When I was alone an elderly woman who was half blind asked me if I liked banana pudding. I told her yes and next when she saw me she smiled and said this is for you. She had given me a large Pyrex bowl full of banana pudding. Then after that every once in a while she would say this is for you. Then one day she moved to a nursing home in another state and I never saw her again. She always talked about God and salvation. I will never forget her. Thank you for sharing your recipe.

That's a great idea. We were all talking about a substitute cookie Mrs. Evelyn and crushing the cookies you have left and topping the dish would be a really great idea. As a matter of fact, I think it would possibly be better than whole cookies on the top, they would absorb more of the pudding, maybe. I will admit though, the Chess cookies look so pretty on top in whole form. Mrs. Paula used Pepperidge Farm in her video but you could substitute with Lorna Doone or Walkers. Now, I've never heard of Walkers so I'm not sure if you can buy those in the grocery store or do you have to purchase online in a specialty shop. Here we can buy both Pepperidge Farm and Lorna Doone at the grocery store. I was thinking that the Pepperidge Farm Chess cookies looked really big but it stands to reason that when refrigerated for several hours, they get to a cake consistency, which sounds really good. That banana pudding and a cold glass of whole milk (not that 2% stuff) would be incredible. I mean, you are eating a rich decadent dessert, why not treat yourself to a glass of whole milk. OK, everyone enjoy, I love Mrs. Paula.

Now, I've never heard of Walkers so I'm not sure if you can buy those in the grocery store or do you have to purchase online in a specialty shop. Here we can buy both Pepperidge Farm and Lorna Doone. Paula.

This is how I was taught to make my Banana pudding", I don't like banana pudding itself too sweet, so using these ingredients vanilla pudding, sour cream and whipped cream calms it down and is so delicious, it's like eating zabaglione custard with out the eggs; but I always used the whipped cream due to time everyone loves it! I still used the Nilla Vanilla wafers, but I love the short bread cookies they don't go soggy as fast. eat it cold and so delicious you will not have a spoon left in the bowl! by the way you can use any fruit, strawberries, berries, etc.

I started making this recipe 4 years ago. It's a hit! I have an uncle that's 85 and he was the person that used to always make the banana pudding for family functions, I took his spot 4 years ago with this recipe. I use half the sweetened condensed milk, sometimes only a 1/3 b/c it's so freaking sweet, Lorna Doone and Chessman Cookies. I also made it recently with oatmeal (no raisin) cookies! Whew, so good!!!

I love this recipe for banana pudding. My aunt introduced it to our family many years ago. It was fun watching you make this right after I had watched Bobby’s video of a lighter version, because he was so precise about placing the cookies and bananas in an orderly manner and you just put them in the dish kind of every which way. LOL. Love watching both of you in the kitchen!

I thought the recipe was a secret and came from her husbands grandma, because they called her husbands late grandma...Big Mama. So, when I called my sister I was like, I know it’s a secret recipe but you think you can ask her if I can have it. I remember my sister laughing and saying it’s not a secret, Paula dean has this recipe out. Didn’t know where it came from til now. It’s nice to hear that it was one of your friends cause I think many people wouldn’t have been so honest and would’ve taken credit for such a great recipe. Please thank your friend from us all because this dessert 🍮 is a big hit... so delicious. My kids love it so much, I’m doubling the recipe as we speak. God Bless and much love ❤️
