That's what it's about, out having a ramble with random photography of what's about 😊

I had a sunny mornings walk around St Aidans the other morning. Not much to see but as you say, nice to be out and about. My best shot of the day was a "humble" chaffinch, but the low winter sun and the foliage made it one of my best recent pics. You never can tell but have to be out there.

That was very enjoyable! Could hear a Greater Spotted Woodpecker calling at 11:40. Reminds me of my own walks along the Stour to the east of Canterbury - many of the same birds here - especially those explosive Cettis.

Another great video - enjoyed rambling along with you, seeing what you saw. I'm stuck indoors more or less this week with workmen in, so this video was very timely for me to watch and imagine I was out there wildlife spotting too! More like this would be wonderful. I liked seeing the photos that you did get from your walkabout.

Enjoyed this video, Paul. Although I grew up just a few miles from Castleford, I left long before St Aidan's, was created. I now live in the Cotswolds, but have visited twice in the last year. The first time I did that same walk - it was very muddy - but cut back across the causeway to St Aidan's and was lucky to see the Black Necked Grebes and the Little Owl. I try to visit St Aidan's and RSPB Bempton Cliffs whenever i get back to Yorkshire. Next on the list is North Cave wetlands and some of the other reserves in East Yorkshire, which look very interesting.

Nice video, looks like a great area for a photo walk, thanks Paul! The bird you first thought to be a Kingfisher might've been a dunnock by the sound of it?

Great video Paul, brilliant to watch. Now we are getting into the dark days and damp conditions any chance you could do a short video on how you store your camera & lenses as I always have a fear of the dreaded fungus attack. 😊

I can't speak for Paul, but I can tell you that I purchased a Ruggard dehumidifying cabinet last year from B&H. It wasn't all that expensive, and the model I got has four shelves that slide out, plus a bottom shelf that stays in place. (Not sure if the shelves are of adjustable height, actually, as I've left them in the positions that they were when I got it.) In my case, the top shelf holds my old 300D and my R5, R5 Mk II, and R6 Mk II plus their batteries, I have lenses on the other three sliding shelves, and I keep spare batteries and memory cards on the very bottom. The cabinet looks like a little "wine snob" cabinet, but what it does is show me the ambient temperature of the room, plus the humidity level INSIDE the cabinet, which is currently at 39%. It may be worth looking into something like this.

I certainly understand the sentiment but the minute you leave your camera behind you can bet there would be a Sea Eagle in a tree next to the lake waving at you….
