Thank you for the coupon code, I just signed up for a subscription. My girl isn't a picky eater (she's an 11-month-old Maine Coon - IOW, a furry garbage disposal). She's been on another brand's raw frozen nuggets but I was having difficulty with consistent stock levels and protein choices locally (they only stocked chicken/salmon and rabbit with a huge price gap between the two). I want to give her choices of flavors while still staying in a single brand. EDIT 2/22/2023: We received our first Viva Raw delivery yesterday. As predicted, my furry garbage disposal gobbled it down and then licked the cutting board I used to turn the frozen blocks into portions. I'm glad I stopped to watch this video! I'm so excited to be able to offer my girl such a varied array of flavors and textures.

My kitties love this stuff so much and I love Viva's prices. They also just smell and appear so much more high quality than other pre-made foods I've tried (actually raw meat colored as opposed to grey or brown) Thanks for the review!

I've been feeding my two cats Viva complete for cats for several months now and I've been so so happy with their product. My cats love it too. The most striking thing in switching them to raw from a wet (but processed) canned diet was that my older boy Hanks who has had issues with high pancreatic enzymes in his bloodwork (emblematic of pancreatitis), and bloodwork/urinalysis that suggested he was in the early stages of kidney disease, his last bloodwork showed that his pancreatic enzymes are back to normal, and one of his kidney biomarkers was also normal! I don't know if this is due to the diet change exclusively, but I can't imagine it's not providing *some* benefit. Highly recommend.

This was quite informative! Can you please do a review on Carnivora whole ground animal diets? This is what I’ve been using. My vet suggested that I don’t need to add supplements since it is whole animal. However, based on your video I’m seeing that maybe I should add extra heart to their diet to get more taurine.

Thank you so much for this review! Your video was very informative about the Viva cat food choices. My kitty was on a diet of 2/3's wet can food and 1/3rd kibbles/Orijen about two years ago. Then after a vet visit showing she was starting kidney issues, I eliminated all kibbles and went to all wet Orijen canned food with bone broth. It had just been introduced on the market. She LOVED this so much and ate 2 cans per day, which was pricey but cheaper than ongoing vet visits. But moreover, her health turned around within 3 weeks and she was playful like a kitten again. I did try raw before and she wouldn't have anything to do with it. But after watching this video and reading the comments, I am going to give it another shot. And it should be an easier transition since she doesn't eat kibbles at all. I also really like that Viva has incorporated the vital nutrients to meet kitties' nutritional needs. I hope that Viva also sees this video and makes the recommended fat and organ changes you mentioned. Blessings to you for taking the time to help other cats and pet owners.

Ugh...Vi have something similar from Finland - 63% chicken(hearts,meat, bones, cartilage),36% beef (meat, lung, heart,liver, and cartilage), 1%Oil (coldpressed sunflower seed oil and seaweed). I'm not sure this is complete even though the company says so.

Cats take a little more work to transition. It took me two months to get my cats from free fed kibble to twice a day raw. But it can be done. First I went kibble twice a day, slowly transitioned to canned twice a day then slowly transition to Raw twice a day.

This sounds like a wonderful option for prepared raw food. I do make my own but I do supplement with premade raw, especially when I can get rare meats like rabbit and quail and other things. When it comes to fat, I do make my own bone broth for my kitties and I include the chicken fat and skins to supplement the broth making process. I don’t give her a ton of fat in the finished product but I leave some snd she loves the bone broth I make with just bones and water and a smidge of raw apple cider vinegar to draw out more goodness from the bones. I use the broth as part of the hydration for her night time meals. Along with a tablespoon or so of hot water to warm up the food after being in the fridge. My kitty loves getting it a little warmed up that way. Having switched her to raw, the vet is very impressed on how much healthier she is since I adopted her. She was so skinny before and lacked muscle tone. Partly because she’d barf up her food a lot. Now she rarely does. Last time she barged was this past July. But then again I took her to visit my mom and I noticed some treats I gave her didn’t sit well even tho they were treats I had given her before.

@jessicas.87769 ай бұрын
I learned that cats need a variety of proteins so we get them all and rotate through. The bird and rabbit are a bit lean for cats, so we will rotate beef in fairly often. The only one I might suggest to not get is chicken. Our kittens loved it at first, but now they turn their noses up at it unless they're super hungry. I still get it but I add some hearts and gizzards for texture. @@don2672

Love Vivaraw! Your videos have been so helpful in understanding in-depth nutritionally complete raw feeding. However, are there good animal-based substitutes for mussels that does not contain iodine? My cat has hyperthyroidism from before her raw diet regime, and anything with iodine causes her to get sick. And I’m struggling to find mussels/seaweed substitutes. Or maybe, do you offer consultations?

