After a lot of experimenting, I have found the perfect ale to go with the pie (Also perfect for Shepherds pie, Cottage pie etc): Guiness West Indies Porter. It's in the brown bottle with the yellow label and red writing. You're welcome :)

When you said buffalo I was thinking Bison, which I grew up eating & it's DELISH!! Is water buffalo different tasting than Bison? There's a difference in taste between deer & reindeer, I love both but prefer reindeer... sorry Rudolph
