Book early for international and fly during off season for best prices. If it’s a domestic flight, I’d buy about 90 days out. Prices tend to do a dip around this time before shooting back up. Use Google and set a price drop alert for your desire route. If you’re flying solo, won’t be checking a bag, and don’t care about where you sit, go for basic economy and save yourself some money.

I know this is meant to be quite funny but here is a serious tip. Buy a new, good router. Nowdays, WiFi is just as good as a wired connection for every averge consumer that doesen't want to transfer terrabytes of data through the own network. I own an expensive Asus router (about 300 dollars) from 2017-2018. I have the full 100MBit of my internet through 2 massive brick walls and 7 meters straight distance. (Or about 800MBit/s transfer speed) The router and wifi never laggged, crashed or something else after more than 2 years of operation. Connected are about 20 devices at the same time, but obviously not all are used at the same time all the time. Sure, an good router is expensive but it is definitely worth every buck. And ocnsidering that they made a significant jump in performance since the last 2 years is also nice. Really, the internet problems I ever had since then was comming from the provder itself. I just wanted to leave that here :D
@annthrockmorton55945 жыл бұрын
My Delta experience (since you asked!): First of all, this was many years ago. After my story, you'll understand why I don't choose Delta as a first choice for my admittedly infrequent flights. The part of the flight that turned out to be a good decision was white-knuckle flyer me -- not usually, but that day (premonition?) -- taking a Xanax before we took off. I was seated towards the very back of the aircraft, Starboard window. The flight was ATL to DFW. We were awhile into the flight, when smoke began sifting out of the overhead air vents (the little round ones, that you rotate.) The next thing I knew, a Flight Attendant went *running* up the aisle with a fire extinguisher. The air/smoke was turned off for several minutes; when it was turned back on, the smoke began again. The passengers (many International, I had noticed earlier) were, surprisingly to me, *completely* silent, save for one young lad who plaintively spoke: "Fire, Mommy." My memory fails me as to whether the Captain spoke first, or the oxygen masks deployed first. We were instructed to put them on until we were "below 10,000 feet." We were also told that we would be continuing into Dallas. I remember fixing my gaze outside my window, to see the ground w-a-y down there. We kept on the masks for 10-15 minutes, until the Captain said we were now below 10,000 feet, and could remove them. I think I just kept mine on. Eventually, we landed safely enough, (don't ask "how much later?" because it seemed like an eternity!) and, as we deplaned, some adult male passenger happened to have a disposable flash camera (this was, again, many years ago, even before cellphones). He turned around and took a photo of all the oxygen masks hanging down. I wished I could have had a copy of that photo! There were *so many* "Red Jacket" a/k/a Service Reps awaiting us as we deplaned. It was then I realized I had left the dress clothes which were for my Aunt's funeral (the reason for my trip) in the hanging section. I approached one of the Red Jackets and said, "Sir, I left my clothes for the funeral on the plane." Such a *look* he gave me, but the clothes were fetched. Surviving this drama changed my airplane travel in two ways: 1. I rarely book Delta. When this is a subject of discussion, my usual comment is, "I don't have good luck on Delta." Then again, I probably had *awesome* luck that day, and I'm certain some who know much more about flying an aircraft than I do would say the successful end to this event *should* mean that I *always* book Delta! Anyway, moreover: 2. I get really irritated when passengers don't pay attention to the safety talk at the beginning of the flight. I want to stand up, turn around, and say, "Listen *up* , people! You may need to *know* this!"

I flew Delta One round trip from Seoul to Atlanta, and my return flight was similarly disgusting. When I boarded the plane, there were white footprints all over the carpet. The flight attendants were scrambling from cabin to cabin (no dedicated DO staff for this flight!). The amenities were strewn in each seat rather than being placed neatly. Everything was grimy. My seat controls weren't functioning properly, and the seat in front of me didn't function at all and the passenger had to be re-seated. The "noise cancelling" headphones were a complete joke. I've had more luxurious and comfortable flights in economy class with other airlines. I will NEVER fly Delta again after that experience.