While we haven't switched yet. . .Viva is presently at the top of my list to switch to a commerical raw for our boys before the eventual deep dive into DIY. I haven't seen anyone yet complain about them, and their prices compared to the rest of the market absolutely standout. I also figure it isn't too difficult to add a little fat back in, if need be, by just using trimmings from our own meals in small amounts occasionally.

Love them. I have 1 picky kitty so I'm currently mixing 2 complete with 1 pure and just adding in a little extra taurine. My next order will be 3 to 1. When I was at a 50/50 I was still adding in Alnutrin. But since I'm at 66.5/33.5 I'm not doing that I'm just adding in extra taurine for 30 days. She's coming around to the complete.

So if beef pork or chicken heart are ground then frozen they will not provide sufficient taurine as it oxidises at 15% of the total recipe?

Hi, I love your videos. I feel overwhelmed doing home feeding, I tried with my dog and he had some liver complications so I would prefer to buy ready. Now I have 2 cats, I was feeding my cats viva for a few months but they stopped eating it. I have been on a hunt for another brand I can trust. Are you familiar with raw paws signature blends for cats and dogs? I just ordered a variety. My concern is that cats and dogs need dif ingredients added and they don't add any. Looked for "complete diet" but could not find. My only other choice was Darwins but they are limmited in their protein selection. I would rally love your help please. Thanks in advance!!!

Very good explaination ❤❤❤ Well done! I do question the high bone content though. 10 % is to much for a lot of cats. Constipation can become a problem.
@cleancutguy189211 ай бұрын
10% bone is not high content. It all depends on your cat's health. Look at your cat's poop, if it's whitish, it shows there's too much bone content.
@jessicajonsson401211 ай бұрын
4 -5 % bone is in the raw food for cats in the swedish market. My food was around the same, when I still included raw bones. One of my cats has stomack issues, so she couldn't handle raw bone. Today I use a supplement to cover for the missing bone. Ca:p kvot is around 1:2 if I remember correctly.

I have two cats (both about 1 1/2 years old) and they seem to always want to eat/be hungry. They should be about 8 and 10 pounds. Should I stop feeding them every time they ask for food? I see someone in the comments only feeds theirs twice a day. One of my boys is solid lol...he is heavy but doesn't look overweight.
@Trintron465 ай бұрын
It's always best to have a regular food eating schedule. I've done an extensive amount of research and have had cats for over two decades now. The best way to feed them would be 4 small portions throughout the day. But most people only have the time to feed two portions a day. It's best to feed them the same portion at the same time every day so they have a schedule they can rely on. If you feed them whenever they ask you will promote and possibly get cats that are vocal without stop at all hours of the day, since they expect being fed whenever they become vocal.

I have 3 kitties, all 3 love the chicken and turkey. 2 tolerate the beef, but don't really like it, and the other is allergic. This one cat is also allergic to their rabbit and duck recipes as well. Do you have any recommendations on how to get that added fat in their diet without being able to use the beef? I know that they need more variety than just turkey and chicken, but I am not too sure which protein to use. None of them really like pork, which Viva doesn't offer.
@Milly.4448 ай бұрын
I recommend finding food with other red meats like lamb and venison. I believe all of vivas seasonal proteins are red meat as well. Some of the brands I shop from are small batch (they have lamb), lotus raw (I believe they have a venison recipe), and hare today which sells blends, but make sure the blend is around 80/10/10 though. Hare today also has alpaca and other novel proteins!! Edit: I forgot to put this in the original, but the hare today blends need a premix without organs. I recommend alnutrin (the meat and bone one!!)

Hey! It's been awhile, I don't remember the name I chose for Heartbeat when I was a subscriber. But anyway, is there a way that you could do a video on BJ's raw complete cat food? They have five complete categories. Premium mix that is a mix of multiple different animals. Single ingredient ones, like beef, chicken, rabbit, and turkey. They're price per lb is this. (I rounded up jsyk) Premium: 6.90 per lb Chicken: 6.60 per lb Beef: 7.10 per lb Turkey: 7.80 per lb Rabbit: 12.30 per lb The problem is that their ingredients listed on the BJ's website is a little bit sparse, it only gives you the source meat, telling you that there's Beef liver, tripe, heart, beef meat, ect. It doesn't say if it has the required manganese or iodine or other essentials. Could you possibly do a deep dive like with viva in this video about BJ's? Thank! ❤
