The grand kids and family slept over the pin box .and the rest of the family slept in the make shift bedding . They were tired of the rv breakage and had no more problems. I had the pleasure of the ture it was an awesome trailer. I couldn't talk my wife into doing that. The nice thing is the low roof line .tows alot better in the wind and you don't have to worry about the trees as much . I saw this trailer in 1999. Awesome video Denis from Santa Rosa CA.

People who own horses and travel with them, treat their horses like family members. There is no way they would put those horses in a trailer built to RV industry standards. RV quality is crap, and the industry is well aware of that fact.

Calif. to Utah, Nevada, Wyoming, South Dakota, across Yellowstone, and into Montana then thru Washington, Oregon, and back to "Kommifornia. We had only two horses at the time, but they were comfy and rested after driving for 4-5 hrs a day, then unload to eat and stretch. We went to so many beautiful spots and rode for hours over a 30 day period in 2015. The hard part was getting enough space to unload every day for stretching. Ideally, I think it's just for three horses so that fourth stall without feeding trough is just for access to the rear from the camper. That wouldn't be fair to the fourth horse now would it? No hay? 48' long...wow. That right there could be the ultimate toy hauler just taking out the horse dividers. Say for motorcycles/dirt bikes? Or in your case a super nice kids area with bunks and play room? May need a second A/C for back there. But that thing is built like they should be, "all" of them, not just horse trailers with living quarters. I'm sure it'll be sold fast. In excellent condition. Thanks for sharing partner!
@badgerpa911 ай бұрын
It is setup for the horse in the stud stall or stuff stall to use a hay bag. You can put a feeder on the escape door also. If you look at the video the stall close to the front has a panel that hangs lower to keep stuff from sliding out of the stall, but is really for a stud or stallion to ride and have more separation. Keep the stud from kicking the second horse. You would want one that has a rear opening not the rear tack room for hauling other toys. They sell them without the horse stalls and a rear ramp door for toys.
@PavingNewPaths11 ай бұрын
@badgerpa9 Thank you for helping to answer some of these comments! You are obviously well versed in horse trailers and how they are to be used! Wasn't there a second a/c in the back? @@PavingNewPaths You can get an AC for the horse area installed but it would be ahead of the hay pod on the roof, I did not see one but could have missed it. Usually the horse area uses the roof vents, drop windows and the fans mounted by ceiling. Some campgrounds will frown on a horse trailer even if it has never hauled horses and only toys. You are not likely to have frame failure on a horse trailer, except rust in the rust belt.

i could be completely wrong here, but i do have 10+ years experience with horses. i contemplated getting a horse trailer at one time (no rv combo, just a trailer). i was trying to get an idea of the cost and of what i would need to tow it (how much truck did i need, for example). the people i spoke to kept emphasizing that a horse trailer involves towing a LIVE LOAD. for example, my horse was 17 hands tall (one hand is 4 inches, and horses are measured from the withers [like the shoulder], so the head can be way, way higher than that measurement). i had a big horse. he probably weighed about 1500 lbs. during towing, if he wanted to move around (shift his weight to the front, back or side), he was free to do so. whenever he moved in the trailer, that was 1500 lbs shifting inside the trailer. i believe that is what they meant by "LIVE LOAD". i believe it is for this reason that this rv/horse trailer that you two toured in this video is SO STURDY. i believe it has to be in order to endure 4x 1500 LIVE ANIMALS moving around as you're towing them down the road. i wonder if the solution for the rv industry will be to take a good hard look at the horse trailer industry.....?
@PavingNewPaths11 ай бұрын
That very well could be what they mean by live load. I'll have to ask Kevin when he gets home! Whatever the reason, these trailers run circles around RV builds in terms of sturdiness! The RV industry should definitely take lots of notes and rewrite their playbook around how horse trailers are built! I just imagine an RV with the back tack room, but instead that could be your garage space and a place for your grill, bikes or kayaks! It would be such an awesome room for any RV'er to have!
@MG-vo7yn11 ай бұрын
@@PavingNewPaths after i wrote that, it occurred to me that a horse trailer has to handle more than just a horse (or cow) shifting weight. if my big 'ol horse decided he wanted to BUCK in that trailer, and someone was hauling him on the highway, that trailer had to STAY IN ONE PIECE through literally WHATEVER my 1500 lb horse decided to do. so, yes, horse trailers should be MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more sturdy than a traditional RV. but i still believe that the rv industry can learn from the horse trailer industry. growing evidence seems to suggest that at least some in the rv industry are building to the lowest possible "standard" - and even failing to meet that low standard. it would be great if your channel were the catalyst to begin a whole new avenue of rv style and construction!! :D

