How to repair a drywall ceiling hole fast and easy!
In this step by step drywall repair video tutorial I'll be showing you how to repair a drywall ceiling hole on a drywall ceiling. First I'll be installing the drywall after I square up the circular hole on the ceiling repair. I'll also show you a few tips and tricks from cutting the drywall, I'll install furring strips to attach the new piece of drywall. Then I'll show you how to use a drywall tape called FibaFuse to finish all the seams of the drywall repair with joint compound and the FibaFuse drywall tape.
From the finishing to sanding I'll show you several of my drywall tips and tricks for doing the bedding the FibaFuse, doing the mud work and sanding the drywall patch on this bathroom remodel where I also installed new drywall, finished the drywall and skim coated the entire bathroom ceilings and walls.
The Fibafuse drywall tape is a fiberglass composite that's a much stronger drywall tape compared to paper tape and fiberglass mesh tape and your tape joints are much easier to get flatter in my opinion. I bedded the Fibafuse with a 6 inch drywall taping knife and some USG all-purpose joint compound that comes with the dark green lid. Thanks for watching this how to repair a drywall ceiling hole video! -Paul

A few weeks before having to go into the army (I was drafted) I put in attic stairs for my mom and dad. My foot slipped off a stud and I fell through the sheetrock to the floor 8 feet below. My first thoughts weren’t of being hurt. The first thing I thought of was hoping I broke an arm so I wouldn’t have to report at the army induction center. My mom who was watching me work was thinking the same thing I was. We both laughed as she helped remove all the sheetrock and insulation off of me. I spent the entire time I was in the military in Nike Hercules Missile classes. The longest class was for fire control maintenance, which was a system to control the launches of missiles. When I was drafted I didn’t want to go to Vietnam so I signed up for the safest army class they had. I knew there were no Nike Hercules missiles in any war zones. They were strictly defensive weapons. I ended up becoming honor graduate in an international class that included Germany, Italy, Spain and South Korea. I became great friends with the South Koreans. They were all black belts in karate. Whenever I went to Juarez to drink and party I usually took a few of them with me. They were excellent and fast! While hanging out in a large hallway between classes I was joking with one of the South Koreans taunting him and saying he didn’t know karate. Even though he was 8 feet away on the other side of the hall the next thing I felt was his foot against my throat. He had me pinned against the wall. I couldn’t believe he was that fast. I couldn’t believe anyone could be that fast. I was glad we were friends.

We removed two florescent light fixtures and replaced them with two hanging light fixtures. We had to access and move the new fixtures to a slightly different spot. We had to put up a new junction box and bracket, and so we've got a 5x6 square hole, and several small holes. So glad to see how an expert does the work. Thank you, we're going to use your ideas.

Don't worry. You are not alone. The video is great. From a small hole he compounded half the ceiling and it came it good. I always compound only the small hole and it always comes out bad. Sanding? what for? I can't see that far anyway just throw some paint on it. Honey I'm done (lol).

Pro tip - never go in your attic after you had a pint of Jack Daniels. I went to run some hdmi wire and didn't need stairs to come down, landed straight in the living room.

I have that nasty spray in insulation all over my attic. They didn't uniformly distribute it, so once when I had a small roof leak, the insulation got wet in a spot where it was bunched up a foot high. Sure 'nuff, it got so heavy that it crashed right down into the family room. 18 inch by 3 foot hole in my ceiling! It's repaired, but I could never get the knockdown texture to match.

Nice video. Perfect round hole. Relatively low ceiling. I have a jagged hole, high ceilings and a light can in the way. Wish mine were this easy but good fundamentals anyway.

Hi Paul, I'm assuming that you cut a square patch instead of a round patch because its not easy (probably impossible?) to apply the tape to a circle, straight taping is quicker, easier. Thanks for the video

Thank you very much! Most professionals in any trade want to keep secrets so that they are more valued. My mother and her husband are nearing 60 years old, and I've been tasked with doing all sorts of work for the house. I managed to fix a couple roofs with help, but I've never done bigger drywall repair. Even just the idea of cutting out the patch 1st and then tracing it is a tip that'll really help me out.

It's easier to cut the circle with a contractors coumpass the same radius with the furrings strip .not cutting the ceiling is less work .

More than one way to skin a cat but my method for this is to cut a circle and finish in a circle. Drywall repair, to me, is much harder to make perfect than finishing new drywall. I try to keep holes as small as possible because the larger the hole, the farther you have to feather
