Great video mate and can you please do some videos in Australia on NSW TrainLink’s XPT and Xplorer Trains. The XPT’s have First class, economy and sleeper and some more that I don’t know of. The Xplorers have first class and economy. And can you also go on Transwa trains in Western Australia and QR Trains in Queensland and Great Southern Rail trains like Great Southern, The Overland, The Ghan and the Indian Pacific

So for those of you who don’t know, the “CB Lansing” garden is named after flight attendant Clarabelle Lansing, who died on-board Aloha Airlines flight 243 when she got sucked out of the aircraft

CB Lansing was the chief stewardess and only fatality on Aloha Airlines flight 243. See the Mayday / Air crash investigation episode 'hanging by a thread'. I'm pleased to see the memorial garden is still being looked after.

I was on the leg of the flight just before Aloha 243 lost its roof. It was a completely normal flight. I was seated about 5 rows back from where it would eventually tear and nothing was amiss. I remember CB Lansing. She was kind, efficient and professional. She was so nice to a little boy who was seated in the row ahead of me. R.I.P., CB Lansing. Glad to see that they still remember her. I'm going to Maui in March and have a layover in HNL so I'll be sure to pay my respects. Thanks for the video.

catbyte 06 I loved hearing that. It feels sad that Aloha 243 even happened since it could have been avoided. Likely only 1 person died since it could be worse. R.I.P. CB Lansing.

I love how you say Kaua'i "Cow-why" It is a beautiful Island. the Hawaiian's say cow-wa-ee. On the Big Island there is the Captain Cook Memorial on the big Island it was a plot of land gifted to Britain, and is considered British Territory and is maintained by the Royal Navy, so technically it is possible to stand with one foot in Hawai'i and one in Britain. Aloha Nui Paul.
@guns4h1re

For anyone wondering about CB Lansing, she was chief flight attendant on Aloha Airlines flight 243. On April 28, 1988, flight 243 was flying from Hilo, Hawaii, to Honolulu. Soon after takeoff, the aircraft suffered from explosive decompression, losing 1/3 of the roof. Lansing was serving passengers in row 5 when the plane decompressed, and was sucked out at 24000 feet. She became the only fatality of the flight, and her body was never found.

I've flown HA on inter-island flights a few times: it's cool to see the flight attendants serving drinks at warp speed like wind-up dolls on a less-than-30 minute flight! Next time you're in Hawaii go to the Big Island (also named Hawaii). It's my favourite of the islands.

Great video! Recently discovered Wingin' It and Paul's Trip Reports and really enjoying both air and rail content. Thank you! I don't know if this is still going on but I suspect it is on hiatus, perhaps permanently, in the age of COVID-19, but the lounge (agreed it is not consistent with the rest of the experience) used to have Pau Hana ("work is done") Fridays where prominent local musicians would come to play a set. (They are on KZbin also) You would have to time your flight with lounge access (1st class or Pualani Gold status) accordingly, but it definitely changed the vibe of the place. There are some videos of these sessions on the iPad IFE. Keep up the content. Love it!

If you're flying on Hawaiian in economy I recommend spending a litte bit more for 'Extra comfort" seating. I also recommend the mini cabin with rows 11 & 12. @8:08, there are other 'Extra comfort' seats in the main economy cabin but this is quieter and often you're first off the plane. Last flight we were even off the plane before first class at LAX. The worst thing though is you get to see the service in first class lol as the curtain is not usually pulled and not thick anyway.

The Hawaiian Archipelago extends all the way to Midway Atoll but most of those islands are tiny, uninhabited, and within protected areas. I am not if you are making a distinction between the volcanic islands and the ones that have collapsed into coral atolls, but the western end of the chain is the oldest. My parents took us on a trip to Hawaii back in the 90's, the Honolulu concourses being open air was weird, but the Maui terminal building having no wall at all on the groundside was mindblowing.

Thanks for taking me somewhere warm today, Paul. Here in Central New York State, it's miserably cold and rainy. I'm saving my money, though, so I can go back to Manchester. I miss it terribly. My cousins live in Bolton, and I had such a wonderful time there. If I didn't live in America, I'd want to live there. Or maybe Sprowston in Norfolk, where my other cousins live. Your Norfolk reminds me an awful lot of my Norfolk in Virginia. If you've not been to Norfolk, VA, you should put it on your itinerary. I really think you'd enjoy it a great deal. It's the home of the 2nd Fleet of our Navy. Whilst there, you shoud definitely dine at The Abbey Restaurant. They converted it from a centuries old abbey, hence the name. The food is terrific! When I'm allowed to travel again, I'm heading there myself to visit my brother, who lives in nearby Chesapeake.

Great review. You've sold me on Hawaii - wasn't on my bucket list before I saw the pictures. What camera did you use?

I just flew Hawaiian airlines business class and had similar thoughts to you about the lounge. I cannot think of another business or first class lounge anywhere I've ever been that was less interesting or well stocked than Hawaiian. This would be bad enough if this were some borrowed lounge that Hawaiian pays to share in some small airport, like Oakland or Porto Portugal, but these are Hawaiians own lounges, at their base airport. But the flight experience on all of my 4 legs (US to Oahu, Oahu to Incheon, and back again) was excellent. I've certainly seen better but everything was fine on board, from food to service, to the perfectly acceptable lay flat seats, was fine.

Aloha from your O'ahu patron! I'm glad you went to Kaua'i. Because of family connections and its natural beauty, that's our island of choice for inter-island travel. I was there just a few weeks ago because our daughter's halau hula was participating in a dance festival at Koke'e (you took photos in the area). Yes that lounge in Honolulu is disgusting. The IFE on mainland flights is an awkward pain in the arse, and I always decline, but those mai tais sure carry a kick! By the way, the leaves in the loo were la'i, or ti leaves, also used in hula skirts, or pa'u la'i. Many Hawaiians consider them as objects of safety or good luck. My Hawaiian mother-in-law always put a few in her suit case when she traveled. They're sort of like a St. Christopher's medal. How I wish that I knew you were in the islands. I could have taken you places that visitors rarely see. Maybe next time. Another well done report, illustrating why I am one of you patrons. A hui hou, or until next time. Manu.

How did the shuttle flight land at HNL? I flew on Hawaiian 717 a few weeks ago between Honolulu and Hilo, and both times the plane approached, did a right turn, and landed.

I don't think I've ever been on a LIH to HNL flight that didn't land on Reef Runway direct shot from the West.

Admittedly many yearsa ago, but I had a horrendous experience with United from LAX to SYD - (I was travelling with a broken leg...a long story) - when I pressed the bell for crew as I needed my crutches which had been put away for take-off - no-one came - so I pressed again - and crickets - by this point I was crossing my legs and desperate -and still they didn't come. effers. Why would you do that to someone in a vulnerable condition??

Them Leaves in the toilet area are known as Ti (pronounced tea) Leaves and are often seen outside Hawaiian homes and business, they are thought to keep away evil spirits and bad luck. They are also used to wrap food in to cook. I told you i loved Hawaii ! ;-)

Hello Paul 😊 I'm new to your channel. This was such an excellent experience! Wish I could teleport there 😄 As a former ground staff at Changi airport (mostly handling SQ flights), I'm always curious to see what other airlines have to offer. Hawaiian is dreamy! The food, restroom 🥰🥰 I love your frank and unbiased views. ❤️