There are a lot of campgrounds here in the south east that will not allow Horse/RV units in. It's very nice though
@andrewr265011 ай бұрын
I have one of these units and haven't run into that issue. You cant bring horse's into most campgrounds but the way ours is setup we also haul our side by side in it. I do call first and let them know what trailer I'm bringing and confirm it will be empty and washed out. One other big challenge taking these into regular campgrounds can be the positioning of the trailer wheels which are much further back that on a bumper pull or even a 5th wheel. This means a 48' horse camper cuts corners way worse than a 48' toy hauler.
@livesoutdoors170811 ай бұрын
Yes you MUST CALL FIRST and state it is an Rv that “sometimes” hauls horses.
@PavingNewPaths11 ай бұрын
That's unfortunate considering just how nice they really are! Especially if you disclosed that there were no horses camping with you, we see no reason why they shouldn't allow these trailers!

That thing is sweet. We have a bunch of horse farms by us and I see these types of trailers frequently. I always wondered what those looked like on the inside. That pin weight is crazy. You're probably close to 550/5500 territory when loaded.
@PavingNewPaths11 ай бұрын
I know from the video we made with our RV maxed out we can overload the truck with only 4300Lbs of pin weight! The actual class 4, F450 is rated at 16,500lbs so it could handle it, but to have more room for error the F550 or 5500 class would be the best at 19K GVWR!
@gebertg11 ай бұрын
@@PavingNewPaths I actually considered ordering a RAM 5500 Limited eventhough it would be complete overkill for my needs. Nothing wrong with dreaming. You have the extra cost for the upfit on the back, but It's shocking how comparably priced they are to a 3500 for so much extra capacity.

Beautiful trailer. I have a 2003 Hart 3 horse. Its a tiny home compared to that on, just a 25' box with a 10' short wall, not family friendly, lol. But we do have 4 dogs with us, lol. Clean out the back and leave the walk thru door open for the dogs. I bought it used in 2006, they said it was $65,000 new. I love my Hart, still in great shape.

You can buy them without the horse stalls and a rear ramp door for the toys. There are hundreds of them in the desert in California on a weekend hauling toys.

i dunno how much these cost but here in australia a 5th wheel rv can easily be close to 100k AUD. tbh id rather buy one of these and pay the extra to swap out the horse space for extrea living area/toy hauler area and it would prob not cost a huge amount different. dont see too many 5th wheels here, prob cos our outback highways are total crap and it beats most rvs to peices after a few trips. this looks pretty sturdy and id be interested to see how one hold up over here compared to bumper pull caravans and 5th wheelers
@PavingNewPaths11 ай бұрын
It would be interesting to see one of these converted and then put it to the test as an RV. We are with you that these trailers look and feel like they'd hold up so much better than the current RV's on the market.

Oh goodness! We will be praying for your complete and speedy recovery. The great thing about Brooklyn Bedding is that there are so many options to choose from. We absolutely love our mattress. Before we ever partnered with them, we had already purchased and spoken about loving our mattress more than any other mattress we've ever owned in videos! The great thing they've developed now is a quiz that you can take that will help you determine which mattress will be best for your sleep style. Additionally, they are available to chat with online, so you could explain about your surgery if you felt you needed more guidance than the quiz results give you. Please let us know if you have any trouble with the quiz or need help linking up with their sales support! Here is the link for the quiz: custom.brooklynbedding.com/6463eb5905ef5 You definitely don't want to waste your money on such an important purchase that will definitely aid in your recovery!

We bred Paint horses for over 30 years. We had four horse trailers with living quarters in them and loved to camp in them. We had a big ramp on the back and loaded our bikes and could have taken the the golf cart in the back had we wanted to. It was awesome and we NEVER had frame issues with any of them. When we got out of horses, we were so disappointed with the Rv trailers, we will be going back to a horse trailer with living quarters.

I love camping with my horse trailer. It's not the same exact set up because they don't consider mine living quarters because there's no kitchen bathroom any of that running water. They consider it a comfort package. It's got a sleeping area with an air conditioner. /heater, and then there's a cooler in the horse area. We scrape any poop out if we took the horses lay down tarps , and then the kid sleep back there.
