Hi Paul, Just wanted to say thank you. I've just returned from the range for the third session where I was practicing using your drills and swing thoughts and it was the best session I've had in ages! While learning anything new takes time to dial in, I'm really starting to get the feel of the full-body turn and, by swinging more easily, I'm not using so much distance to off-target spin. I've never had such a high percentage of straight shots with my three wood. And as a great side-benefit, I finished my large bucket of balls with no tension. I really appreciate your tips. Thank you.,

LOL...I "pose" after every swing no matter how bad the shot. I have been following your swing drills for months and am FINALLY starting to actually hit shots...but that is NOT my focus. Its use the body to swing the club and it just seemed logical to complete the swing to get the greatest effect. Gives me more of that feeling of swinging/driving THRU the swing. Thanks Paul!!!

Another very practical video....whenever ive held a perfect follow through.....in general ive hit a good solid shot!....and vice versa....ive been looking for swing keys to take from range to course that free up my mind....it tends to get cluttered and i get in the way of myself.....this one makes sense...."get that perpendeicular follow through position"....it predicts the shot!........thanks again!
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
The follow through is vital. I have been teaching it since lesson 1. It is a precise point that you need to learn and know before you come down. This is point B to your swing. You swing from point A (top of backswing) to point B (follow through).

I'm gonna keep fighting cause the effortless shots that I have hit are great and feel amazing! I don't have the back pain that I typically had before. Love your lessons and approach to this great game!
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Just take it step by step. You are building a new swing and it takes time to get it. Do lots of practice swings at home mastering the positions. No ball means you can work on the swing undisturbed. Get the swing you get the ball. No back pain is a great feeling. This means you are on track. Keep at it.
@thomasesparza91754 жыл бұрын
For my practice swings, I slowly & gradually swing my club back & forward getting my wrists & arms loose as you mentioned in one of your past drill tips. As I increase the length of my swing, I complete the swing into a finish position with my club behind my head. My swing thought is "loose arms & complete the finish!"
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Fantastic! You are right on track.
@tysongarrett8688 Жыл бұрын
This is vital to maximizing acceration through ball.....it takes total focus each time to say...finish the position club perpendicular to target line.....no doubt you can have that thought in your mind...but then not execute it!....you have to relax!....some things just need repeating over &over again!....memorizing point A....and finishing to point B....seems very simple...but it wont happen overnight....it takes swinging at home daily ..range work...and reseting drills on the course...to master all this.....i love this stuff!...

90% of my bad shots are me rushing my arms to hit the ball. It’s so nice to be able to instantly diagnose and correct these bad shots. The other 10% is pulling and maybe even hooking. That one is more difficult for me to figure out.
@paulwilsongolf Жыл бұрын
Yes, you are hitting. I teach no hitting. So for sure keep following my tips and understand how it all works. You work on your arm unit by purposely hinging and rehinging them. You roll it from the top first and get every ball hooking. This is step 1. Once you can do that you have the arm unit mastered. At this point you switch to the body. You fire the body from the top. If the body moves first as you start down the arms will follow and you hit it dead straight. That's great. Sometimes I have great timing. Well, I do give away a lot but not everything. I am just sick of people not improving over the years. So the goal is to get people change the way they swing and stop using their arms. YT gives me a huge reach. Over time, more and more people will improve. They will tell others and at some point everyone will be trying to do it. There is a master plan. Let's hope it pans out.

Hello Paul, can you help with with something. I believe what you teach and I am trying to turn my arms off like you teach. I know I need to use my body and turn my arms/upper body off. When I do this i feel like I loose awareness for where the club face is in my swing. Often this in awareness of the club face cauces the club face to come into impact as open and I push fade my driver with too much spin. Any suggestions? This also happens when I try to keep my head behind the ball with driver and turn my arms off. Any help or ideas I would appreciate!

@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Yes, I just don't like a sideways swing. Most amateurs are doing this and its not working because they are trying to stay still overtop of the ball. Free up the head and you free up your swing. You are coiling then hinging up to set the top. You are uncoiling and letting the club go. It cannot hold the angle forever so it rehinges on its own if it's loose enough in your wrists.
@petebirchmann98494 жыл бұрын
Hej Poul. I had a shorter backswing, but changed it more towards your backswing. But now my clubface is closed and open at impact. Can’t seem to hit it straight. I keep pulling it to the right or slicing it to the left. Same with irons and driver. Maybe im using my arms to much.
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Pull = arms slice = arms and tight wrists. So yes, you are hitting with the arms. So loosen your wrists here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5CyYXtohrN5pZI and get it hooking. Then start powering it with your legs and hips to straighten it out.

I'm a left handed, but my dad tried to raise me as a righty. I still ended up throwing left handed, but batted right, shot right in hockey and swung right handed in golf. I basically do all arms and my golf swing is more like a backhand in tennis (power is mostly coming from my left arm). This was fine when I was in my 20s, but now in my 40s and getting back into golf, my swing speed is way down to 90mph. I'm having trouble transferring the power from my legs, hip and shoulders to my arms. I'm pushing off my leg, rotating my hips and shoulders, but I can't seem to get any more club head speed. Right now I'm practising throwing a ball right handed to get used to the mechanics of using my legs, hips and shoulders in the throw, but being a lefty, it feels really unnatural. I almost feel learning to swing left handed might be easier. Any tips or drills to feel that transfer of power from the legs, hips and shoulders to the arms?
@paulwilsongolf4 жыл бұрын
Although being left handed playing right has its advantages in the arm unit there are serious disadvantages with the lower body. The main issue is the person not wanting to move their head going back. No head movement and you don't load the weight so you can't fire as well. So start there. Next time you are throwing balls to get the feeling focus on how your head moves. Baseball too. Move the head 3-5" going back. As you start feeling the lower body keep the wrists super loose. Do this drill too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/ooayfYCilN-gm80

Hi Paul, question on left foot. Does it rise or remain fixed? I am told I am over rotating and lined to turn shoulders rather than hips? To quieter my swing I am advised to keep it fixed for better balance. Sincerely, Andy

He has a strong grip and shut face. He hold it off so he doesn't snap it left. Probably started this and saw some straight shots so he kept doing it. Tough to do under pressure. You are too tight or sliding laterally through impact. These 2 things make the club go up. It should be going around. Just fix the follow through position and it will fix the flaw. Work backwards. You'll see.
