your sense of smell. i realized this phenomenon when i was eating some noodles and broth i made some time between 2021 and 2022. I had made a broth that contained caramelized onions (like a ghetto french onion soup) and when i slurped the noodles up i could REALLY taste the onion, when i didnt it wasnt as intense. good on him for sharing that bit with everyone who watches, hopefully you are all enjoying your noodles and broth a lot more. happy slurpin~

The culture is much different from ours, you have to adapt to their way of life, as for work I wouldn’t have a clue because I worked for the Canadian government. I know for a fact that they used to work long hours.

Been living here in Tokyo for almost a decade and I guarantee you that nobody say SAYONARA to say goodbye in daily conversation, unless : 1. Students to teacher. 2. You're saying farewell before embarkibg on a very long journey.

Whatever Japan does, even if it’s “western” food, they will make sure to do it with 100% perfection!! This is why Japan has the best food in my opinion, everything is handled with utmost care and quality

@@ev304 Just got back from Japan a week ago. I had the time of my life in Japan. I learned that I don't have to spend a lot just to enjoy Japan. There's a lot of things and places in Japan you can do for free, like Ueno Park that I got to see my first cherry blossom even while it's still winter. My partner who lives there told me that those kind of Sakura are special since they bloom in the winter. I also got to experience a festival in the same park and got to experience street foods and music there. It was a dream come true for me since Japan is in my bucket list, I will surely go back there again and do it again.

I’m currently watching British Baker with Paul Hollywood and for the most part whenever green tea is used in the bakers flavors he is not seen as a fan so seeing him in this special visiting Japan is crazy! I am so gonna enjoy this!

I stopped watching last bake off season after the debacle of Mexican week. And Paul had been to Mexico before the show. I hope there was a research team along with him this time and that if they choose to feature some bakes from Japan they do it with respect. Usually it's matcha this, yuzu that. And they don't have the historical/cultural segments anymore which I still miss.

I had no intention of watching the whole thing when i started I didnt realize how long it was but once I started I had to see the whole thing. I would like to see one more episode of the parts cut out. Im sure theres enough for a couple more hours. Theres too much to even comment on but the main thing is I watch tons and I mean tons of NHK world Japan (not the negative news) just everuthing thats all about the culture and people of japan and i love learning all the history straight from the mouths of those that were there or grew up with the family memories of their life. Fascinating really. I cant find a reason to not want to retire there even sooner could I afford it. What a beautful space of energy and beauty.

1:11:55 they should probably explain the history how it is. Japan was deprived of any military capability after being defeated by the Allies in World War II and was forced to sign a surrender agreement presented by General Douglas MacArthur in 1945. They were considered so dangerous and deadly after WWII and what had happened with Korea they forbidded them from creating a full military. United States actually is in Japan to defend Japan from any possible attack because they are not allowed to have a big military. They only have 250k men roughly and because of the agreement, and USA actually provides the security for Japan.

日本人でも凄く楽しめる番組だと思います。ポールさんの感想が非常にフェアで、観ていて楽しかったです。 もずくや豆腐は日本人でも苦手な人がいて、私ももずくは嫌いで食べません😅 懐石で生魚ばかり出て来て、ウンザリしてたのもすごく分かります。私も生魚はあまり好きではないので😂 ポールさんが失礼だというコメントもありますが、日本人としてはあまり気にならなかったです。欧米とはまるで違う文化なので、余程変な態度や重大なマナー違反をしない限り日本人は寛容ですよ。 でも公道で大声を上げるのは良くないですね。(あの謎の男性誰？)

I’m half Japanese and tofu is good on occasion but it’s definitely not for everyone. Honestly many Japanese people think that traditional tofu dishes are pretty bland also.The end of the day let people like or don’t like things to eat.

@@hbic3 if they add flavours, it automatically becomes flavoured melon pan. theres also strawberry melon pan, and vanilla cream melon pan. the key is that standard melon pan is just bread with a crunchy outer layer shaped to look like a japanese melon 😍❤️

Idk it depends on the brand, “top ramen” is always the ones that don’t come in a cup or bowl or anything and need to be cooked on a stove top. Also “Top” is the brand. I’ve personally never heard “instant noodles,” but I have heard “cup of noodles” a lot.

Tofu can taste good. Usually it will tase like whatever seasoning you use on it. But she preferred to have no seasoning at all. So bland Tofu is not a good taste. She should have explained that to him, unless she is not aware also.

Would i pay that much for a strawberries? I dont think so! I do like their Cherry Blossoms. The University of Washington has a lot of Cherry Trees which give us a nice festival of flowers as well as the Avenue past Seattle University. I have not seen so many Kit Kat bars. And it has also been years since I have eaten one. Maybe I will go get a few! SATTLE, WA
