Paw Patrol Thing! | Let's FIX It

I paid a whopping £4 for this Paw Patrol toy car thing. Don't know why.
Anyway, it apparently doesn't work, so let's test that out and fix it. Maybe.

For keeping the tactile switch flush with the board, it might have been better to put the wire on top of the pins, using a U shape to reach both pins.

For those small solder joints, i use fluxed desoldering braid,works good,and you dont need to pull too hard ,to get this Switches off the Board.

Dave is clearly a sleeping policeman and was therefore unharmed. One thing which may help in future is that this style of switch is usually linked internally between the horizontal pins, so at 5:06 you could have soldered the link just to the top left switch pin.

When you lift components like that using an iron you need to be careful abut how much you lift the first side. When you bent it back like that, after getting the first 2 legs off their pads, I commented out loud that you may have damaged the pad(s). Only to see it and the trace pulling up seconds later. It happens to all of us, I've definitely learned the hard way before

Why not just use flux and hot air to remove the faulty button? It's surface mount, after all. Doesn't matter if you melt the plastic as the old switch is going straight in the bin anyway.

The button wasn't working is because it was soaked in the original flux so you could have soaked it in alcohol and then it would have probably worked.