The International airplanes in Atlanta are from the old northwest and are being updated all the time, it just takes a long ass time because they have to move them all the way from around the world and doubled their fleet size, but there almost all gone. Okan Turkcan i was degraded from Premium Select to Economy comfort due to an equipment change on my last flight from Fra to Dtw, Delta offered me a 50 dollar voucher and kindly requested me to fuck off. Being a Platinum frequent flyer at KLM I didnt accept that and went to KLM who hosted my status, got a 500 euro voucher, the ticket price refunded and deep regrets and apologies but for Delta’s unsatisfactory and Skyteam unworthy behaviour. Unfortunately as the Platinum desk employee stated they receive a lot of similar complaints about Delta offering terrible service, rude staff and old equipment. Just boycot Delta they deserve to go bankrupt.

When I became a Northwest Airlines mechanic in 1981, we had our own flight kitchen and the food was great. The cleaning staff were employees, too, and the airplanes were fairly well cleaned (not as good as Euro carriers I've been told). Both services are now contracted out, Delta bought Northwest, and the food is dreadful and the planes are a flying landfill. As Mr. Lucas has found, you apparently can't pay extra and get a clean plane and decent food, either. I am saddened by how the industry has changed.

I flew local flights from Moline, Illinois to Huntsville, Alabama in late November 2019 and the state of the smaller planes in Delta's fleet is something to behold. There were several overhead bins that either struggled to close or struggled to open because of failed latches, seatback tables sagged, and the upholstery was worn and torn on some seats. The service made up for it somewhat as the attendants are hugely attentive and polite, even on 2 seperate regional flights (4 total flights) that as a whole were shorter round trip than your one transcontinental flight here. As far as my limited flight experience goes, Delta gets low marks in my book.

I actually flew for the first time at the beginning of the year with Delta (not just the airline, but flying in general) and it was a very pleasant experience. We had about a 5-hour flight to LAX in basic economy I'm not a small person and I actually found it pretty comfortable, there wasn't a great amount of legroom but it was manageable. Everyone was super friendly and helpful and although we didn't get meals the snack cart came around 3 separate times. I honestly have nothing else to compare it to, but my friend who I travelled with has flown many times and was pretty happy with her experience as well. I would happily fly with Delta again. Preferably business or even comfort+, because I must say, I'm jealous of the arm and leg space lol.

I know a recently retired flight attendant from Delta & she's not surprised at the general conditions of the plane. At some point they don't put a premium on that. It's not so much that they don't want to keep up the condition of the planes, but they are older airframes & don't have the downtime it takes to perform the tasks required to keep up. It's well known that Delta is invested in keeping up the fleet to get the most use out of older planes. They have established their own MROs specifically for this purpose.

Paul, I flew Delta One from LAX to Rome with a layover in JFK this past July. Your review is spot on. My LAX to JFX leg of the trip in seat 1A was a bit dirty and the chicken was dried out with a super hardened, caked on sauce of some type. I looked around and pretty much everyone else had the same food issue. However, the crew were really awesome, nice, and helpful. The entertainment options were extremely limited. United Airlines CEO earns $12 million a year while United has a bad reputation while an ANA (Japanese based airline) CEO just put his salary to only $90,000, and a Japanese monk who became CEO of Japan Airlines worked hard to save the airline from bankruptcy and both ANA and JAL are now 5 star airlines.

My husband flew Delta from Dulles to Philadelphia. At the time, he was flying on American military orders, which means they're not supposed to kick him off due to weight. They did it anyway. Then, offered him a voucher (like he would want to fly with you ever again). They did rebook him on the later flight, but he could've caught a train faster than would have taken him to wait for the later flight and then take it. Meanwhile, his checked bags weren't pulled off the original flight, so they took it to the unclaimed luggage area. It's in a separate terminal. It was just a nightmare after nightmare.

I flew this same aircraft and was astonished by how uncomfortable it was. The seat is very narrow, the legs are lower than the torso part of the seat, even when fully raised, which was ergonomically unsound and painful for me. As well, the seats are hard and uncomfortable. I thought I would try Delta to save my company money, but I'm back to flying United in their much more comfortable Polaris seats. And you are correct about the video screen. It was small and hard to see. Delta used to have the best food back in the day when airlines were decent. Now they have the worst.
