On "Petrified pickles", some years ago I was helping my elderly aunt and uncle clean out their basement in Colorado (read: Dry climate). My aunt made pickles every year. We found some jars of her pickles, pushed behind other things and "lost" for more than 20 years per dates on the labels. The lids had been put on sufficiently loosely, combined with years of expansion/contraction. The water and vinegar had evaporated from the jar, the pickles were dry. We jokingly called them "petrified". Yes, my aunt and uncle and I all accepted the scientific explanation for actual petrification, and nobody took our term "petrified pickle" literally. There was some stone-like something on the surface, and looked much like the ones in this video. We just assumed it to be some mixture of spices and minerals from the water. We didn't bother analyzing these. We sent them to the city dump, not the museum. No doubt you can find wood in the Petrified Forest that's been chopped with an axe - wood legitimately brought in by legal campers, building legal campfires. I see no evidence that the pictured wood is petrified. I suppose had we been sufficiently grifty, we could have made money with our "Petrified Pickles", and made some claim about young earth, said "Jesus" loud enough, and ended up with millions of dollars.

As they did not specify which species, showing a picture of a fan-tailed raven (If I'm not totaly mistaken) would still be a member of the crow genus as is the Corvus Corax (common crow) or the Corvus tasmanicus (forest raven) It's similar to say here we see an ape - showing a picture of a human.

Great work Paul - once again! This is one of the best "Hovind-videos" I have ever seen...Even my 8 year old daughter could figure out that "this fish was giving birth while..." claim within a second or two. ... It was literally the very first thing she said, when I showed her Kent's argument: "Maybe that creature died while giving birth and THEN turned to stone, right dad?". And if you are wondering why I am allowing my children to see this kind of stupidity, it is just because it is so stupid - they are going to hear about it anyway and I am trying to teach them that you can't always just trust what you see, hear or read - and that you have to at least think about it yourself (preferably check their sources for any claim). At a minimun do a google search, if nothing else, before believing such wild claims. And no, I am not home schooling my kids - we have very good and free (I'm sure that Kent has a problem with that too...) education system here, but I am just prepping them for this kind of stupidity. They have just started to learn about religions in school anyway, so why not show them what religion can be at it's worst? Better that they hear this kind of idiocy from me than from anywhere else - otherwise they might believe it.

The solution used to pickle cucumbers is mainly a LOT of salt, vinegar, and a few herbs dissolved in water. Most pickles are sold with this solution still in the jar with the pickles. That's what pickle juice is. If the water and vinegar evaporated, you'd be left with a whole lot of salt crystals. Hovind's petrified pickle is just a dried out pickle full of crystallized salt.

It's also worth noting that wind speeds would be higher on a Jovian planet than a terrestrial planet like Earth all things being equal anyway. Terrestrial planets have a relatively thin atmosphere and thus a relatively small moving air mass and at the same time they have more surface features that shed vortexes when the wind passes them creating induced drag.
