Great trip report. The terminal is very different to what I thought it would be, but the lounge looked pretty good, even though it was small. It's uncommon that one side of the rows have more legroom than the other row, as I thought it would be the same. Can't believe that it was 41 degrees in October.

Broome airport also helps residents of further away communities access Perth, from towns like Derby and Fitzroy Crossing which don't see direct flights to Perth. I tend to book the evening flights to try and escape some of the heat from the departures area of the terminal, but the fans do make it quite nice during the day.

Interesting facts regarding the 320s re operating abilities .. Luggage via containers is quite helpful in the wet season as well. QF on ex SYD directs use the 73s. 'Jury' maybe still out about operating reliability 'Bus v Boeing .. and operating cost. The Lounge is consistent with Qld Regional ... love the little snacks. Great scenic & the screaming 320s were very nice. Sandwiches & wine looked good ; I'm a 2 wine lunch person lol Excellent vlog as always ...,Can't find the VA one sorry hahaha

I don't know much about the power between an A320 and a B737, but I must point out that, with loading and unloading of the aircraft, both use a conveyor belt, with one person loading at the base and another loading inside. A 737 sits lower to the ground so it can be loaded without the belt, but one person usually still passes the bags to another person inside the cargo hold.
@nightowldickson3 жыл бұрын
3:38 - Paul, as you pointed out correctly these are ex-Jetstar A320s. However despite the fact that Jetstar uses baggage containers (ULDs), these flights under the QantasLink banner (flown by Network Aviation) are not containerised and are instead bulk loaded. In your footage at 4:52 that the ramp staff is pushing the beltloader away from the aircraft. As to the reason for this I'm not sure but it could be due to the availability of pallet loaders at these regional WA ports or weight considerations.

Great video as always Paul. Wow 41 degrees is a sizzling hot temperature, when I went it was only averaging about 35 degrees. I departed to the east on runway 10 (opposite direction to you) and arrived on runway 10 and the view of cable beach was spectacular. The seating/cafeteria looks really dead, when I visited in 2019 it was hard to find a seat in there. Also this is a irrelevant question but will you be attending this year's WOI ? Hi Paul. I guess there wouldn't be enough passengers to warrant 2 lounges, but it's a pity that in regional airports where there air 2 or more carriers, that a joint lounge could be run, like in some countries overseas.

I doubt either airline would want the other pax in their lounge. Defeats the purpose of having a lounge at all (assuming the purpose is simply to attract pax and make money rather than actual pax comfort)

Actually, ALL Qantas 737s have “magic carpet” which is a series of sliding sections that allow bags to be stacked at the doorway and then each section is moved to save staff getting into the compartment and stacking baggage, sometimes also called “sliding carpet”. In typical fashion, Virgin only have it on one compartment which a) causes weight and balance problems sometimes and b) seems ridiculous as it’s like saying they’re happy to have half their staff get injured……. But, VA don’t have UPDs on their A320s either, but of a ‘toy’ airline really, compared with any other company.
