I have a drag and drop question that I haven't and don't know if this is the appropriate place. But I am wondering if you can reuse a drag source? In other words, I have a drag source that I need to use as an answer in multiple places. It is marking up a reading passage in which they would drag the same symbol to multiple places on the same passage.
@CaptivateTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff, Yes this can be done by grouping drag sources into a 'Type.' Then you can set it up where any number can be dropped on various drop targets. This is kind of hard to describe here but if you are interested in purchasing an hour of my time I would be happy to join you online and teach you everything you need to know about this cool feature. captivateteacher.com/how-i-can-help/consultation

Hi Paul, Thanks for another great tutorial! Do you have any suggestions for how to create a drag and drop interaction that also has to be completed in a specific order? For example, let's say the goal is to cut out a shape from a piece of paper and glue the cutout shape to different piece of paper. I'd have a stencil, scissors, and glue as the drag objects and one piece of paper as the drop object. They'd have to drag the stencil first, scissors second, and glue last for it to be correct. Have you had to create any interactions like this or do you have any ideas of the best way to set this up?
@CaptivateTeacher5 жыл бұрын
There is an option to *Set Correct Answers* under the *Options* tab of the *Drag and Drop* panel. Click that button to open the *Correct Answers* window. You will see a drop-down selector called *Type* and its default is *Combination*. Changing it to *Sequence* will enforce that the drag and drop be completed in the order you see in this window. You can use the up and down arrows to move drag sources and their drop targets to determine what that order should be. Here is an example within this video that shows how you can set up a *Sequence*. kzbin.info/www/bejne/oWbNeX-flrxqmLc

Another excellent tutorial Paul - as a matter of interest, would this example work on a mobile screen or is there too much info for that?
@CaptivateTeacher4 жыл бұрын
Well that's what it really comes down to. I find that the amount of content is the single biggest concern when it comes to designing for mobile. You can mark certain elements as optional but you need to be careful not to exclude content from folks who are using mobile. That could be construed as discrimination (I know, poor mobile phone users 😭). I always try to design with mobile first and figure out what to fill the extra space with for desktop if it's even necessary.

Hi! I am new to captivate and find your videos very helpful! I am trying to create a slide which shows the participant their own reflective thinking throughout the course. For example, I have included a Text Entry and put their response as an Insert Variable Text Caption on the reflection slide. Now I would like to display their choices from a drag and drop slide (which offers 5 choices and asks them to drag and drop their top 3 from most to least important). How do I display their top 3 choices on another slide? Thank you so much!

Hmmmm. That could be done Kendra, but I fear this would be a complicated set of advanced action scripts that would need to be written. For something like this I don't think I could answer it in the comments of one of my videos, nor would it be a short answer. When it's going to take a little more time or effort to teach you how to do that, I refer clients to my website where you can purchase an hour of my time for one-on-one instruction - captivateteacher.com/how-i-can-help/consultation. Hi Paul, Thanks for yet another useful tutorial. I have followed your video, but I am having problems with selecting the correct/ incorrect captions on the object actions. Once I select the relevant feedback message from the different multi states I have created, it automatically reverts to one of the other states. This happens for all of the drop targets reverting to the same multi state feedback message, making it irrelevant when the project is being previewed. Do you have any ideas on where I have gone wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
@CaptivateTeacher4 жыл бұрын
It's difficult for me to know. Perhaps the feedback item is setup as a button (it shouldn't be) and due to a rollover effect it's changing the appearance when you mouse over. @@kayleigh9226 Hi Kayleigh. I am having this same issue but I can't figure it out. In the Accepted Drag Sources I have: - Unchecked "Accept All" - Checked "Replace" - Now, lets say I have 3 Drag and Drop Targets and 3 Drag and Drop Sources, named 1, 2, 3, and a box with a State View called Display_Text with 3 states, Correct, Incorrect, Next: - in Source Type Drag_1 I Change State of Display_Text to Correct - in Source Type Drag_2 I Change State of Display_Text to Incorrect - in Source Type Drag_3 I Change State of Display_Text to Incorrect - On each I uncheck "Continue Playing The Project" - I click OK and do the appropriate actions of the other boxes. However, when I check to see the Object Actions again they have all been changed from Change State of Display_Text to Correct to Change State of Display_Text to Next. All of them are changed to Next. It sounds like the same thing that happened to you. How did you fix yours? Thanks. Van

Hi Paul. I used this format to create "drag and drop" true and false and multiple choice questions. My issue is, I added audio to my feedback on the "answers" - when dragged, it gives a visual and audio feedback. The problem is, when a second one is dragged over (for example, the user got it wrong, so tries again) - if the audio feedback is still playing - and they drop a new item to the drop position - the first audio is still playing, and you get two audio playing at the same time for a little overlap. Is there an easy way to stop the audio when the next one starts playing?
@CaptivateTeacher3 жыл бұрын
If you are using triggered audio (like from an action or advanced action) you can simply use the Stop Triggered Audio action to make sure to avoid any cross talk. If you apply object audio there is no way to avoid it and thus why I never attach audio to objects.
@remote.inspired3 жыл бұрын
@@CaptivateTeacher - Thanks - i thought you might say that. Bummer. You have another video showing how to do a multistate slide - select and reveal. I was able to change that up slightly, so that I can use object audio, and it will stop when the next item is selected. I was hoping I could do the same simple setup with a drag and drop function.
