I am a teacher … the bus driver did nothing wrong Heres what people are not understanding… kids are quick to say my mom is there or my dad is there… That doesnt mean that is the custodial parent … which is why the driver needed the yellow tags per district policy I had a student say thats my dad at dismissal… I never release them until I check if they are authorized on my list I once had a parent who had a restraining order come up to the school to pick up the child, the parent wasnt on the list so I called the mom…had I released the child to the parent we would have had an amber alert

I get that... And good on you for that. But there is a line that a bus driver or teacher isn't going to cross and get away with it. When you have a custodial parent, whether you know it or not, and the child has said that's their mom/dad then you better not get in the way of that student going to the parent or things are going to escalate. You only have authority and custody over a parents child until they say otherwise! You can say you don't know who the parent is etc and i get that, but the parent knows and the child knows... So you do you best but don't try to get physical with a child or parent in that process or it's going to turn ugly. 🤷

First, you have that list at the school. The driver doesn't. Second, this was a SUBSTITUTE driver. She didn't know any of the parents. Third, that yellow tag (as stated in this video) was for children who needed assistance getting off the bus. Third, she sped off with children standing by the door, twice And final point, she was charged for kidnapping, children endangerment, assault, and false imprisonment... for each child on the bus. She was found guilty and put in jail.

The school bus driver was correct to make sure students stay on the bus and take them back to a safe place or call the police. Parents pulling kids off bus screaming and yelling this is so sad they did not allow the bus driver to handle the situation the way she was trained to protect them. Really there were no Kidnapping done by bus driver and parents until you become the bus driver and have about 20 unruly students then you would see the situation different. Teachers and bus driver's have a major responsibility protecting all students.

What a lot of us fail to realize is there is a lot to being a bus driver. I didn't realize all that it takes to be a bus driver until I become a bus driver, there's a lot to it. Here's the thing, we see bus drivers and think they have an easy job. From recent experience, I can tell you, it's not easy. It can be kind of stressful, especially for a substitute driver. As a substitute bus driver, you're on a route that's probably totally new to you, with children who you don't know and who don't know you. As schoolbus driver, full-time or substitute, your first duty is to "KEEP" those children "SAFE", AT ALL COST! This means, 1)safely driving that big bus, and it's not as easy as they make it look, it takes a lot of practice. 2) Controlling 50 to 60 children, sometimes more, (some of them who lack home training.) Last but definitely not least, 3)KEEPING THEM SAFE!! I understand where everyone is coming from saying, "she threw the first punch/ pushed the parent first". But everyone has to understand, the bus drivers job is to keep "ALL" of those children safe, not just the children of the parents at "that bus stop". How was she to know that the parent trying to get on the bus wasn't carrying a gun or something, which would have placed "ALL" of the children in danger. Also, ABSOLUTELY no one other than school officials and the children are allowed on the schoolbus. IT'S ALL ABOUT KEEPING ALL OF THE CHILDREN SAFE. Soooo, having said all of this, I stand by my first comment.😉

The bus driver is responsible for the safety of those kids until released to the custody of their proper guardian. If she releases the child to someone who is divorced and does not have custody of the child and is not authorized to pick the child up from the stop, and the child is subsequently abducted....she is responsible for not following district protocol. Likewise, if she releases them into a hostile environment she is not operating in their best safety. She is absolutely allowed to return that bus to the school or other place of safety. The only abduction came from unruly parents physically removing children from the bus without them being released, because they were mad. The parent that swung on the driver should be charged with assault. The video has been edited to be misleading against the party who didn't film it. The parents can be mad....The driver did her job.

Here’s the thing. The parents likely didn’t have a pass to get the kids off, where I drive, the parents need to show us a pass thru Campus Portal or paper. Some drivers will still let the kids off if they recognize the kids parents. I normally don’t do that, and it’s just a pain on the last day because we don’t want their stuff getting soaked as kids run off. This bus driver was ABSOLUTELY NOT kidnapping the kids. The people who think this are insane. One thing the driver could have done better is looking at the parents drivers license to check the last names. I used to sub in for routes and it showed the parents last name, first name, contact info and all of that for the kids as well, she could have looked at that.

Don't matter what law is what, if I was a child on that bus and my father was there to pick me up, and the driver refused to let me off, laws be damned you don't stand between a parent and their child. He'd go pappa bear on her ass and take me home. That's something these school bus drivers need to remember, they are there to transport the kids from their parents home, to the school, and return the children promptly to their parents. The kids know who their parents are and will go directly to said parents. You get between the kid and their parent, you have no one to blame but yourself if you get hurt. Somewhere along the linese, these schools, the bus drivers, the states, seem to forget the most basic aspect of being a responsible and loving parent: Protecting their kids and not allowing ANYONE to hold their child against their will from returning to said parent. And one day, drivers like this woman, are going to learn that lesson the hard way and what jury will convict a parent trying to save their child. They try arresting any of these parents and putting them on trial, it will fail. No jury will convict them and prosecutor lawyers would be stupid to try to take such cases. These laws were meant to protect bus drivers from non-parents who may be trying to kidnap kids. Not protect kidnapping drivers from returning the kids to their parents. Documentation be damned want to know if a person is truly a childs parent, simply have said child point out their parent, or better yet, most parents keep a picture of their kids in their wallets. Easy identification. If the parent has a picture of their child, and the child does indeed call them momma or poppa, then you let the child goto their parent. Common sense reasoning. Something this driver clearly lacked and/or simply didn't care about having. And we saw that when from what I saw, one parent was in the doorway telling their child to come off and the driver shoved her off and she got slapped for that. She should count herself lucky it was only a slap. She assaulted first, and worse off, she assaulted a parent to keep the parent from their child. Stupid.

That bus driver wasn't doing anything illegal, if she was then I could understand parents trying to get their kids away from her but she wasn't and the parents that assaulted her should be charged with a crime.

🚌 ~ “Kidnapping the kids“? Those parents are about as ignorant as dogs. If you’re going to kidnap kids you don’t usually pull up to where the parents are and then start the kidnapping.
