This was part of a tribute to George Harrison who had passed in 2001. The video I believe was in 2002 and was a moving tribute to him by having various artists sing George's songs.

The second half of the song is how it was originally recorded. The first half by Paul is how George use to play it on ukulele when getting together with mates.

First half sounds more like the original Beatles, second, more like Eric Clapton. Maybe George Harrison was musically closer to Clapton.
@daletwin1
@daletwin1 3 жыл бұрын
@@Daniela-pr7rz What are you smoking? the first half does NOT sound like the original Beatles version of something more than the second part. Not at all. When the band comes in is when it sounds like the Beatles. And Clapton is playing the lead guitar George wrote. The song is the song when you hear the bass part and the lead guitar. Just a ukulele does not sound like the original recording as much as when the band comes in and Paul does the original harmony he did in the recorded version. Something is not Something without the bass and lead guitar in it. Those are the best and most important parts of the song besides the words.

Eandy, I agree with you. I don't think Daniela listens to the Beatles. Her comment is way off the wall.
@Daniela-pr7rz
@Daniela-pr7rz 3 жыл бұрын
@@daletwin1 It is my opinion that Paul's version sounds more like a Beatles song generally sounds like. More than the slow version, even though they originally recorded the song more like the second version. Don't you think you're just a little too easily offended here? Check yourself.
@daletwin1
@daletwin1 3 жыл бұрын
@@Daniela-pr7rz you are the one saying I am offended. I just asked you what you were smoking. You disagreed with the original comment and so if you can't handle someone disagreeing with you than don't criticize other people's comments. There is no way Paul just playing a ukulele by himself ( no ukulele even in the original recording ) sounds more like the original version than the second part of this performance which has all the original elements in the original song does. What makes the song sound like the original is the bassline, the lead guitar, the harmonies and the drums. I agree with the original comment and am standing up for that comment. Speaking of checking yourself, go get your ears checked. I would be surprised if you are a Beatles' fan. No way the first part sounds more like the original song than the second part where Ringo is playing the original drum part, Clapton is playing the original lead guitar, Paul is singing his original harmony part and someone is playing that incredible bassline you hear in the original recording. You are just wrong. The song is not the song without that bassline and lead guitar in it.

It is said that George didn't write as many good songs as John, or Paul, but he wrote as many great songs. Actually this concert was from the 2002 Concert For George Harrison. A year after George had died, his family, Eric Clapton, fellow former Beatles, and many many friends and colleagues decided to put on a tribute concert to him. Yes, Paul and Eric are great! But if you take another look you'll find other great legendary musicians on the stage with them, like Ringo on drums, Jeff Lynne (from ELO) also singing and playing guitar, Billy Preston on organ and lots of other musicians George worked with throughout his career. And, yes, this was a song the Beatles recorded; arguably one of the greatest songs George Harrison wrote with the Beatles shortly before they broke up and his owb first number one hit song (usually John Lennon and Paul McCartney wrote the hits for the Beatles)!

This is from the tribute concert for George Harrison - an absolute ALL STAR BAND!! Paul starts playing on the uke, a favorite instrument that George often carried with him. George wrote this song for his then wife Patti - Eric was madly in love with her and ended up marring her after she and George broke up. Eric wrote "Layla" and "Bell Bottom Blues" about his unrequited love for her when she was still married to George, both epic songs.

Tribute concert for George who had passed away about a yr earlier. Those closest to him performing his songs with his son, Dahni onstage with the best. Many legends here on stage. Here, in this song, Paul starts with just the ukulele - b/c George used to love to break out the ukulele when he had guests over and he and his many musician friends would play ukulele ... :) 20013 is when this video was posted - not when performed. Just another FYI this is a song George wrote for his first wife, Pattie who later left him to marry Eric Clapton, one of his closest friends - George and other Beatles were at the wedding.And another FYI - sorry, but Paul McCartney is pretty old now in 2020 - close to 80 - Ringo (who was playing drums in back) must be 80 by now. They both still tour but Paul has sadly lost his voice. Still puts on a great show.

Beatles song written by George, sung by his friends, former Beatles, and son. Paul sang harmony on the original too.

The song was written by Beatles' lead guitarist George Harrison. And the clip is from the Concert For George which was performed in tribute to George Harrison after his death in 2001.

George Harrison wrote this about his wife Patti Boyd. She left George for Eric Clapton who sang and played guitar on this version. Eric went on to write Wonderful Tonight about her. Basically she had two of the greatest love songs written about her. The webs we weave x

George Harrison had given that left handed ukulele to Paul as a gift. He and Paul would play them when George invited Paul over to his house. Anyway, I agree with you that Eric and Paul's voices sounded incredible together.
